HuskerfaninOkieland
SI.com N.C. State quarterback race down to two players RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina State's quarterback race is down to two players. Coach Tom O'Brien said Wednesday that freshman Mike Glennon will redshirt this season. That leaves returning starter Daniel Evans or redshirt freshman Russell Wilson as O'Brien's options for the opener next week at South Carolina. O'Brien said he is impressed by Glennon's talent, but decided after the team's third preseason scrimmage that "he's just not ready to handle some of the situations" that he might face. Picking a quarterback has been a chore this preseason. Five players were in the mix before O'Brien trimmed the field to three last week. Harrison Beck will be N.C. State's No. 3 quarterback, and O'Brien said Justin Burke is transferring to Louisville. Sounds like Beck is having a stellar college career at NC State Quote Link to comment

HUSKER 37
Kinda sad. I don't remember much about Beck..I think I was trying to wean myself away from the program after Callahan was hired. Wolfpack's QB competition nearing the end Junior Harrison Beck, who started four games last season, and sophomore Justin Burke have been ruled out as potential starters after competing early on. Coach Tom O'Brien announced Monday evening that Burke will transfer to Louisville. Quote Link to comment

huskerguy
3rd string on a very bad NC State team... he's definitely not behind guys like Phillip Rivers Quote Link to comment
the truth
beck was one of the nation's top rated QB's coming out of high school and i am still grateful to him for electing to come to nebraska when he had a number of other offers from top ranked schools. also, beck, on his own, was very active in recruiting other players across the country to join him at nebraska. there is no disgrace in being the #3 QB at n.c. state. most men in this country would be thrilled and honored to be in beck's position. admo
I think b/c he has the tendency to throw a lot picks, the coaches are hesitant with him. He may still do well. But he cant keep turning the ball over. It takes some QBs longer to improve on that. Quote Link to comment
Foppa
He just threw a pick for that was returned for a TD vs. E.Carolina. Way to go, mommy's boy. Quote Link to comment

papersun87
Beck got shown up by a freshman today. Wilson: 21/31 for 210 yards, 3 TDs and zero picks Beck: 3/8 for 47 yards, and one pick that got returned for a touchdown Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
He's the "3rd down" throwing QB, which is going to be a tougher situation since the defense is expecting pass. Still, Wilson did outplay him. The pick was off his receiver's hands, though it was behind him on a crossing route. Not a good pass, not a terrible pass. Quote Link to comment
zE bOp
Beck 2 start this coming sat. due 2 injuries 2 Wilson and the other guy... Quote Link to comment
admo
Yah I just saw that on ESPN. He'll have all week to get it together. The jury is still out when it comes to "is he or will he be as good as projected from HS". But since his transfer, it doesnt really matter regarless. Quote Link to comment
Red Storm Brewing
Wow, congrats Harrison, finally get the start at TE!!!! Seriously have you noticed the size of the guy, he's huge. Wonder if he is still in a band? Quote Link to comment
