zoogs
QB - Lee, Green, (Spano/TayMart Magic/LTW) HB - Helu, Burkhead, D-Tray FB - Legate, R.Hill WR - Paul, Gilleylen, Enunwa WR - Kinnie, Khiry, Henry, SJB WR/TE - McNeil TE - Cotton, Young, Reed, R.Hill LT - Sirles, Hardrick LG - Williams, Qvale OC - Caputo, Pensick RG - Henry, Qvale/Ash? RT - Marcel, DJ RE - Allen, Ankrah DT - Crick, Randle, (Rome?) DT - Moore/Steinkuhler LE - Meredith, Williams LB - Compton, Lavonte LB - Whaley, Emart, May PB - Hagg, Cassidy/Green CB - Prince, ???? (Dijon? Green? Jase?) CB - Dennard, ???? (Thorell? Lazarri? Mendosa?) S1 - West, Smith, Thenarse S2 - Gomes, Cassidy/(Cooper?) At QB, I think we have a clear 1 and a clear 2. Taylor as has been reported before has a specific package of plays worked in, which is separate. I was tempted to put in another position called "Taylorback" and list him as the starter. At RB, I don't think we'll see any changes. Backup WR is where some people need to step up. Ryan Hill was listed as TE/FB on the Huskers.com roster. McNeil - I'm not sure what the plan for him is. Some sort of hybrid role, I guess. A bit foggy on the backup OL, so the Ash listing is a guess. I think Qvale is probably the top guard backup. Listed Rome and Cooper since there are reports that they might see time. I'm not sure who would get the nod between Whaley and Eric Martin, but with the positive reports on Whaley and the reports of Martin needing to stop sleeping in film study, I put in Whaley there for now. On the DEs, I think Allen was the blindside rusher last year but I don't remember. The backups at cornerback I just have no idea about. Hopefully the top guys stay healthy. If we go with 3 LBs, I think May could be one of them. In a Nickel look, maybe we have Compton/David on the field and Hagg just slides into Nickelback, and in the Dime, I think they've said Gomes will move up at dimeback, and we'll see a different safety - Cassidy possibly? Dime linebacker is, I'm guessing, Compton. Safety picture is a bit muddled I suppose with Cassidy moving around potentially, but I think we'll probably ride the 2 seniors this year while getting Smith/Cassidy/Cooper some more playing time. Thenarse I'm guessing sees more time on ST, like Blue last year after coming back from injury. A lot of totally uneducated guesses by the way. Yours are as good as mine. Quote Link to comment
Danny Bateman
Heres mine Offense QB -Lee(barely hangs onto this spot w Green breathn down his neck) HB - Helu (Rex wins this spot by the end of this season) FB - Legate X - Kinnie Y - McNeal Z - Paul TE - Cotton (not even trying to predict how this come out) LT - Hardrick LG - Henry C - Caputo LG -Williams RT - M. Great breakdown Zoogies. One can tell you put in a lot of thought. The only quarrel I have is that if David picks up his playbook quick enough, I think he'd be the dime backer and potentially a nickel backer. I think his speed and athleticism probably give him the nod over Compton, but it's totally contingent upon his learning the defense. You have to have a guy at that Dime backer that can be the field general and make all the calls and adjustments, as well as make plays. Dillard's renaissance last year had as much to do with the coaches trusting him as a commander on the field as his playmaking ability. Quote Link to comment

HuskerNMO
My prediction of how the week 1 official depth chart will look based off last year's format (with excessive use of "or" ) QB- Zac Lee or Cody Green RB- Roy Helu Rex Burkhead Dontrayevous Robinson FB- Tyler Legate CJ Zimmerer Z- Niles Paul Currenski Gilleylen Will Henry X- Brandon Kinnie Khiry Cooper Y- Mike McNeill Quincy Enunwa TE- Ben Cotton Kyler Reed Dreu Young LT- Jeremiah Sirles Yoshi Hardrick LG- Keith Williams Brent Qvale C- Mike Caputo Cole Pensick RG- Ricky Henry Andrew Rodriguez RT- Marcel Jones DJ Jones LDE- Cameron Meredith Jason Ankrah RDE- Pierre Allen Josh Williams DT- Jared Crick Baker Steinkuhler DT- Terrance Moore Baker Steinkuhler or Thad Randle Mike- Will Compton Eric Martin Will- Alonzo Whaley or Matthew May or Lavonte David Peso- Eric Hagg Austin Cassidy Andrew Green CB- Prince Amukamara Andrew Green CB- Alfonzo Dennard Anthony West FS- Dejon Gomes Rickey Thenarse SS- Anthony West or PJ Smith Quote Link to comment
NUance
QB – Lee; Green, IB – Helu; Burkhead xWR – Kinnie; K. Cooper zWR – Paul; Gilleylen TE – McNeil; Young/Cotton RT – Marcel Jones; D.J. Jones RG – Henry; Ash OC – Caputo; Pensick (Ash maybe?) LG – Williams; Qvale LT – Sirles; Hardrick RE – Allen; Ankrah DT – Crick; Randle DT – Moore; Steinkuhler LE – Meredith; Williams LB – Lavonte/Compton LB – Whaley; May PB – Hagg; Cassidy(??) LCB – Amukamara; West RCB – Dennard; Thorell SS – Thenarse; Smith FS – Gomes; Osborne A couple of wild-assed guesses in here (#2 peso??; #2 center). I'm guessing we move someone new into the backup center spot. Also, this is assuming we go with a traditional RG/LG offense, and not the cutting edge double LG formation. :-) Quote Link to comment
Danny Bateman
I think one issue I'd like to bring up is the backup guard situation. I agree Williams and Henry have the starting jobs on lock, and Qvale is probably the top backup. However, after that, I wonder of Nick Ash is really the top option, based on what you guys say. I'd think either Brandon Thompson, Seung Hoon Choi, or Luke Lingenfelter are in the mix there. Also, what happened to Jesse Coffey? Hope he hasn't fallen off the face of the earth. Of the four from that recruiting class, I'd consider Qvale and Sirles the two more hyped players, and Ash and Coffey the sleepers. Of course, Qvale was kind of a sleeper too, having few other offers and being from North Dakota, but the way the coaches raved about him as soon as he got on campus kind of changed things. wilber24
all the depth charts have merit. My only question is at QB. Lee by far #1, but until Cody Green shows he can pass in a game, the rest are lumped together at #2. I still have visions of him missing passes by 3-4 yards. Hope he proves me wrong in the first 2 games at least. Quote Link to comment
girlknowsfootball
Lee is gonna start at QB, if he fails during season Pelini will yank him and give Green a shot... Martinez will only be used for wildcat, run, trick plays... he's not gonna be the starter this year he doesn't have the arm Watson wants to see in his 3 WR 1 TE formations... look for Watson to run some 4 pass catcher West Coast NFL type pass formations this year... they're gonna open up the passing game...they're also gonna run some wildcat, option, power run, shifty run plays... Offense this year is gonna be real multiple and you're gonna see a little bit of everything. 1 Quote Link to comment

Yeah, O-line depth. This is something I’m curious about. But we probably won’t know until we have a couple of games under our belt. The first depth chart usually has a lot of "or" alternates listed at those second spots. Quote Link to comment
EZ-E
Offense QB-Zac Lee RB-Who cares? All three will get carries. FB-Legate TE-Cotton X-Paul Y-McNeil Z-Kinnie LT-Hardrick-he is an a$$hole. Has a mean streak that I like in an OL LG-K. Williams C-Caputo RG-Henry RT-M. Jones Defense DE-Meredith DT-Crick DT-Moore DE-Allen LB-Compton LB-Whaley (David could be in one of these positions by conference play) CB-Prince CB-Dennard Peso-Hagg (Green looking good, could get some valuable experience) S-West S-Gomes In the dime, Gomes slides to dimeback and Smith jumps in at safety.
