Ganz4Heisman
Hey we got 12 votes now thats improvement Quote Link to comment
Dhuskers
nebraska gets 12 votes...not bad but if you count them out then thats still putting as at only 38. Isn't that where we were before? Quote Link to comment
papersun87
Just one vote behind Cincinatti . . . Quote Link to comment
Chef K
Gonna take a couple of weeks to make believers of 'em. A win over VT I think would put us in the Top-25. Quote Link to comment

skersfan
We play no one until the Va Tech game, they are not in the top 25, how would be move into the top 25. VaTech may lose another game before we play them. We have to play Missouri close or win to get ranked. If we are 4-0 going into the Missouri game, and keep it respectable, we might see a 24-25 ranking. If we win, then up the charts to 15-18 is my guess. Quote Link to comment
BigRedMan
I thought we were 46th? Quote Link to comment
kstatehater
Not that it really matters but yes we were "36th" before, UCLA jumped from having one vote into being one vote shy of the top 25 by beating a SEC team that has a new offensive coordinator, and frankly Tennessee looked everybit as bad as UCLA did look good. Cincinatti also passed us up, Rankings are garbage untill atleast week 4. Quote Link to comment
Igetbored216
Were people expecting NU's ranking to change much? I know I wasn't. The first week is hardly ever much competition (unless you're a team like Mizzou), so unless you lose to one of these filler teams (VT, Michigan), the rankings shouldn't change much. DJR313
I think NU was 41 before this, I am not sure. I think Nebraska could win the first 4 and still not be ranked. VT wasn't enough of a win to vault Eastern Carolina into the top 25, and they were coming off a 9 win season with a bowl victory. Quote Link to comment
melscott62
nothing short of a 5-0 start will get us back up there. I dont thinkit is something we should be worrying about as 5-0 is not real likely Quote Link to comment
hskerholic
In the USA TODAY they say each week a few players who they think have put themselves in the heisman watch and they choose Joe Ganz with his perfomace on saturday. 345 yards passing and 4 td's. I thought that was cool. Quote Link to comment
skersfan
melscott, reality is not a popular subject on Nebraska boards. Be careful, very careful. Quote Link to comment
DCHusker
Assuming that VT doesn't lose again before facing us, I think that if we go 4-0 we crack 25, barely. Even though BCS conference teams schedule cupcakes early in the year, going 4-0 is a lot rarer than you would think. I went back and l looked at last year: There were only three teams to go 4-0 and not be top-25: UConn, Purdue, and Mich St. Purdue was 26th, Mich St. was 28th, and UConn was 36th. VT this year will be a more impressive opponent than anyone those teams faced in their first four games. The strongest wins for UConn and Mich St. were both against Pitt. Purdue's best win was over Minnesota. Pitt and Minnesota were sub-.500 over the season and had pretty low expectations at that point in the season. Even with the loss in week one this season, I think most voters would consider VT a better than average team in a BCS conference, certainly above where Pitt and Minnesota were after week four last year. All that said, let's just worry about San Jose State for now. Quote Link to comment
