I thought this was about Nebraska and not tOSU?? We were loaded last year and still lost a game before our season was vacated.

When was the last time you went undefeated again??

Nebraska will win a lot of games this year, but they will not go the entire season without a loss.

Nobody bothered replying the first time because a: it's a stupid question and b: you know the answer or could look it up. Any fan of a decent program thinks there's at least a chance that their team will go undefeated and win the national championship. The time between the most recent undefeated season and the current one isn't really relevant. Coming onto a forum for a specific team and thinking it odd that the fans think the team might win all of the games is silly.

well that and the whole misspelling undefeated, twice, and the first with caps-lock on... That didn't help it look like a serious question.

Interesting but I don't see us losing at all!

I’m glad you have confidence in your team but I don’t see anyone going UNDEFETED in the B1G this year. When was the last time you guys went undefeted?

Why is that? Would a team go undefeated if they had not cheated and broke so many rules? The last time we went undefeated is when we wanted to play a certain big10 team, but they were playing a patsy in the rose bowl instead. :)

You are probably right. You made it seem like going undefeated in the big10 was not possible for Nebraska even though Ohio State has accomplished that feat. It just came off as being elitist. That's all. Wisconsin could go undefeated, or Iowa. Who knows.

It was more of a rhetorical question, I already know the answer. Next time I’ll be more specific.

I agree that fans of a decent team thinks there is a chance. I simple stated that I don’t think they will go undefeated. I don’t think it’s odd at all, I just disagreed with it. God forbid not everyone agrees that Nebraska will it all.

I’m not saying it’s impossible, I’m just stating I don’t think anyone will do it this year. I could easily see Nebraska, Ohio State & Wisconsin all beating each other. I wasn’t trying to be elitist.

Nebraska @ Wisconsin = Wisconsin

Ohio State @ Nebraska = Nebraska

Wisconsin @ Ohio State = Ohio State

I think these three teams are the ones to beat and will remain that way until Penn State & Michigan can become competitive again. Until then we'll just have to beat up on each other.

I'm not seeing how they can expect that much out of Michigan. horrible defense and a new offense that simply doesn't not fit their QB who is clearly their best offensive weapon.

I'm right there with you. I'm sure Hoke is a fine coach, but its going to be like getting rid of Callahan here. Just without the actually decently working offense (at the time) of Ganz to fall back on. I'm sure they'll stick some draws and reads in for Robinson, but at the end of the day its a full change in philosophy on both sides of the ball, one of which the cupboard was pretty bare... Otherwise last year wouldn't have been 3/5 conference and 7/6 overall.

I've chalked the preseason hype up to this: It's Michigan. It's like Notre Dame every time they get a new coach. It's good for a few homer preseason top 25 picks and delusional "were gonna win it all" talk. For about a month and a half into the season, then reality sets in after dropping a couple games.

They picked Michigan to beat Nebraska, Ohio State, and Michigan State. They also picked Michigan to lose to Iowa, Notre Dame, and Illinois. And they have them winning the Legends apparently. Having neither Nebraska nor Wisconsin winning their respective divisions is pretty insane and in no way should that be on a college football preview. Unless of course, throwing darts and hoping is your thing.

Team That'll Disappoint

Nebraska – The team is strong and the coaching is fantastic, but the schedule and the pressure might be too much to win the Legends in the inaugural season. Taylor Martinez might have a ton of talent, but he has to prove he can last a full season and has to show he can be the type of quarterback who can handle tough game after tough game. The defense will be fantastic, especially in the front seven, but the offense might have some consistency issues. The biggest problem, though, is the schedule. EVERY Big Ten game will be the circle-spotlight battle of the week, starting out at Wisconsin, getting Ohio State the week after, and having to go on the road to face Penn State and Michigan before closing out against Iowa. The bye week comes before Minnesota; Nebraska doesn’t need a bye week before Minnesota.

Best write up I have seen to date. To think Nebraska is going to walk into the Big 10 and roll is dreamy. If we can get through this brutal schedule at 9-3 I wouls be very happy. I just get this feeling that one of those games in November, probably on the road we will get throttled. Everyone is building up Nebraska, especially after watching three days of mid '90's Husker Highlights on BTN, this powerful all mighty machine that's going to blow the doors off everyone. I don't see it. I'm very happy where we are at, I think if our offense gets going we can have a very solid year with maybe only 2 loses. For every Okla St, K-St, and Okla St. game last year there was Texas and South Dakota St.

Prediction: 9-3 overall, 5-3 conference <it still gets us to a nice bowl game and respect in the league for upcoming years.

If we have an offense: 10-2 overall, 6-2 conference

Regardless if Ohio St. guys were selling crap or not, they are still in the midist of a great run. They have a chip on their shoulder with a ton of great athletes. This guy has every right to feel his team can compete and even go undefeated.

I haven't seen anyone but a very small minority think we'll roll. The vast majority of predictions are 10-2, if we have an offense.

Sorry, but I don't see a loss to Michigan. Penn State IMO is in a better position to rise up this year and shock someone than Michigan, especially Nebraska. Plus, Pete typically writes douchey articles for Nebraska--the whole Texas slant is just plain ignorance, and really, this team won the 2009 Big XII title game.

And I still think Ohio State could cause trouble on their side of the pond. They have probably the second-best defense in the Big 10 still intact.

i see us losing 3...or 4

Me too.

Michigan State, Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Washington, and Iowa as regular season foes... it is easy to see us losing to any one of these teams (it would not be a surprise at all). It is also easy to see us beat any of these teams... again that would be no surprise.

Now take the 7 games as a whole... if we went 4-3 that would be quite respectable. 5-2 would be great. 3-4 would be somewhat of a bummer --- but is not unlikely.

I again predict that the highest probability is the 4-3 against these teams (and undefeated against those foes not listed above). So.. yes a 3 loss regular season is what we should reasonable expect. A 4 loss regular season would be less likely but quite reasonable a prediction. A 2-loss regular season is, in my mind, rather optimistic... and while relatively unlikely, would not, necessarily be surprising.

I love the enthusiasm of those predicting an undefeated regular season --- but that has almost a zero probability of happening. No way! a 5 loss season is more probable (and that will not happen either!).

Expect 3 losses. Hope for only 2. And hope that we do not go down 4 times.

Michigan winning the Leaders Division is kind of laugable simply they are implementing a new offense, new coach. Now if they had kept Rich Rod i would be more inclined to believe it. Big turnarounds don't happen much in college football. Considering that after the first quarter of their bowl game against Miss St. they got blew out in that game. A defense overhaul is what they need and that is about 2-3 seasons out from getting the guys he needs to implement it.
