wow gilbert is looking good now. still can't throw a spiral though

Well I gotta say I would have never guessed we could put some fear in the Bama folks until 2 minutes were left in the game. Yep, if Williams catches that very catchable pass in the endzone in the first half it would have even been more interesting. Still, this is one of those times you realize how important it is to have a reliable running game and we never had that this year. Gotta say our defense played well when they needed to in the 2nd half until they were put in an untenable position..and our O line was much better than against you guys..............as to McCoy being able to come back, he had no reason to take a risk like Bradford did. As much as I hate losing to the Sooners, I hated to see the way Bradford went down in our game against them. I think it showed he wasn't really ready to come back. I hope he gets his due in the NFL because while Stoops, Mack Brown and all the coaches make insane money, the kids have no guarantee. Do I wish we could have Colt, sure but he ain't gettin paid like Brett Farve to play hurt. Maybe Mack should have said he'd give him that big pay raise he just got to go back in. I think his raise was a bit premature............Okay, any more want to pile on I will be back later, bring it on!

All I can say the coaching on both sides was questionable. Alabama on special teams was pathetic, and for Brown to call a time out with 15 seconds left so his freshman qb can throw a shovel pass is beyond me.

Colt said he would have given anything to play in this game other then his chance at the NFL. I'm betting that was more his dads call then his though in all fairness. Can't lose your meal ticket for a college game. <_<

I will say thanks for Texas making Nebraska look a lot better by scoring that many points on Alabama.

speaking of questionable calls that fake punt by Alabama early in the game...WTF? worst call I've seen this year maybe

Seriously. McCoy isn't even in a sling. Why is he not out there? Forget the NFL... this is the biggest game of his life.

:flush

He just quit.... and it isn't the first time. Does anyone remember when Texas AM beat them? He quit in that game too. He basically said the hell with the fans, team mates, coaches and the university.... I'm going pro. What an embarrasement to the game. Unfrigginbelievable! I would not want him involved with my team in any way. There is no room for that crap in football.

The end result was disappointing, but I'm really proud of Texas for not quitting. They fought back against some pretty heinous adversity to have a chance to win the game. I give Bama all the credit for making the plays to win the game.

It took a few possessions, but GG played amazingly well for a true freshman. I mentioned in a few other discussions on this board that he likely would not be a weak link for Texas next year and this game did nothing to change that opinion. I think Texas and Nebraska meet next year both undefeated to that point in the season.

McCoy didn't quit. That guy wanted back in and he's a fighter. A tough kid and a leader. Texas sure needed him tonight, but sometimes when you can't go you just can't go. He still wanted to and had to be refused if I heard right.

Heinous adversity is right. Man I just checked the box score, but Gilbert had you guys at 24-21 in the 4th? Crazy. So Texas lost because they couldn't hold on to their momentum, and Bama stepped on the gas and put it away at the end. But they made a game of it and got their chances...they came close to turning the tide...but couldn't keep it up. Kudos to a freshman QB for doing that.

Right...

Perhaps you should read this.

I'll quote the relevant part.

"After the injury, McCoy was begging to go back in to finish his last college game. His dad, interviewed on TV, said the injury wasn't that bad.

But Texas coaches decided to err on the side of caution, and McCoy spent the second half wearing a headset on the sideline, trying to encourage his teammates."

I could go on, but well, I'm pretty sure I made my point.

Tough loss when McCoy went down. I was pulling for Texas, seems that some can't realize that, in Texas winning, it makes all of the Big-12 look good. Will root for any Big-12 team in an out of conference game[ even Col&Mizzo] .

Get ready to take some lumps in Lincoln next year. I think the tide has turned, and I'm not talking about Ala ;)

Congrats on a great season, and wish we could have seen what kind of game it could have been with Colt in there.

GBR!!!

we now know the kid's arm was essentially without feeling, a big time stinger, at least, if you can't feel your arm, you can't throw.

having said that Gilbert was pretty well poised for a Fr, he is well schooled too, something Green IS NOT, which is obvious......we have some real coaching probs when it comes to developing our qbs...

I watched the game and after the BCS gave Texas a 1 second gift against Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship game, I rooted for Alabama............ROLL TIDE!

Yes, I have to admit..... I reveled with glee every time Texas screwed up a play. I love it when Mack Brown and the "Shorthorns" do something wrong ..........you just KNOW the whining will start today, thats all they ever do when things don't go their way and heaven forbid.........they lose. Sorry. but ever since Texas and all the little Texas teams took over the old Big eight conference and molded it in their own image, I can't freaking STAND Texas and am very happy when they lose.

C'mon fall 2010 and GO BIG RED!!
