huskerguy
Anyone else think with all these screens that it would be cool if they opened Memorial Stadium for all or the "big" road games the huskers play and display them on the TV's there! let poeple tailgate and all that then head into the stadium and watch it among other fans, I bet something like the USC game could draw 50,000+ Quote Link to comment
husker rob
that would be awesome. didnt they do that for one of the bowl games at the Deveny center???? Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
they did something there but dont remember what it was for... but seriously our Spring Game drew 50 some thousand with the whole north closed off, I think letting people in for cheap or donation or something would be great Quote Link to comment
ttheKid1*18
I would go to that. Even for a few bucks, watching the USC game in Lincoln would be sweet. I bet ABC would have cameras there if they knew that and show us cheering like they do for the World Series at bars and stuff. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
I agree that is a very good idea. It would give the university some more revenue!!! Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
It would be a great way for University to make a little extra money and it would be sweet to watch the road games on those big screens. Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
You damn well know that stadium would be rockin' to, I really wish SP could think of this or someone could tell him to do this it would be cool and a thing built into our tradition, home games every weekend Quote Link to comment
ttheKid1*18
Kind of like the Pavillion. That has developed into something really cool, and a game at the Stadium every weekend would be even better. Quote Link to comment
skersfan
Most likely would depend on the clean up cost. Insurance and the Police Department. Traffic control and available hotel space on unscheduled game dates. 50,000 is not unreasonable, but at two or three dollars a person it would not fly is my guess. Half price it might work, but it would take at least a year to get the impact figured out for local business. Just some of the logistical projects to be considered. Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
Plus TV rights will have to be considered too. Quote Link to comment
ttheKid1*18
If it was a game on ABC, or Fox Sports net, they would probably have to do it for free, because it doesn't cost anything at the Pavillion. But if it was on PPV, I don't know if they could do it, unless they charged. Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
Plus TV rights will have to be considered too. ...like what? Its a game on national TV, not even on cable... just get in for University donations would be great Quote Link to comment
skersfan
Being that it would be closed circuit to one sight I think we could skate the TV rights, but who knows. Ask AR about that stuff. Calling AR. Â It is a great idea, but I think the cost would be very prohibitive. Sure could be wrong though. Quote Link to comment
ttheKid1*18
It's not like they couldn't sell food and stuff to make money. People would be hungry and would buy food, so the program would make money some way. Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
I emailed SP for what its worth, huskers.com gave his email so I guess its worth a shot, whether it gets to him or not who knows Quote Link to comment
