So, it's sexism and racism now?

This is pretty pathetic.

it is political, no doubt, but i doubt sexism AND racism; or either for that matter. (i also might be somewhat influenced in my new found joy of finding common ground with brb).

Who's surprised by this? After the Republican's poster boy, Mitt Romney, publicly supports a doofus who blathered on about "legitimate" rape, the backlash from women should come as no surprise whatsoever.

Get used to it. The more the Republican Intelligentsia clings to 1957, the more blasting they're going to get.

Karma's a bitch, as they say.

Yea. Too bad it isn't reserved for the current administration. Oh no it is, its called the economy. Only we all get to suffer.

Knapp, you don't think it is a bit over used and tired to continually throw the "sexist" "racist" card when things aren't going your way. (Not yours, the admins)

I guess it would be better if Condi Rice came out and called her either a liar, incredibly naive or just plain stupid.

What Susan Rice said: "In fact this was not a preplanned, premeditated attack. That what happened initially was that it was a spontaneous reaction to what had just transpired in Cairo as a consequence of the video," she said. "People gathered outside the embassy, and then it grew very violent. Those with extremist ties joined the fray and came with heavy weapons, which unfortunately are quite common in post-revolutionary Libya, and that then spun out of control."
What McCain and others said: The Democratic women directed particular ire against McCain, who said Rice was "not being very bright" in her comments.

Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham who earlier this week called Rice unqualified and untrustworthy and promised to scuttle her nomination if President Barack Obama nominates her to succeed Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

So what's the issue anyway? I doubt that McCain or any other legislator would be kinder if the Ambassador was a white male. They're trashing her because she's a candidate for Secretary of State. Not because of her race or gender. Why should Susan Rice be treated any differently--be treated more kindly--just because she's a woman and black? If she does become Secretary of State the diplomats of other countries won't cut her any slack.

I hate it when people of a "disadvantaged" minority want to be considered equal, but then want to be treated better than equal. So I don't. That is, I don't treat them any different--better or worse--than if they were a lowly pale male. Like me. /gets off soapbox.

Define "continually" because, near as I can tell, this is the most-publicized public slapdown of the Republicans for their anti-woman stance.

Not joking one bit - you had damned well better get used to women not tolerating the Republican derp and publicly shaming them when they spew it. It's not the 1950s anymore. Women can, and will, bitch-slap those who want to make them second-class citizens because of their gender. And it's a good thing for Republicans to get slapped down like this. Hopefully they learn from it.

So it is "anti-women" to question the US Ambassador to the UN, who for 12 days blamed the attack on a 6 month old video? We now know that Petraeus put the info in the memo as it related to Al-Qaeda, but someone sent Rice out on the spin circuit without this info. Is that what we are to believe? So if Obama sent her, as he claims, did he delete the info? Did Rice? To blame this on sexism is ridiculous. Pay no attention to who knew what when. Let's focus on the subterfuge of sexist comments.

To champion the Dems as the bastion of feminism is also ridiculous. Republicans are pro-life so it makes them sexist? Catholic institutions do not want to pay for abortions and contraceptives so they are sexist. Churches? Where is the outcry of LA making porn stars where condoms? How sexist.

The Lily Ledbetter was a decision made AFTER the Supreme Court struck down her complaint. It added additional time to file a complaint about unequal pay, but did nothing to assure fair pay. Look at the current pay disparity in Obama's own staff. Not exactly equal. 18% difference between males and their female counterparts. To save you the trouble, the act was passed in January of 2009 with no real Republican support in either the House or Senate. Not that it matters to you, but they stated that it could lead to frivolous law suits and the extension could also make companies liable for issues that occurred under managers no longer employed.

The issue here, with Benghazi, has nothing to do with sexism or racism or any other ism. Well maybe Islamic radicalism................

And the whole "you better get damned well use to it" comment is really unlike you.

It's a common tactic used - unfortunately successfully - to counter political charges with a distraction in order to change the topic.

That's all this is.

It's not a "backlash from women" against Republicans like Knapplc hopes.

It's politicians playing games and the media playing along.
