Two Very Embarrassing Trends That Can End Saturday.

Obviously this game looms large for Nebraska's prospects of being in the top ten, remaining undefeated, and keeping the inside track for the conference title.

However, two trends stand out, showing that Nebraska has walked away from something it used to pride itself on. And those trends can end with a win.

#1. The last time Nebraska beat a top ten team on the road was 1997.

-ouch.

#2 Nebraska is 4-9 in neutral site/road games at night, with the last win coming against Fresno.

2008

Loss at Oklahoma 62-28 (ESPN)

2009

Win at Mizzou 27-12 (ESPN)

Loss Big 12 Champ vs. Texas 13-12 (ABC)

Win Holiday Bowl vs. Arizona 33-0 (ESPN)

2010

Win at Kansas State 48-13 (ESPN)

Loss at TAMU 9-6 (ABC)

Loss Big 12 Champ vs. Oklahoma 23-20 (ABC)

Loss Holiday Bowl vs. Washington 19-7 (ESPN)

2011

Loss at Wisconsin 48-17 (ABC)

2012

Loss at UCLA 36-30 (FOX)

Loss at Ohio State 63-38 (ABC)

Loss Big 10 Champ vs. Wisconsin 70-31 (FOX)

2014

Win over Fresno (plumbers hero network)

vs. Michigan State ?????

Avg. Points Scored: 24.75

Avg. Points Allowed: 30.67

----a win would do a lot to prove any bias present. Here's the spotlight on our white jerseys again, let's see if they flourish or wilt.

How many teams have a good record against top 10 teams on the road?

I'm guessing none have a winning record against top ten teams on the road. But.........not beating a top ten since 1997 (17 years) on the road, that's not really an issue of a "good" record that is just plain bad and unacceptable. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Not just the record. A win. Any win. There hasn't been one in 17 years.

Do you know how many chances we have had or how this streak compares to other schools?

We had 8 chances

98-99 vs #2 Kansas State. Lost 31-41

00-01 vs #3 Oklahoma. Lost 14-31

04-05 vs #2 Oklahoma. Lost 3-30

06-07 vs #4 USC. Lost 10-28

07-08 vs #8 Kansas. Lost 39-76

08-09 vs #7 Texas Tech. Lost 31-37

08-09 vs #4 Oklahoma. Lost 28-62

11-12 vs #7 Wisconsin. Lost 17-48

Edit: Looks like someone got to it before I did

On the plus side, they ended the "Mrs NUpolo8 in attendance curse" this year. So there's hope.

And that recap is depressing.
