Erstad Interviewing for Dodgers Manager

Recommended Posts

The Los Angeles Dodgers' search for a new manager appears to be down to Dave Roberts and Gabe Kapler, but Nebraska baseball coach Darin Erstad is among the candidates for the job.

Erstad, the former Husker football and baseball standout who won a World Series ring with the Los Angeles Angels, interviewed with the Dodgers last Thursday. The former baseball all-star and two-time Gold Glove winner is in his fifth year at Nebraska.
According to many sources, Kapler, the Dodgers' director of player development, and Roberts, a former Dodger and current San Diego bench coach, are the front-runners.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have interviewed nine candidates for their managerial opening and are going to bring back four of them as finalists next week. The four will come from the following five candidates: Bud Black, Darrin Erstad, Gabe Kapler, Kirk Gibson and Dave Roberts. The rest of the field is no longer in contention, according to sources familiar with the search. Kapler, the Dodgers' director of player development, is still considered the front-runner by many despite his lack of managerial experience and denials from the team of that being the case.
