If you want to champion Capitalism, you have to understand that Capitalism wants to use its considerable money and influence to eliminate rules that prevent it from making more money. Guy Chamberlin Posted June 23, 2023 Author Share Posted June 23, 2023 Left under current rules and limitations, free-market capitalism will hide its profits to avoid paying taxes, exponentially increase its Executive to Worker wage ratio, fund massive disinformation campaigns to influence legislation, move its operations to countries with fewer regulations and more exploitable labor, and replace as much of the workforce as possible through automation. They will also claim they are unfairly victimized and label any real or perceived adversary as Socialist. Although they WILL run crying to the government when they want tariffs or international copyright protections or anti-trust rulings or taxpayer funded incentives or research co-ops or bailouts or giant government contracts. Their rising tide may lift other ships at sea. They may not. The yachts always seem to do okay. Oh of course not EVERY capitalist uses these exact words or actions. But nothing in the above paragraph is wrong. Because they are giants who affect everything, they need to be a little better than the average citizen. And yes, they do fight every f#&%ing regulation and tax. And let's not pretend everyone is a fan of balance. Remember Ronald Reagan's famous 1986 quote: "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the Government and I'm here to help." Hilarious, right? Those air traffic controllers, social workers, mental health advocates, tree-huggers, safety inspectors, small business administrators, and, God Forbid, census takers. Hah-hah-hah! So you'd think an organization called Staunch Moderates crafted on messaging through music and documentary filmmaking would have it's fingers on the pulse. I was intrigued by the small ad they placed in our Sunday Paper and looked up the documentary trailer.
