The NRC Handelsblad newspaper identified Henk Heithuis who was castrated in 1956, while a minor, after reporting priests to the police for abusing him in a Catholic boarding home.

Joep Dohmen, the investigative journalist who uncovered the Heithuis case, also found evidence of at least nine other castrations. "These cases are anonymous and can no longer be traced," he said. "There will be many more. But the question is whether those boys, now old men, will want to tell their story."

Mr Heithuis died in a car crash in 1958, two years after being castrated at the age of 20, while under the age of majority, which was then 21.

Are you using this story to say this about the Catholic Church as it is today? That was 56 years ago. Odds are the hierarchy involved has long been dead. By that standard then should we say the same thing of our own government today for the things they were involved with 56 years ago as I am guessing it would be much much worse in what they did to people. Should we feel the same way about Germany because of what they did in the 40's? Guess I am just trying to feel you out on what the point of the thread is, bad story from the past or just hating on the Catholic Church in general?

Great, just what we needed, another bash the Catholic Church thread. We're gonna need a whole dedicated section just for this if you're gonna start going back 50+ years. I see limitless possibilities. In fact, maybe a mod could merge carlfenses anti-Catholic threads and posts with the infinity discussion.

 

Maybe we could apply this type of thinking to every group, every religion, every bad thing that has ever happened. I've got a whole bunch of examples of elements within larger groups that have gone astray. I just fail to see what purpose it would possibly serve unless my main interest was to.....well I don't even know how to finish that sentence. What is your motive or purpose carl?

 

carl- You really should let it go. I don't know exactly how you got so sideways with the Catholic Church but you've got a life to live and it would appear the Catholic Church is not in those plans. Cut it loose and get on with being happy about where you're at in your faith, or lack of faith, life. I don't care which it is but focusing on this one thing can't be healthy.

First off...neither Stalin nor Pol Pot committed their acts in the name of atheism. It's like saying because they had mustaches, all mustache wearing people are at fault!

Little is known about Stalin's beliefs, but most point to atheist because he killed a lot of the clergymen. However, he replaced them once he was finished. He wanted a church that answered to him and established the Russian Orthodox Church. He envisioned himself as a god. Religious beliefs, under Stalin's rule, were suppressed only out of jealousy and the need for power.

If they are facilitating/aiding and abetting child rape and castration, yes. Are you OK with the coverup that resulted in the molestation of more young boys . . . all in an effort to try to protect the image of the church?

Not weak at all, you cherry pick the most egregious stories you can find on the church, why can't I do the same? And no if you aren't Catholic you are Stalin or Pol Pot that is weak I never even said that. I pointed out what happens when aethists who have no value for human life get to a postion of power what evil can really be done. The aethists far outweigh the church when it comes to crimes against humanity.
