so all those cheap houses east of campus aren't in bad neighborhoods? i don't mind a remodel, but the crime around an area is important. i might buy something next summerish, obviously want to check the town and gameday atmosphere out for a bit first. just wondering. thnx for the replys.

They're working class neighborhoods. A lot of college students live there too. Not really bad neighborhoods. Although there probly is some crime, just like in any working class neighborhood.

cool. i supected that much. no biggie. thnx for the reply.

You might buy tickets to a Husker game next summer-ish, you mean?

i meant a small house. i'll probably spend a little bit of time in lincoln next summer. check the place out. hopefully i'll be working from home by then so looking for a little something to live in. nothing big, not saying i'd settle there, but always have a place to stay during football season. an alternative to buying a 1br broomcloset diguised as a condo, lol.

You got me curious as what houses go for around downtown.

South of downtown there's an apartment for sale for $53,000 near the State Capitol.

There a house 2 blocks south for $65,000 that seems to be in good shape.

Maybe I looked into your inquiry a bit too much, but here you go... Haha!

Are you Mike Riley finally feeling comfortable enough to buy a house? ;)

i'm thinking an investment in a home might be a good idea depending on what happens in the next 3 weeks, but i'm not mike riley, so there's that. :cheers

IMHO, no neighborhoods in Lincoln are all that dangerous. Of course there are some poorer areas but nothing terrible. I lived in the highest crime area in Lincoln for 4 years and really liked it there. *shrug*

i didn't think lincoln would have any areas like baton rouge, i assume the whole city is fairly safe. i'm just looking for something to live in for football seaason and later just for home game weekends.

House or apartment? It might be cool to live in one of the new Haymarket apts. You're going to get completely opposite suggestions if you're not more detailed though. For instance I'd prefer not to live east of 33rd street or south of South street. But I like old houses and being able to buy things from local stores that I can get to on a bike. I'm sure there are people here who would never have any interest at all in living where I like to live.

it depends on what i'm getting for my money. i can remodel a house by myself over time. i wouldn't mind a condo either, but i doubt i'll rent. as far as lifestyle, i do like an area where i don't have to travel very far on a day to day basis. if i can walk instead of drive, i'd prefer that, but i don't like to shop everyday.
