Always a husker
Ok, first off I'm a junior in high school and play many sports. Well turns out today my substitute teacher was arrested for soliciting prostitution. He's been subing at my school ever since I was in middle school. I thought he was the greatest guy ever. He had 3 offers straight out of high-school to play professional baseball and he was recruited heavily in football. He wanted to stay close to home and go to college so he went to a small college in Iowa and played football and got his coaching degree. He coached pretty much every sport for many years. He's probably the most down to earth, nicest, guy I've ever met. He always talked to me about lifting and football. He was always helping me get kids to go out for football and he was a great teacher too. He went to every school event and was the best motivator I know. He's also married and has two daughters. I just can't wrap my head around this. I don't know what to think of all this. What do you guys think? Here's a link to the charges.(He's the last guy on the page)>>My sub. Quote Link to comment
Wild Bill
I think it's bullsh#t that prostitution is legal in Nevada and illegal everywhere else in the US. This makes no sense to me. It should be legalized and controlled with medical examinations for the working girls, etc. Quote Link to comment
T_O_Bull
This is a tough one for you young man and a hard one the give advise on. Legislating morals has always proven to be an incredibly hard thing to do. Prohibition didn't work and may have contributed to the rise of organized crime in the US. A lot of the women who came west in the 17 and 18 hundreds either ended up being prostitutes or bore the babies of men that they hardly knew or certainly didn't know well. Prostitutes have bmeen around since the time of Christ and probably will be till the end of time. Your state, county or city law enforcement people obviously decided that the way to solve their problem was to arrest those that were paying for the 'services' that were being rendered. I personally think this is the easy way out for those in law enforcement, and I hope we get some comments from our members who are in that profession. Your teacher/mentor/friend is like all of us, he is fallable and he made a mistake. He made a mistake that will certainly affect him many times more than those he has let down by his actions. His transgression is no worse than that of those of us who place a bet with a bookie and certainly no where near as bad as the transgression made by the person who leaves a bar knowing that he should not be driving. Give the guy a break. He's feeling horible right now and can use your support. T_O_B Quote Link to comment
HSKRNOKC
Like he is the first guy to get caught doing that. Not hassling anyone just trying to get his and stimulate the economy at the same time. Quote Link to comment
strigori
what is really offensive is that tax dollars are spent on policing 'morality' instead of trying to solve actual crimes. Quote Link to comment
Drowning_in_the_Sea_of_Red
I know how you feel. My dentist was arrested a year ago for giving out prescriptions illegally. He was an awesome guy too. Not really a role model for myself, but I liked him a lot. Quote Link to comment

Scary thing is she was my 1.5 year old niece's pediatrician for a while too. Quote Link to comment
bennychico11
I understand both sides of the issue. Sex between two consenting adults, whether money is involved or not, is definitely not the business of the government. However, prostitution as it is now can be dangerous for both the girls and the john's. Rape, diseases, pregnancies, thefts, murders, drugs, pimps, under age girls...all are associated with these 'services'. And I'm not sure legalizing it is going to automatically fix these problems with it. I'm sure Nevada still has all these same problems. That being said, I wouldn't hold it against your teacher. He knew the laws on the issue and messed up. He's still a man and has 'manly urges' from time to time. There may even be other underlining issues in his personal life that he needs support with (ie. marriage issues) Quote Link to comment

T_O_B Well.....every time I have arrested a "John" or a Hooker for lewd conduct there was almost always some type of drug involved. People get tired of seeing hookers and pimps standing on the corners of their streets. With the rise of prostitution there has been a lot more of underage girls being involved. Am I saying that your ordinary man who goes out looking for a piece of ass has committed the crime of the century? No, but I do have a problem with the other crap that follows prostitution. I for one don't like rolling up on dead hooker calls. Just my two cents in the matter. Quote Link to comment
huskerfan500
Well last year one of teachers was paying kids to take pictures of their arms and stomachs (so not child porn) so he got fired. And last week a student teacher got fired for sending dirty texts to girls So I know about the teacher getting fired part, but both of our guys were de$%hs and were not role models so I dont know how that feels, but that sucks man Quote Link to comment
