I think Langsdorf struggles on what to call after the initial script is complete and the defense has shown what they are going to do. Then they are able to regroup during halftime and do well in the 2nd half. Quote Link to comment

Nebfanatic
Where can we get statistics by quarter I'd be interested to see what other conclusions could be drawn Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Here you go - not sure why they don't have yards In the 2nd Quarter: #104 in scoring (5.3 ppg) #64 in Time of Possession (49.13%) In the 4th Quarter: #2 in scoring (14.0) #2 in TOP (66.52%) Quote Link to comment
HuskerfaninOkieland
I wish they played the entire game like they do the fourth quarter Quote Link to comment

Running the ball wins games. Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
This 4th quarter thing is interesting. I finally got some time to re-watch some games over the past few weeks. Just trying to see. Now i think I know football to an extent. So I look for little things. Technical adjustments in running, blocking, play calling, alignment, etc. over the course of the game that finally takes hold in the fourth qtr. And I dont see anything glaring that sticks out in my eyes. Could it really be that we're just in better shape than these other teams? I heard this question on overreaction saturday too. Could it really by that simple? I have a hard time believing. but i just dont see anything glaring other than a group of mentally tough ballers understanding the process of a full 60 minute game, and not overreacting to irrelevant struggles with 40 minutes still left to play int he game. Really interesting to see what happens next two weeks in this regard. Esp if Wisc builds a 14-0/17-3 type of lead in the first half, which based on these numbers, is very VERY possible. ColoradoHusk
I wish they played the entire game like they do the fourth quarter I don't know if it's as easy as saying "NU needs to run the ball as much as they do in the 4th quarter." There are so many circumstances that leads NU to run the ball as much as they do in the 4th quarter. Yes, Langsdorf could try to run the ball "more" in the 2nd quarter, but I don't think the 4th quarter game plan is the answer to all of NU's problems. Quote Link to comment
NUance
You'd have to think that conditioning has something to do with this. It would explain why our running game in particular is more effective in the fourth quarter. : Quote Link to comment

At some point that deeper roster and more talent is going to take control of the game physically. Quote Link to comment

Cuz i'm not seeing anything major in terms of schematical adjustments. Basically, what it's amounting to is, are we really THAT much better conditioned? Quote Link to comment

I think that stat we have run the ball basically twice as much in the fourth as we have in the second is a reason. We need more successful first down runs in the second quarter which will allow us to do alot more on offense Quote Link to comment
