Fuzzy
It was definitely interference, but the question is was Davie off the hook? Announcer said that NCAA rules state that a single wave of the arm is NOT a legal signal for a fair catch, but rather a wave of the hand several times. Can anyone confirm this? Quote Link to comment

I didn't even know that was the rule, I see returners do that all the time. Quote Link to comment

PaulCrewe
By rule not quite legit, but in terms of eyes of officials and the ebb and follow of the game it was good enough. The other three defenders down there saw it and let up Quote Link to comment
IAHUSKERS1
I found this in the 2013-14 NCAA rule book, it was clear that he did not wave is hand back and forth more than once Valid Signal ARTICLE 2. A valid signal is a signal given by a player of Team B who has obviously signaled his intention by extending one hand only clearly above his head and waving that hand from side to side of his body more than once. Husker66
meh they do one all the time....otherwise everone would do one and then take off like a stripe assed ape when everyone backed down Quote Link to comment
HuskerShark
It was a fair catch signal, and yes, the call was legit. Just a boneheaded play by Davie. Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
According to the rules, if what is posted here is correct, it wasn't a legit fair catch signal. That said, they allow signals like that all the time and the players know what he did would be considered a fair catch signal. Quote Link to comment
Fuzzy
It was a fair catch signal, and yes, the call was legit. Just a boneheaded play by Davie. Okay. I wasn't concerned about the interference call, it just caught me off guard that they said the single hand wave wasn't technically a fair catch. It struck me as odd that a player has to wave his arm or hand more than once to signal a fair catch. I wasn't sure if there was a difference between NFL and NCAA rules on that. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
Davie should've been paying attention, that one's on Davie. Quote Link to comment
