Probably Gase to HC - Del Rio wouldn't surprise me either.

Welker definitely gone. I'm thinking Manning hangs it up as well although being injured down the stretch makes more sense now.

They'll try to keep the Thomas'. Not sure on the others.

I think Del Rio will be promoted to HC and Gase will be hired by another team as their HC. That leaves the Broncos needing both an offensive and defensive coordinator. Not a very good situation to be in, and it's unfortunate that it's happened.

Both Julius and Demaryius Thomas will be wooed by the front office to staying in Denver, but you certainly can't fault them for leaving, especially if Manning doesn't return for another year. Denver tried to become something it wasn't the past month by handing the ball off more and more to CJ Anderson instead of having Manning throw it like he did earlier in the year. But that all makes sense now in light of Manning's undisclosed at the time injury. If the guy couldn't throw it very well, you have to rely on the run game more.

Rough couple days to be a Bronco fan.

Before the news of Peyton's injury came out, I would have agreed. But that explains a lot about how the season ended and perhaps he'll go one more year. Of course, knowing next year would almost assuredly be his last might have some bearing as well.

Two important trades made by the Patriots last season for guys who would become contributors:

1. 2015 5th for LB Jonathan Casillas (Tampa Bay) and Tampa's 2015 6th. This will turn out to be 5.32 and 6.1.

2. 2015 6th for LB Akeem Ayers (Tennessee) and Ten's 2015 7th. This will turn out to be 6.32 and 7.2.

There will be a number of compensatory picks between the rounds, but that's as close as you can get to getting players for free.

The Indianapolis Colts proposed a scenario that gives teams that successfully convert a 2-point conversion the chance to immediately add another point from midfield with a "bonus field goal.''

Under the Colts' proposal, if a team converts a 2-point conversion it would then line up from the 32-yard line to attempt a 50-yard field goal. If the kick is good, the team would receive a total of nine points on that possession -- six for the touchdown, two for the 2-point try and a point for the extra field goal.
