Those who choose a Governor over a Senator...man you better explain yourselves

Governors who are successful have had to work with both parties. They have had to build coalitions from both sides. They also have to be effective administrators. While I agree that some Senators may be more in tune to some national/international issues, typically governors are more in tune to the affects of govt on local populations and the needs of the local populations - main street. 2 of our best/effective presidents of the last century, FDR and Reagan were both governors and they came from different political persuasions.

Either one can be successful. However, a Governor at least has had experience at the executive level. He/She knows what it is like to be THE person at the top. If you have never been there before, there is an adjustment period.

 

Now, I said Governor only if everything else was equal. In reality, that will never happen. I have never voted for someone because they were a Governor over someone who was a Senator for only that reason.
