Moiraine
Mitchell had one INT and 13 passes broken up last year. Trae Waynes from Michigan State - considered the best CB in the draft - had 3 INTs and 8 passes broken up. Not saying that makes Mitchell as good but his stats compare favorably. Those stats don't tell us much if we don't know how many times each CB was thrown at. Quote Link to comment

Mavric
I agree but I don't know anywhere to find those kind of stats for college. Both teams faced all but identical pass attempts but the Huskers were noticably better in yards per attempt and completion percentage. Still doesn't help compare those two players but they would seem to be comparable. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
By the way, I didn't remember this until watching some of Waynes' highlights but two of his three interceptions for the year were basically giftwrapped from TA. So there's that. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Word is if the Huskers played tomorrow the starting CBs (assuming everyone was healthy) would be Davie and Rose. Cockrell would start at the other safety spot (with Gerry) with Kalu being the Nickel. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
I haven't been following but that seems like a mild surprise -- J.Rose in the top 2, and no mention of Mosley? Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Rose was the top backup last year so that probably makes sense. I think Mosley is pushing pretty hard and could be right in the mix after fall camp. I was a little surprised at no CJax but he might have been hurt enough that the new staff just hasn't seen enough out of him yet. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
Ahhh, that's the other missing name I was grasping at. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
MasterPulverizer
I think all of those guys can play pretty tight defense. The one I am most excited to see in a new defense is Gerry. He was really good last year and his athleticism will be on display in this new defense. Quote Link to comment
