tattooedhusker
found this in the OWH...how can ya do that?...Source Nebraska officials are upset with the score BY MIKE PATTERSON WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER Pssst. Want to buy a scoreboard? Someone is trying to make a score of his own off something from Memorial Stadium, and Nebraska officials aren't happy about it. One of the scoreboards that was removed during current renovation popped up on eBay this week. The seller is listed on the site as Delrod1 and the scoreboard's location is in Fremont. "This was unauthorized," said John Ingram, NU's assistant athletic director for facilities. "We're working with the company that removed the signs to make sure the situation is rectified immediately." Media Relations Director Keith Mann said he did not know the name of the company that removed the relatively small scoreboards - one from the stadium's northeast corner and one from the southwest corner. They will be replaced by a monster scoreboard this season in the north stadium section. According to the eBay post, the scoreboard is 24 feet long and 5 feet tall. It listed only passing and rushing totals and was located near where the Huskers ran onto the field. It's billed on the site as the "Tunnel Walk" statistics board, and the seller has listed several possibilities where it might find a new home. One would be a sports bar, another would be a large rec room. Another fun idea, according to the eBay post, is to wire it to read 499 yards rushing and 499 yards passing and then point it at your neighbor who cheers for Oklahoma. There are several pictures of the scoreboard on the eBay post, including some that show the potential seller - or sellers - standing next to it. Attempts by The World-Herald to contact the seller through his e-mail address were unsuccessful. The opening bid on the scoreboard is $99, and the auction is scheduled to end July 9. Mann said he wasn't certain how the person acquired the scoreboard, but added the university already is taking action. Quote Link to comment
dbetz23
WOW! It won't be too hard to catch the guy who took this scoreboard without asking. What an idiot. It would be coool if it was for charity or something. Not a guy who stole it to make a quick buck, or should I say thousands. Quote Link to comment

HuskerMan
Someone (I would assume whoever took down the scoreboard) took it to All Metals in Fremont as scrap/junk and sold it. So instead of trashing it All Metals decided to try and sell it instead and hired a ebay seller to sell it for them. hack
so now it's more a question of ownership than if the guy stole it or not. if this elrod guy is to be believed, then someone from this fremont All Metals is at fault: one of their employees asked him to sell it for him. and it doesn't look like elrod has anything to hide: he did an interview with the fremont trib on 6/23. this should make for an interesting story. BIGREDIOWAN
I hate to talk about this considering I'm hating Iowa fans more and more every day but Kinnick Stadium was redone this last year and the university itself put their old scoreboard on ebay. Don't know if it ever sold but at least they tried to sell it instead of some other idiot!!! Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
what i can't believe is that someone from NU did not see the value in the old board and use it as a fund raiser for the new one? hunter Quote Link to comment
