  1. Funniest part of the entire episode is Baldwin's assertion that (paraphrasing)............'American Airlines hires catholic gym teachers from the 1950's to serve as flight attendants'......................
  2. Yes, yes, yes. We have to post the position for 15 days. Hasn't been posted yet. Sipple has already said the money is there, and if Mike says he wants 'X' and Bo wants to bring him in, I'm sure Bo is professional enough to acquiesce. Mike brings both a recruiting prowess and one of the few defensive minds that I can easily say would equal or surpass that of Carl's (IMO). Plus, Mike is just as hot-blooded as Bo and Carl, so it's not like we're putting the Incredible Hulk in as DC or anything. And people have remarked that we have potential DC talent in our staff now, but that it needs a few years to simmer--hiring Stoops would provide us that time, *and* provide a first-hand class in how to be an effective DC. It's a win-win situation if there ever was one, IMO. I'm sure Mike would command $750k/yr., at least, and he would be worth every penny. What does that kind of salary package portend for any potential chemistry issues with our OTHER coordinator and/or staff ?
  3. Correct, and if the potential pool includes coaches from the NFL, the elasticity of the timeline becomes even more ambiguous..................
  4. I'm assuming/hoping the white seating will be a pit area for the students to go crazy? If this thing can hold 16-18K they better darn well make sure that student section is packed, even if they have to sell the tickets for $1. The student section is expressly designed for STANDING........................so your wishes should be fulfilled.................
  5. The Pinnacle Bank Arena........................and Husker basketball fans.............................neither paying interest for the last 10 years...................
  6. That SEC 56 million can buy a lot of refs, votes and salivating espn sycophants................
  7. Agree with the lone caveat being that pesky mobile QB....................
  8. Good info.....................anyone know for certain how the conference divvies it up....................?
  9. Why? He is a great coach. Word was when he left for Indiana..............it was a mutually satisfying decision for all parties .........................
  10. Am I the only one who thinks it is a HUGE recruiting advantage to have the head coach of a national team get free face time and (by extension) tremendous exposure to recruits all over the country ?? The NCAA in it’s infinite wisdom vociferously monitors seemingly every minutia of coaches and players contacts (even to the absurdity of watching your own son play if he is a potential recruit), yet sees no “recruiting advantage” for Saban to be fawned over by ESPN and in effect, lobby for his team in the bowl selection process? Where is the symmetry and logic here ? If I recall, this issue surfaced a number of years ago when Coach K was doing national commercials during the NCAA basketball tournament. There was a lot of squawking, but I can’t recall if anything changed because of it. Evidently not. (Admittedly, I’d probably think it was less offensive if Bo or Doc were getting the face time, but that isn’t going to happen). Whining?………..or is it inconsistency by the NCAA………….??
  11. Count me as another vote for those who can’t understand the whole fracas over Husker fans being somehow unable or unworthy to root for Creighton when they AREN’T playing Nebraska. Same deal with Creighton basketball fans who are also Husker football fans. My gosh………….what a crime………….!! You are not PURE. Those who deal in such a black and white world where your credentials are suspect if you dare to exhibit multiple loyalties must have had issues matriculating junior high. I am an example of a lifelong Husker fan in all sports. But, when Creighton is not lining up head to head against Nebraska, I’d rather see another Nebraska state Division 1 school win as opposed to lose. Whether it’s basketball or baseball, chances are some local Nebraska kids are involved and if their careers have been noteworthy in high school, I’d like to see them have some success in college. It’s also been easy to do this because I’ve liked Altman and I like McDermott. I also like the Creighton baseball coach. If any of them were jerks, it would be a different deal. Simple as that.
  12. Doc can make a basketball game look like a LSU/Alabama football snooze-fest..................................but without any residual titillating entertainment value.....................
  13. This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ And it still leaves open the possibility to fill the open spot with a PROVEN national recruiter.................
  14. Pretty amazing to shoot that poorly, miss so many bunnies, have some questionable charges and still be within 3............... Doc.............let your athletes play..................slowing them down makes them hesitant and unsure.......... You've constantly bemoaned the lack of "athleticism"................now you've got it........unshackle them...................
  15. Yeah sorry, I can't get the HD version either...............but it was listed as 1003 HD in the Journal TV listings today...............should have known better than to trust the local misprint.................. Can get it on regular channel 3....................
  16. Good info........................and Erstad and Bolt WILL have them playing full bore...........................I see baseball becoming our Second B!G champion in this inaugural year.....................
  17. Agree. So not only can we have the circle jerk of 2 SEC teams playing each other for the championship, we can now just go ahead and crown 2 SEC teams as champs. Need to go on a few carpet bombing runs down south. f#*k playoffs. Amen! Playoffs...pffftt.....so let's assume LSU beats Bama again...ok they've more than earned it right? I'd give LSU a share of the title if Bama beat them by 3-7 on a neutral field. But say we had a playoff. You'd be forcing LSU to win 2 more games to prove they are the best. That's fair. Either give OSU a shot at em or just hand em the crown. Anyone think it's fair that Wisconsin is in the Rose Bowl despite 2 losses? If this were last season without the CCG (playoff game), Mich st would be on their way to Pasedena with one loss. CCG's are a joke...a money making ploy...no different than a playoff. It's just to make more high profile games for more dollars. So people whining about a playoff creating the true champion and "fairness" don't realize that there never will be a perfect system. It's nothing but personal preference and Dbags like Dan Wetzel constantly bitch about playoffs and the BCS ALL DAMN SEASON AND OFFSEASON and use ONLY the convenient facts that support their arguments! Jeez what a tirade...I'm done. I just don't think you should be able to lose your last game of the year, and be crowned champ. The argument that Bama "had their chance" is ridiculous in my opinion. With one undefeated, you have to compare losses, and Bama has the best loss, easily.... Think of the implications. If Alabama gets a rematch who's to say later on it won't happen again. Then the pollsters won't even bother giving anyone else a chance cause the best teams are only in the SEC. that's what i am more worried about. 4 years ago Ohio St. and Michigan were #1 and #2. Michigan lost by 3 and only loss of the regular season. Why didn't Michigan get another shot at Ohio St. in the title game? the only loss they had was to #1 Ohio St.? but instead Florida got it. If you are going for quality losses then Michigan by far had the best quality loss. Spot on.................. The farce that is the BCS becomes even more of a comedy if Bama is anointed and lobbied by the media for a rematch immediately after losing a few weeks ago..........................Why (in the name of Herm Edwards) do we even play the games..........??
  18. I agree with you. I think from both a football schematic standpoint and also a financial standpoint for the university, I think having Bo be both Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator makes a lot of sense. When Osborne was Head Coach he was also our Offensive Coordinator. I think this could work very well for our football team. From a financial standpoint if the university doesn't have to shell out the big bucks to a top tier defensive coordinator and they only have to spend a few hundred thousand on a position coach I think that makes a lot of sense. We already have a top tier defensive coordinator...Bo Pelini. Here is my question for all of you to take a whack at: If Bo becomes both our Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator, is our new position coach going to be hired on the offensive side of the ball or defensive side? I could see this going two ways; 1) We hire somebody to help Papuchis coach on the defensive line. Or 2) We hire Turner Gill back to be our QB Coach and help teach the option principles that Beck wants to use in his offense. Plus this frees up Beck to be just a coordinator. Ok that's my two cents....have at it Husker fans This a better and more detailed summary of what I suggested in a post a few days ago. Not surprisingly, I agree with you............and myself..... I really like the opportunity to free up a position in a unique way.................including maybe hiring a proven bona fide recruiting coordinator who can spend more time on it..................
  19. Imho......................this is Doc's chance to salvage a season that we expected to be a markedly positive step up. Lots of seniors and unquestionably his most talent. Unfortunately, his penchant for horrific coaching in last minute game situations have put this season on the brink. Lose today and probably at TCU on Saturday combined with a very tough Big 10 slate and it may spiral out of control. Love to be wrong, but I won't be surprised if our suddenly confidence-deprived team gets schooled big time today.......................
  20. Channel 3 out of Omaha..............
  21. I'm hoping you're kidding because there is basically no chance we're lower than the #4 team chosen out of the B1G. Even if Michigan doesn't make a BCS bowl and the CCG loser is picked ahead of us (which I doubt), there's no way anyone picks a Penn St. team we beat ahead of us. Edit: OK. Maybe I missed this a little. I thought the Gator Bowl had the #4 pick but does it alternate with the Insight Bowl? Even then, I think we'll be the #3 team which would be Capital One or Outback depending on if Michigan gets into the BCS. Insight has #4 pick, but it's looking more and more likely that Michigan is not getting a BCS at-large spot. Plus, aren't the bowl slots assigned by the Big 10 office--I thought that was one of the differences in that the Big 10 brokered the bowl destinations and told the teams where to go. And as much as I despite the pointy-uterused whore vermin of Austin and their ilk, I don't want to play them, weak or no--I'd rather play a SEC team that will be a challenge so it will help our team get better. Beating a woefully inadequate and incompetent Texas team would do nothing to help our team... EXCEPT remove the festering Bevo-Curse...................................that alone might make it a worthwhile endeavor.....................
  22. Congrats Badgerfan................
