Blackshirts007
As we all know Manti Te'o is getting all of this heisman talk. He obviously will not win it, but he is a great player. He flies around the ball making all sorts of plays, but if you take a closer look at his numbers, well check for yourself. Compton: 92 tackles , 6 TFL, 3 sacks, 0 int. Te'o: 96 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 6 Int. Now when comparing Te'o to Compton the numbers are fairly close, with the exception of interceptions. But let's not forget, there is also no way that Compton is the 2nd best LB in the nation, and i'm sure there are other guys with better numbers than Te'o. Now let's compare them to a D tackle. Now realistically a D tackle shouldn't even have near the numbers of a good LB. Suh: 85 tackles, 24 TFL, 12 sacks, 1 int, 3 kick blocks. Now if Suh coudn't even finish in the top 3 of the heisman race, than no one should. Manti got all of his publicity from that tragic story he had, which we shouldn't discredit, but it only added hype to his season. He is a good player and has had to deal with a lot, but the fact is that he's a golden domer and they are undefeated this year and that's the reason why he is in the talk. Thoughts? HuskerShark
Athletically there is no comparison here. Teo will have a big time NFL career, and Compton won't. Compton is a good leader but he can be a liability at times in coverage. Teo deserves to be mentioned in the Heisman talk. Quote Link to comment
Notre Dame Joe
You shouldn't pick a Heisman completely by numbers, then no Olinemen would win. The DE on the other side has more sacks than Manti does. One test is how well does the team play if he's not there. I think we might have lost to the Sooners and Xmanguys without Te'o flying all over the place. Quote Link to comment

Count 'Bility
Te'o plays for Notre Dame. They are #1. They are playing for the National Championship. He has a chance. Quote Link to comment
