ColoradoHusk
The 105 fall camp roster and the 85 scholarship limit are two different things. Bo can add a player to the 105 roster at anytime, and yes he was saving a spot for Bubba. So, he can add someone to the camp for the rest of the week, or just wait until next week when school starts. As far as the scholarship that Bubba had, that can be given to a walk-on who is a senior this year, and then it will be free to be used for next year. Who knows what Bo and the rest of the football admin staff will do with that scholly for this year. Also, just because Middleton and Okafor are not on the 105 for camp, it doesn't mean it frees up a scholly, unless those guys are kicked off/asked to leave the team after the season. It'll go to Matt May I think (hopefully so anyway that kid is deserving). That would make the most sense. May is Sr. walk-on who has cracked the 2-deep on is a regular contributor on special teams. The scholly is available for this season, and it would become free to use for next year's recruits. Quote Link to comment

There is a reason Middleton, Okafor, and Mendoza are not on the 105, that reason is because the coaching staff didn't want to waste reps on them. In Middleton's case I think it is because he has other issues, academic is the word, and maybe hasn't earned his spot on the field yet, not necessarily because of talent at least if the tidbits we heard about his talent are to be believed. The other two are performance based I assume, if they aren't expected to be major contributors then why waste reps on them early in camp when it is crucial to development. However all 3 are still on scholarship and count against the 85 slots, which is what is limiting our signing class size this year. Quote Link to comment
C N Red
Sorry it took me so long to see this thread or I would have commented earlier. I know who the last spot is for. Here's a hint Quote Link to comment

knapplc
Mendoza and sophomore offensive lineman Brodrick Nickens have been added to the 105-man roster. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
Per Sam McKewon: Senior CB Marcus Mendoza and sophomore OL Brodrick Nickens were added to the 105-man roster. There's one more spot for the recently-departed Kildow, though. Quote Link to comment
