TSA Body Scanners

Recommended Posts

How our government works:

1) Get a position in the government.

2) Hype up some scare and advocate a solution to it

3) Sell/convince the government on your proposed solution, leave your government position, and partner up with the company that provides that same solution.

4) Sit back and enjoy your new money.

For the first time metal detectors are being replaced by full body scanners that look through clothing for hidden weapons according to TSA. The body scanners cost an estimated $170,000 compared to the metal detectors at around $100,000.

Young lady, would you mind stepping back into the scanner? We need to check something? Oh yeah. that’s it. Now, turn around. Again. Again!! Now, hop up and down. Oh yeah just like that. Higher. Harder. REALLY BOUNCE. YEAH, JUST LIKE THAT. OH BABY! OH YES, YES, YES!! Okay, you can go.

How reality works:

1) Catastrophic event occurs, due to lax security in our airports (nation).

2) "Patriotic" travelers accept new "security" measures, since the only negative side effect is a loss of minutes of their time.

3) New, advanced, homicidal techniques up the ante on said "security" measures.

4) Technology fights back, countering earlier homicidal techniques.

5) People out of touch with fact number 1, the death of thousands, gripe and bitch about their rights, oblivious that the person sitting next to them with a bomb in their underwear wouldn't exist with a newer technology.

Young lady, you don't have to jump, turn or anything. If my only existance in life were to get a nut off due to this x-ray, I could click, click, click, click..but please continue on. I don't see anything controversial, that might put other Americans that you are sitting next on this flight, at risk.

Simplified version:

1) The media reports on this new device

2) The public freaks the f#*k out

Young lady, why would I waste my time looking at blurry images of your hazy-semi-naked body when I could just stay at home and browse full on porn?

I recently read that you're only patted down if you fail a metal detector test and the body scan. I talked to a girl who flew to Florida for Thanksgiving and had to get patted down after failing the tests. She said she felt a little violated and awkward at first, but it wasn't so bad that she would quit flying.

I take back what I said earlier in this thread. My 16 year old daughter was made to go through the body scanner, while everyone else got a pass. Can't say in the least that a white, 16 year old little girl is what these scanners were made for. Sick Bastards.

Sorry to hear that AH..

It's always who you least expect, I guess.

Maybe these TSA agents watched "The Challenge/Cutthroat" on MTV before their shift.

For me personally, i wouldnt mind the scanner.

I was going through security one day, it was completely dead so i chatted up the TSA for about 3 minutes. When i joked about the pat down he sort of shook his head. He said he personally has been called names, when he is just doing his job.

I get why some people are upset on who gets chosen to go through the scanner, but did you ever think it was a numbers thing. Like ever 25th person gets sent through?

I understand that it is more a money thing but not all bombs are made out of metal. If someone is that uncomfortable with the body scanner, then you get a pat down. I get that it sucks and is uncomfortable, but i really doubt TSA members get there jolly's from it. Some might but i am guessing most dont enjoy doing it but its there job.

Wow, AH. That's messed up that they would do that. Any reason why she was chosen?

I am sorry to hear that as well. I don't like the idea of these things, but it should be random, no? Would you be more encouraged to hear that only Middle Eastern men were chosen for the scanners? Then we'd have a real problem.

Let's be real here, when has a white, teenage girl ever committed an act of terror?

I'm not advocating racial profiling, but a terrorist absolutely fits a certain profile and we'd be stupid not to use that information to our advantage. We are at war, hurting someone's feelings should be the least of our concerns. Do terrorists give a damn about our feelings or rights?
