Fighting Erstad's vs. Illinois

Recommended Posts

Is Lubach's glove that much better then the other catchers? I mean for Pete's sake, Lubach is such a HUGE liability at the plate.... his bat is absolutely useless!!

9 hits in 50 plate appearances... it's horrible!

I watched Stringer a few times live and online. He may be our best hitting catcher, but he is horrifyingly bad defensively. He had MANY pass balls/wild pitches that an average catcher stops with ease. And even the balls he stopped he didn't get around so the ball still bounced up the line several feet. His arm didn't seem particularly good or bad but he really struggled blocking and receiving the ball. I think Fish is Fish, just kinda there and can give Lubach a rest once a week.

With that, I would say Lubach is our best option. He certainly isn't an asset at the plate but if he can control the game from behind the plate and get a timely RBI single as he did yesterday from the 8-hole, that is all we need.
