WoodyHayes1951
They'd rather play their traditional "rival" Pitt (AKA the most pathetic program ever) Give up the Bitchagain game but "we have to keep Pitt on there every year". They really can't claim it for recruiting and the team has sucked hard since the 90's and Johnny Majors. I guess it is now an ACC game. they would keep it even if it wasn't. They also schedule great teams like Tulsa(and lose) Quote Link to comment
WoodyHayes1951
Its still hilarious to see them try to catch Teddy at 1:36 Quote Link to comment

Yes. Nebraska, believe it or not, has a history with this, albeit on a much smaller scale (all of this IIRC): Nebraska and Notre Dame played regularly from 1915 through 1925, and Nebraska was the only school to beat Notre Dame and the 'Four Horsemen' twice. That Nebraska beat the Four Horsemen twice *really* pissed off Notre Dame, and when it came time to renew the series, their administration declined and made a big stink about some supposed anti-Catholic hate speech and signs, and claimed that their players and administration were in physical danger and cancelled the series. I'm trying to find more about this online, but in short, Notre Dame has a history of chickening out of a series if things don't go their way. That they're chickening out on Michigan is just par for the course for them, unfortunately. Quote Link to comment
Creed
The plan is for one major opponent considered a top 10 program (Smith said he asks Notre Dame every year “and they say no,”). So how many times in the last 20 years has ND finished in the top 10? Beating ND does not have the luster it did 20+ years ago. Don't try to schedule them and go after SEC, ACC, B12 top 10 teams. ND can have Navy, AF, Army and Pitt. Quote Link to comment
Nobody
The reason why they duck sound opponents is the same reason why they get slobber knocked in championships. Quote Link to comment

Michiganball
For the most part with SEC it's, if it isn't in their back yard they aren't playing. Quote Link to comment
