Projected BCS Standings

There is no way a 1 loss LSU can play for the title if they don't even go to their conference championship game. Auburn is already a lock for the SEC western spot since they own the tie breaker on LSU. If Auburn loses and LSU is a one loss team, they won't even play in the SEC championship.

How can LSU play for a title over BSU, TCU and the winner of the Big 12, if they don't even make the SEC championship. Inconceivable.

How is it inconceivable?

Not playing in your conference's championship game does not preclude you from being ranked the 2nd best team in the nation.

Your logic makes no sense.

A one-loss team from the best conference in the nation could definitely make the claim that they deserve to be in the BCS National Championship over an undefeated team playing a cupcake schedule.

Although, I will say that I don't believe LSU is deserving of being in the BCS Title Game. They should have had multiple losses early in the season but were aided by extraordinary luck (UNC having its stars be suspended/kicked off the team, Noel Devine playing hurt for West Virginia, Jeffy Demps being out for Florida, and the Tennessee coach not knowing how to count to 11).

Remember Nebraska went in 2001 after losing to CU the final game of the season and didn't go to the CCG.

Edit: And Oklahoma went in 2003 after losing to K-State in the CCG.

I know it was reported that could not happen again. There was talk of it a few years ago, with LSU and the two loss deal I think.

You have to win your conference was the bottom line. I could be wrong for sure.

I think your right i remember hearing about it. But the situation hasnt come again yet, so who knows.

But in no way should LSU be considered for the NC game, if they dont even play in their CCG.

We need to hope that Alabama beats Auburn, and Arkansas beats LSU... many believe that voters will choose a 1-loss team from a major conference over an undefeated TCU or Boise State team...

The logic is this. If you are not able/good enough to play for your conference championship you should not be able play for the title. There are 1 loss teams and undefeated teams that deserve a shot over a 1 loss LSU that is in 2nd place in the SEC west. Because they lost early and moved up the polls does not make it right. I one loss team like OU or NU that wins their conference championship should jump a one loss LSU. If NU is sitting at no. 4 in the BCS and wins out, it makes no sense that a LSU team that didn't qualify for their own championship should go to the NC game. I think that Oregon, Auburn, TCU and BSU all deserve a shot over a one loss champion but a 1 loss LSU that didn't play for a championship should not get a nod over a one loss team from NU if we get down to that point. The human polls should never allow a LSU team that didn't play for the title in a conference that has a championship game. If you have a Conference Championship Game, you should have to play in it and have to win that to advance. There is no written rule that states this but there should be polls that penalize LSU. If you don't qualify to win the SEC/your own conference you shouldn't play for a title. Just like the loser of the SEC title game shouldn't play for the title. The SEC gets more props from the media that they are really good but really BAMA, LSU and Auburn aren't as good as the media says they are and they always seem to give them props because the SEC is usually a lot stronger than it is this year.

How so? The BCS is nothing more than a ranking system to determine which two teams play for the title.

If we win out, the only teams that should make the MNC before us would be Auburn and Oregon if they win out. TCU and Boise State are good teams, but come one, we would go undefeated and look amazing doing it with their schedules. If we win out, we will have beaten 3 top 15 teams- Missouri, @Oklahoma State, and either OSU or OU in the Big 12 Championship game. We will also have beaten another top 25 team on the road in A&M.

So basically you're saying that LSU should be punished for playing in the best conference in America...

The TWO best teams according to the BCS will play each other in the National Championship.

Whether one of those teams is the second best in its conference is irrelevant.

No, the SEC gets props from the media because they win the National Championship every year.

EDIT: The BCS doesn't care what you and/or I think, LOL. They are going to put the TWO best teams IN THEIR OPINION (based on 2/3 human polls and 1/3 computers) in the National Championship. They aren't going to hold out LSU just because there is a better team in their division preventing them from competing for the SEC championship (Auburn, who by the way, may end up #1 in the BCS).
