Army Husker
Ok, we're 3-3 winning against 3 "easier" teams and losing to 3 "harder" teams. Our overall stats according to huskers.com show that we beat out everyone so far except for one thing, yup, penalties. I know stats are controversial to say the least, but we get rid of penalties and we see a different outcome for the rest of the year? hskrpwr13
Without the penalties, this team is maybe 5-1. Penalties being NU's only problem? Hmm. Might want to take a look at the defense. Quote Link to comment
huskerjack23
apparently, the 'skers are a good second half team Quote Link to comment
Pedro Guerrero
75 yards a game? That is terrible. Plain and simple. You can't win games with that kind of stat. Quote Link to comment
MCAT800
Penalties hurt, but so does a lack of execution in all three phases of the game. Quote Link to comment
cmb23
Yeah, the penalties have pi$$ed the hell out of me this season. But I'm going to give that about 10% of why we are losing this season. Execution: 20% Scheme: 15% Talent: 10% Penalties: 10% OTHER TEAMS BEATING OUR ASS BECAUSE THEY ARE BETTER 45% Quote Link to comment
RedNLeader
Oh yeah penalties have killed us and i belive i read some where that over the last three games that the huskers have played Nebraska has 29 penalties and their Opponets have only 7 So if we can take the penalties away we could be alot better team Quote Link to comment

HuskerTrucker
IMHO without the penalties, we might be 5-1, at least 4-2. Penalties are nothing more than a good indication that there are other problems though. We have had some penalties at really bad times that have killed drives and changed the momentum to the other team...but there have been a lot of other problems in all facets of the game with this team. Consistency has been totally lacking. I would love to see that turned around this week against Iowa State, we need to come out and dominate from start to finish, then I will believe that the consistency issue is being changed. (It hurt my head almost as bad!!!) Naw, you haven't been paying attention. Punctuation and/or capitalization doesn't bother me at all. It's the repeated spelling errors that drive me nuts and the incorrect useage of there/their, lose/loose and losing/loosing (among others). Everyone can typo, it's the repeated ones that drive me crazy. Especially when someone lays down smack and can't even spell it right! BTW- it's not puctuation it's punctuation. Quote Link to comment

I agree I have watched the last 4 games, and the only one I seen we couldnt have won was agaist MU, but VT and TT was lack of discipline. They didn't beat us we beat ourselves and if we didn't rack up a bunch of penalties then we would be sitting at 5-1. I believe the team knows this to and are kicking themselves for the losses they should of had. I agree with Bo's plan of action though. Mass punishment for all penalties in a game. Make the players feel bad that there friends are getting punished for something they did. Hopefully this will clean up the dumb penalties. Quote Link to comment
SkullandBones
The thing about being heavily penalized is that once a team gets that sort of reputation, it kind of becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. The officials know which team(s) are racking up the penalty yardage and, whether conciously or not, tend to call things tighter against these teams. This could be an issue that haunts us the rest of the year. Quote Link to comment
