gin_32
First of....I'm very sorry for my actions to the Huskerboard staff and members. The juice was flowing very fast but that's not an excuse. Second, I'm sorrry if I offended anyone with my rant. Third.... I really want to talk about Nebraksa football!.. 1 Quote Link to comment

Count 'Bility
Good grief. The misuse of the term "ban" on this board is utterly ridiculous. You realize when youre banned, that it's permanent right. There is a difference between a ban and a suspension. Only Flu has the power to return from a "ban", over and over again. Why is this so hard to understand. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Quote Link to comment

Calm down good sir. It's just a matter of semantics. A temporary ban is still an acceptable way to define it - as the definition of ban doesn't include the modifier of having to be permanent. ban 1 [ban] Show IPA verb, banned, ban·ning, noun. verb (used with object) 1. to prohibit, forbid, or bar; interdict: to ban nuclear weapons; The dictator banned all newspapers andbooks that criticized his regime. 2. Archaic. a. to pronounce an ecclesiastical curse upon. b. to curse; execrate. noun 3. the act of prohibiting by law; interdiction. 4. informal denunciation or prohibition, as by public opinion: society's ban on racial discrimination. 5. Law. a. a proclamation. b. a public condemnation. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
For what it's worth I think we do treat bans differently from suspensions. A ban typically means someone has a consistent history of causing problems, and isn't welcome here. Time off is given more frequently as a reminder about the rules, or even just to let someone cool off. Or get sober, as it were Quote Link to comment
