Interference call on Davie

It was definitely interference, but the question is was Davie off the hook?

Announcer said that NCAA rules state that a single wave of the arm is NOT a legal signal for a fair catch, but rather a wave of the hand several times.

Can anyone confirm this?

I didn't even know that was the rule, I see returners do that all the time.

I found this in the 2013-14 NCAA rule book, it was clear that he did not wave is hand back and forth more than once

Valid Signal

ARTICLE 2. A valid signal is a signal given by a player of Team B who has

obviously signaled his intention by extending one hand only clearly above his

head and waving that hand from side to side of his body more than once.

It was a fair catch signal, and yes, the call was legit. Just a boneheaded play by Davie.

Okay. I wasn't concerned about the interference call, it just caught me off guard that they said the single hand wave wasn't technically a fair catch. It struck me as odd that a player has to wave his arm or hand more than once to signal a fair catch. I wasn't sure if there was a difference between NFL and NCAA rules on that.
