WCHusker
I never really paid attention to these since they were not really a big deal at the time, but can anyone tell me what votes that we were the only "No" on? I'm aware of the CCG to Jerry's place vote, what were the others? Quote Link to comment

huKSer
Historically, when the league started - partial qualifiers for sure, having a conference championship game, choice of commish and maybe location of the league headquarters Quote Link to comment
In the Deed the Glory
Prop 48 partial qualifiers when the conference was started was one I remember Quote Link to comment
kansas husker
weren't we also the only vote against having a conference champion ship game in general. Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
weren't we also the only vote against having a conference champion ship game in general. huKSer already said that. Everyone always points to 1996 as proof that the CCG is evil. However, in 97 we blew out A&M enough to close the gap on Michigan so that we could pass them in the coaches poll. In 99 we nearly caught VT by beating Texas. And in 2001 the Texas loss in the CCG put us in the championship game. Also, whenever there is an upset, that has put a 2nd Big 12 team in a BCS bowl, which is more revenue for the conference. The question on this issue is why the vote wasn't 12-0. Quote Link to comment
irafreak
True but suppose there was no CCG in 96 and we three peat....don't you think even a close win against missouri going for 4 straight would close that gap with michigan...and we all know it was TO's retirement that got us that share by the coaches poll. We soundly defeated Tennesse and Michigan squeaked out against washington state but the ap still gave it to them... Quote Link to comment

The question on this issue is why the vote wasn't 12-0. actually i would put 2001 in the same category as 1996. A conference team heading to the MNC title game gets derailed in the CCG-- again. it doesn't matter that the team that was knocked off was Texas and not us. or that we (unfairly) benefited from it. 2009 it almost happened again! A win by Nebraska knocks a B12 team out of the national title game. No different than 1996 regardless of what role the Huskers or Longhorns were playing. personally I have no problem with the CCG. Its made for some interesting (and some really awful) games and upsets. but TO clearly wasn't wrong about its potential in knocking off a B12 team on the way to a national title.
