  1. Wife and I finished the Ken Burns Vietnam documentary last night. To say it's incredible would be an understatement.

      I watched it.  You forget about the French being involved over there way before the US sent over troops.  It seemed the war changed from 1965-1970 to 1970-1975.   Liked how he discussed the war at home as well.  The closing song was spot on for each episode in my opinion.

       

      I don’t understand why they had to retake hills twice?   

       

      My father, who joined the USMC in 1974 said the presentation was slanted some towards a liberal point of view.  He says that the politicians would not let them win.

       

      Looking at it now the fear of communism spreading was overblown.

      @OH HSKR FAN it's easy to say now that the commie threat was overblown but it was a very real and disturbing thing prior to the wall coming down. Heck I can still remember the duck and cover drills in grade school because any day the reds we're going to start dropping nukes on us.

      Mutually Assured Destruction was a big deterrent.  Nobody would have won the day there.   Guess I would have had to been alive then.

       

      Different perspective compared to someone who entered the world in 1976.
