The video is a senator in the democratic party saying on live tv that he vote for Trump over Bernie.

So that line you just said at the end gets Trump re-elected.  It is the same thing as every Bernie supporter writing in his name.  Every Warren supporter writing in her name, etc.  Either you vote for Bernie or you vote for Trump its that simple.  But moderates have a harder time saying they'd vote for Bernie no matter what.  But expect us to vote for the moderate no matter what.  Doesn't make much sense to me.

Knapp has said he will do what it takes for Trump to not have a second term.

You just had a moderate two posts up say he will not vote for Bernie...

I'm a Moderate. I'll vote for Bernie.

Exactly. I'm not sure why this is being made harder than it is.

I don't know how many times we have to talk about the "extreme" left.  Its like Bernie and Warren answering the "how will you pay for it?"  And "will middle class taxes be raised" a zillion times even though they've answered it a zillion times already.

So, I'm supposed to just be quiet and not express my desires in a candidate.

I'm just supposed to fall in line and fully support Bernie or Warren or whomever the left nominates because I hate Trump.

Got it.

You can speak out all you want.  You can vote for who you want.  Doesn't mean we have to pick who you want.

You don't have to fall in line.  Vote for a third party candidate.  But don't get mad when we do the same thing and Trump gets re-elected.

Wait....so, if a moderate is nominated by the dems, you won't vote for them....thus allowing Trump to be reelected?

Double standard much.

My God, this is the whole point of this conversation.  Progressives are obligated to vote for moderates NO MATTER WHAT.  But moderates say, well Ill vote third party republican, not vote at all or vote for another dem and that's fine.

Yes, Ill vote for whoever the nominee is because Im not a hack.

Aren't you denouncing people who won't vote for a progressive candidate? And then in the next breath you say you'll vote third party, and the context of this thread seems to indicate you'd do so because you're upset people won't vote for Bernie?

You really are very confused in this conversation aren't you?

Every single moderate in this conversation has condemned the idiot in the video AND has expressed they will vote for whomever so that Trump gets defeated.

You seem to have a problem with my WISHING that person were a moderate and expressing that I believe it would be easier to defeat Trump if a moderate were nominated.

YOU on the other hand...correct me if I'm wrong....just expressed that you will NOT vote for a moderate...thus making it easier for Trump to win.

And....you accuse me of a double standard?

I understand the desire to win the party back from corporate dems - this is an issue with both parties. - Both parties  have been taken captive by corporate interests.  The SC ruling several years ago only strengthened this.   We need campaign reform badly and I think we both can agree on this.

I think long term - post Trump -I say have at it - make the Dem party as left of center as you want. Let the voters decide if that is where America needs to go.   Actually there is the Communist Party of America if you want to really go left.  But right now, the cancer on the political landscape is Trump, His GOP supporters etc.   In times of a just war (think WW2), we become one America.  The same is true now.  We don't need an opposition candidate that will drive voters to Trump - even if they have to hold their noses to do so.  A more palpable center to center left candidate will give more voters a real choice to consider instead of Trump.

PS:  I will most likely abstain vs voting for Bernie.

Dear god do I pull an Incredible Hulk move when I see someone say they're unhappy with Trump and would potentially abstain in 2020.

Nope, I will vote for whoever the nominee is.  Will all progressives, probably not.  But weve had one moderate say they will not vote for Bernie.  You said you would be okay voting for third party.  Bigredbuster hasn't said but indicates he will not vote for Bernie.  So yes, it seems like a double standard to me.

Why don't we just say that everyone in this conversation will do what they feel is needed for Trump to not have another term.

So...if we can do that, we can get by all the accusations about double standards....bla bla bla.....and actually have a conversation.

I have not decided if I would vote for Bernie or not.  Quite frankly, my vote doesn't mean jack squat sitting in central Nebraska.  So, I could vote for Trump, Bernie, Mickey Mouse for all I care and it wouldn't mean anything.  Nebraska will go for Trump and therefore our EC votes will go for Trump...no matter what I do.

My comments are solely based on the fact that...I believe.....it will be much easier for the Dems to defeat Trump if a moderate was nominated and appeals to more people.

And I believe they will win if they appeal to young people, disenfranchised voters and their base.  So I guess we will see what direction they go in.

Great.  That's your opinion and we will see what happens.

Maybe next time don't take it so personally when someone says they don't like your candidate and wish someone different were nominated.

Not taking it personally at all.  Voicing my opinion.  If it comes across that way over text than Im sorry.

All I ask is the conversation take place in good faith.  TGHusker saying something about the communist party is not in good faith. Argue your positions and I will argue mine.

Would it be better if he said there's a Socialist Party....?
