HuskerNLimbo
I was just looking at the Junior Day topic and noticed that Texas has two JD and I cannot think of anyone else who has two. Does anyone know why they do? Quote Link to comment

Nexus
Texas doesn't recruit the same way that Nebraska or any other school does. For example, Nebraska sends out offers based on word-of-mouth and films sent in by coaches and/or players sometimes before even meeting the kids face-to-face. What Texas does is pick out the very best athletes from their own state first and send them invitations to their Junior Day. There are a few out-of-state prospects that get invited too, but only the very best from those states will garner an invitation. What happens is those kids who accept the invitation will get an offer on the spot when they show up on Junior Day. In turn, I'd say a good 80% of those kids accept the offer and commit that day. What this does for Texas is it saves them a whole lot of money on travel expenses and whatnot. Due to the shear volume of talent in their own backyard, all they have to do is invite the kids they want and just wait for them to show up at their office and their job is done. It's quite the opposite for Nebraska. We have to spend a big chunk of our travel budget $ to go out and seek the prospects we want. As for why they have two? This gives those players who get an invite a chance to pick which date works best for them. It's a smart move when you think about it. Sometimes kids and their parents have prior engagements happening on one of those two Junior Day dates, so it gives them flexibility to choose which date suits their schedule best. 1 Quote Link to comment
huskernation20
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Nebraska had 2 Junior Days last year. Quote Link to comment
EZ-E
Texas has two so they can offer their first choices the first day and their second choices the second day. That puts pressure on the kids to commit. Quote Link to comment

He commits a personal foul on a 3rd down play against OU and lets OU get another 7 points. None of the coaches got in his ear and said a word. Let Texas got all those 4 and 5 star studs. We are fine with how we recruit. That play was a huge play. Kids make mistakes but to see no coach get in his grill over it, that was shocking. Quote Link to comment
ADS
Makes me wonder if Quincy Russell still thinks Texas is the right place for him. Hopefully Aaron greens uncle, Gary Green, is still in his ear. Quote Link to comment
