  1. You have to pay to play at Max. You will be banned. Vert tightly run board. Good conversations, knowledge and opinions, but do not take kindly to folks from other teams going over to start crap. Save your money.
  2. Here's your cheerleader That dudes got some long hair.
  3. Okay, let me break it down for you. There isn't a fan on either of our respective boards who doesn't wish that our teams were meeting in Miami instead of the Crapital One bowl. The entire point of talking trash is to get pumped up for a mediocre bowl. We all wish our team had done better, they didn't, now this is what we're left with. I'm sorry if you're too sensitive to handle that. Go ask Husker thor or hskerprid or creighton duke and they can probably explain it to you better. Of course they'd probably just tell you to stop giving everyone a bad name with the My Little Pony crap, and either way you wouldn't listen, but oh well. Go play with your dolls Cornshucker. Would love to be in MIami. We are few more years and some staff changes away from that. Double edge sword for us playing UGA. I am in the staff change crew. Not all, some. A win against a team who was a few Brady's shy of a Bunch with clock clock management from going to the MNC (here in Husker land MNC is the Mythical National Championship), would be a great win for our program, BUT folks would then say look how great this staff did. Until next season and we again implode in a game or 2. I would rather have the win though. Your teams QB plays to the strengths of our secondary and I do not think y'all have seen a QB like Martinez unless you played Johnny Hypesman (Keisman award for the "best" college player). Of course your running game will give us fits as our DL is depleted and basically non-existent.
  4. Over/under on the number of posts robby1220 gets to before getting banned: 30 under Under.
  5. Therein lies the Husker dilemma- try to stop a run first offense that has two stud freshman RBs- one of whom will run slap over people and the other who will kick on the afterburners within 5 yards of the LOS. If they don't have any luck stopping the run, then it's Gurshall (Gurley + Marshall) highlights with 200+ yards each all day and the game is over mercifully quick since the TOP would be over 40 mins for UGA. If you at least commit to trying to plug up the run game, then Murray carves up your secondary when everyone's all in to load the box. Depending on which Beck (our OC) shows up, we are pretty much a dual threat team. Martinez is about 300 yrds passing and 70 yrds rushing from joining an elite list of QB's who have passed for 3000 yrds in a season and rush for 1000. Currently, IIRC, there are 4 on that list Johnny Hypesman from A&M might be the next. If the only game you have seen is Wisky, if we are clicking, you will be surprised with the ability of our offense. we unfortunately have a knack of shooting ourselves in the foot or calling a stupid game plan. Again, Bo knows secondaries. Hasn't been great against the run. Having no depth and a DE moved to DT hurts the progress. I am not worried about a non-mobile QB in a pro style offense. Nothing personal, we haven't been beat by a pocket passer (with his arm) since BO has been here. We have normally hedged safeties in run support when facing a dual threat QB.
  6. Not our secondary. Best in the nation for a reason. Opponents completing less than 47% against us. Bo's run D sucks, but he has a knack for stopping the pass. Unfortunately, establishing the run game shouldn't be to hard. Martinez has a tat. In honor of his mother and her culture. Why the BS thug comments?
  7. UGA's QB, IIRC is a whopping 1-11 against ranked teams. Awesome. All the SEC records in the world, buts still dismal against ranked teams......... On paper, UGA should win easily and running away, but then again we should have rolled Wisky. That's why we play the game. Best of luck to y'all.
  8. He's fast, faster than anything you have seen all year. You will see the back of his jersey more than you will care too. So UGA, having played against SEC athletes all year, hasn't seen anyone as fast as TM? Ok, sure...whatever... Not at QB.
  9. Have to agree. Kids need to be ready to play week in and week out. Wisky was just as tires as us after having 3 of their last 4 go into OT IIRC. We simply got out coached and beat like we stole something. excuses just make it worse. The kids trained with SEALS in the off season. Went through the "Program" run by a former Recon Marine. All of these guys are SOF and tough. Mentally and physically. One thing that I am sure was stressed was that the mind quits way before the body. Their interaction with these guys would have included a healthy aspect of the mental side of things. No excuses. Out coached and flat out beat. no moral victories because we were tired, worn out, mentally exhausted etc... You just don't get it do you? Wisc was just as tired as we were? WISC cemented their division 2-3 weeks before we did? Really???? Just as tired? WISC was awarded for having a dismal season-- they get the gift of getting another shot at us and the comfort of preparing for us 2-3 weeks in advance Husker cry babies are hard learners You did make a good point though, these are just "kids" out there Yea I do. We got our a$$es handed to us on national TV to the tune of the most amount of yards ever put on a Husker team on the ground since forever and people are now trying to say we were tired. Anyone who has been a fan for more than 10 years should throw up in their mouth that we have fallen so low as to try and blame a blow out loss on being tired. Embarrassing. Tired? Why? Because we have no depth? We didn't rotate RB's? We didn't develop depth so that we could start 3 walk-on OL all season so the guys on schollie could sit and watch. Tired from having Cam move to DT because we had no other guys who could play? Tired from chasing Ball up the field after running for over 200 yrds? Which "tired" are you referring to? We got manhandled. Coaches failed to adjust. The better team (on that day) won. Using the excuse logic, we beat Wisky that first time because some guys on their normal D rotation were out and they had a new OL coach (former GA). We beat Michicken because DR went down. Beat NW because they refused to let Colter play QB more. PSU, we got them at home and the crappy call for the fumble. Cry me a river with the excuses. I am sure that the team would be offended that we are trying to excuse their loss. They are not.

  11. If Taylor continues this trend, he would lead the nation for 4 years in a row. Not that I'm a statistician or anything, but has any college player led the nation in a single stat for 4 years in a row? So what is the cure for fumblitist? any suggestions. Each time he runs in traffic I have to hold my breath -- As a freshman and soph - each time he threw a pass I had to hold my breath. He's improved his passing. Maybe this summer he hires a RB specialist to help him wt his fumble issue. IMO, his biggest problem is his history. Teams know how many times he fumbles and specifically target this. No different than a DC seeing a safety who continually bites on a double move. They go after him time and time again. Same with Martinez. D goes after the ball. I think he tucks the ball well. One thing that would help would be to also "cover the ball with his body". Prior to contact, lower your shoulders and bend at the waist to allow your body and elbows to offer more protection to the ball instead of in one arm only standing up straight. Getting blindsided doesn't help. I would also have him work with Brown and the RB's during position drills to learn how to "run through" tackles. Again goes to lowering the body and tucking the ball into the body, not the side with an just an elbow. For the past 3 years, NU has been horrible with ball control. Coaches need to make this a PRIORITY. This has been beat to death, but prior to the CCG, fumbles (not INT's) accounted for approximetly 44% of our opponents points. No team could win with these stats. Throw in INT's, poor special teams play (punts and returns) and it is amazing that we won 10 games. Not a huge fan of Beck. Yet. We have improved dramatically as evidenced by our record, rankings and statistics. I would just like more consistency, more use of all of our guys (primarily RB's) and develop a true identity. All agree that our pass blocking is far more suspect than our run blocking. I would love to see our identity go back to more power with PA passes. Our line has issues trying to get Martinez time to really go deep (although some of his better passes) and timing routes are off as he often is running for his life. I like the zone read and figure we could still run it as an element of our power sets. Unsure if we have the OL really capable of running a true "spread" O.
  12. The team has leadership IMO. The way Martinez played this year showed leadership. The guy might be a TO machine, but he is a baller. IMO, his upside is far better than his downside. Bells block showed leadership. Rex could patent leadership and sell it etc... I think we might be missing the "verbal" leader that we had in guys like Peter, Wistrom etc..... I am a firm believer in lead by example, but folks respond differently. For every guy that says I want to have Crosses work ethic and be like that guy. You have another that responds to "in your face" leadership. IMO, I would have permanent captains, verbal guys picked by the staff and team. From experience, a lot of guys will grow into this role and really hold guys accountable in a way coaches can't. It is a human dynamic when in a temporary position, to not really say much as the person feels "I am not really a permanent captain, so I will not say much." Permanent Captains can set the standard and continually hold people accountable. Then you make game to game decisions to allow guys to walk out on the field with the permanent captains. Earned through practice and game performance. Gives an incentive to produce.
  13. So if Bo goes does he take the entire staff? Personally, I would like to see some gone and some stay. This taking into account the no one in their right mind would fire a 10 win coach. Having to hire a completely new staff would go a long way in killing any hope of a good recruit class coming in.
  14. Where did we find out Martinez leads the country in fumbles? I can never find a reliable fumble stat source. If you've got one, share. As far as Beck, with all of those turnovers, it's pretty damned impressive that he's got an offense with these national ranks: Rushing Offense - 8 Pass Efficiency Offense - 44 Scoring Offense - 28 Total Offense - 24 And that's against the #32 SOS in the country according to Sagarin, and the #11 SOS according to the NCAA. Beck's offense isn't perfect and he should take some blame for our problems this year. But the VAAAAAAAAAST majority of the reason we lost three games in epic blowout fashion lays at the feet of the defense. Not Beck's offense. Ref fumbles: As a team 2010 45 fumbles 16 lost Tied 117 in nation), 2011 32 fumbles 11 lost (tied 61 in the nation) 2012 34 fumbles 21 lost (tied 123 in nation) In 2010 and 2012 dead last or one up from dead last. http://www.cfbstats.com/2012/leader/national/team/offense/split01/category17/sort01.html Martinez 2012-16 fumbles (leads nations) Martinez 2011-13 fumbles (leads nation) Martinez 2010-16 fumbles (leads nation) http://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/player-stat/fumbles We truly have some fumbling issues. Wow. Didn't know we were that bad overall. I agree, the losses are not all on Beck, but I will say had we stuck to the run in UCLA it would have gotten us a win. I really think against Wisky in the CCG, he was completely lost form start to finish and had no real answer. Even though we have had great production from our RB's I question why we haven't seen more of Heard and Cross. With a trio (Rex injury) being this good why we didn't ride all 3 all season. IMO, he is a lot like Martinez, brilliant in one instance and then has me cursing the next. Consistency is the key. Will Beck develop this? All signs point to yes. Does NU wait a few more years for it to all come together? I do not know.
  15. When was the last time an NU QB led the nation in fumbles 3 years in a row? Great stats, but I still look at our blow out losses, inability to develop a game plan to counter a D and going into "pee myself mode". Beck has a lot more to show before he will be up there as a great OC IMO.
  16. Let's see, the Vols have reached out to 3 guys and been turned down. Now Bo reaches out to them. Hmm. I sort of remember this happening to another team in recent years. Have no real plan, fire your coach and then end up getting a guy so far down the list you don't even care.
  17. I am through with the "moral victory" crap from the Cally years. Win, not some lose with dignity crap. Bo needs to preach this. Spartan, on your shield or with it..............
  18. As soon as Rome took some time off, VV should have been immediately thrown into the mix. I think we need to use guys to win "now", not win "later".
  19. IIRC, we currently have 11 DT on schollie/roster to date. We have some who are reported as injured. The issue I have is that Stein goes out and our only "real" DT who can play is Rome. A guy who took some time off a few months ago. So thin are we that we moved a 250-260 lb DE to tackle in an attempt to be a DT. You have got to be friggin kidding me. Cam was our only choice. So basically we had 2 DT, Stein and Rome. Again, WTH. IMO, this speaks to incredibly bad recruiting of talent, horrific development or the worst luck with injuries in the NCAA. You look at the OL and even worse. 20+ guys on schollie and we are starting 3 walk-ons one (Jackson) who was a converted DL player. Then you look at our massive "rotation" on the OL and we really simply rotated about 2 guys through various positions. Again, WTH? Why no deep rotation. Are the walk-ons really that much better than all the kids on schollie. If so, again EPIC FAIL on the staff.
  20. This. With woodshed beatings sprinkled in with those 9-10 wins it loses its barometer as a measuring stick for the success or failure of a program. Looking at Wisky sitting at 8-5 on the surface looks worse than our 10-3, but when you look at margin of loss in those 5 games you see a team that had calls gone their way could easily be 12-1 or 11-2. They look substantially better than us if look deeper into the W-L column IMO. Then you throw in that they beat us with basically 2 simple plays, a 3rd string QB and a GA as OL coach it really makes it worse. Then throw in the final season rankings of the above Boise, Bama and Oregon and our 9-10 wins look even less spectacular. Conference Championships and BCS bowls are a sign of improvement IMO. The first not since 1999 and the second not since 2001............ On the surface it loooks worse, becuase it is worse 8-5 is not as good as 10-3. It sucks we lost, I am not happy about it either. You can't play the what if game. We beat them once and they beat us once. We also beat Penn St, and MSU who the lost to. Does that make Nebraska a better football team this year than Wisconsin, I don't know. But we have a better record than they have. We earned that record just as much as they earned there record. Northwestern was winning all of the games they lost in the 4th quarter, but guess what they lost those games if we look a little deeper are they a better team than their record? Most people in this country don't look any deeper than the records. I agree, but as a fan, I look past the record and see that we have some serious issues. The record looks good, IMO, UNTIL you look at the actual losses. The most yrds ever given up on the ground by NU. UCLA, almost total yrds save Franklin, losing yrds kneeling down, 70 points, 63 points etc.....Our record is what it is, but a thin veil when pulled apart.
  21. Sadly, looking at those available/injured/playing shows a glaring issue in either recruiting, development or both. I know that injuries happen and a lot of folks defend Dobson as our S&C, but do all schools have as many non-game related injuries as we do? Seems a lot of our guys are injured in practice. Does or S&C need a more "functional fitness" approach? I ask as I have no idea what we even do.
  22. This. With woodshed beatings sprinkled in with those 9-10 wins it loses its barometer as a measuring stick for the success or failure of a program. 23. Great, clean hit IMO. As those have said above, defender was chasing down Turner, Bell led with shoulder and leveled defender. He also didn't celebrate and upon seeing the defender down, even showed restraint by pressing his hands down when seeing the NU players reacting so as if to tell them not to celebrate as well. Bell showed fired and grit, a characteristic that normally helps to motivate the team. Unfortunately, this didn't happen.
  24. PJ is not the first player to say this nor is this the first year this comment has come up. A defense should be flexible. It should allow multiple people to be in a position to get the ball carrier. Even when a tackle was missed, rarely was there even another person in a position to assist even if the original defender made contact. Out of position or completely lost.......Not something I would expect in Bo's 5th year with all that was riding on the game. One guy missing a tackle goes for 6 is not a "bend don't break" D, it is a broken D. We gave up 500+ yrds on the ground and 70 points. You could say an anomaly until you look at the OSU game. Wisky and Michicken last year etc.....We have a HUGE issue with scheme if we don't have a DL composed of the likes of SUH and Crick. Throw in year 5 and our only option at DT against Wisky's 300+ lb OL was an incredibly under sized Cam. WTH? Again, IMO, coaching issues with recruiting, development and inability to have a flexible scheme to cover these issues.
  25. Meh. Don't think it'll ever be illegal to quit a job you don't like or want more $$$ in a different job. So you're right. My bad. Over signing recruits. excerpt: By far, the worst of the BCS conferences in terms of oversigning is the SEC, and it is not even close. SEC schools oversign their rosters more than any other conference, specifically schools such as LSU, Alabama and Ole Miss. The statistic that stands out the most is the number of times between 2002 and 2010 that SEC schools signed 25 recruits or more in back to back years: 54, as compared to the Big Ten's 18. That is staggering. We actually took a closer look at all the numbers and posted them on the site: [/left]
