ON NEBRASKA, A BIG-TIME PROGRAM WITH A GOOD OFFENSE, BEING A CHANCE FOR THE DEFENSE TO SHINE: “This game is a chance for us to shine. We’re going to give Nebraska our best game. They’ve played two Sun Belt teams. They’re not Virginia Tech. We’re going to get their best shot, and we’re going to give them our best shot.”

ON HOW EXCITING IT WAS TO SEE THE OFFENSE BREAK LOOSE AGAINST MARSHALL: “It really was exciting. Especially from the standpoint that, behind the scenes, those guys put so much work in. It doesn’t always shine through on Saturdays, but throughout the week, through the winter, the summer workouts, through camp, those guys are working. The receivers, the running backs, especially the offensive line, and Tyrod, they’re all working so hard. For it to all come together on Saturday was a real good reward for them.”

We are.. NOT Marshall!

Nebraska is working hard too. The Nebraska attitude that showed up against Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado and Clemson needs to show up for this game. Nebraska needs to bring their knockdown, drag out, make the QB hate having to line up behind the Center, A game.

This is a little out of context. In the article, the reporter is asking some players the questions, which are all upper case, and then are the players responses. There are a lot more than just these 2, so the question about breaking loose against Marshall really has nothing to do with NU.

Nebraska’s five starting offensive linemen average 6-foot-5, 300 pounds. Virginia Tech’s four starting defensive linemen average 6-foot-2, 272 pounds. The Hokies hope to use speed to their advantage, while the Huskers hope to overwhelm Tech with size and strength.

I tend to think most O-lines outweigh D-lines on average, and are slower, as well. This is hardly earth-shattering.

Smith out quicked last year?

He did in that game, but he was just a So. getting his 4th start. Smith got much better as the year went. Coaches really liked how he was playing at the end last season. Mike Smith this year is a vastly improved version this year, I know Worilds is a great player but I am willing to bet that Smith closed the gap since the last game. Still think the edge goes to VT at that spot as Worilds is special, but overall impact he makes should be lessened.
