  1. looks really, really anxious. Good pass pro. Needs to relax
  2. Check out MEMRI.org It is actually written in English and rather insightful. Amazing what is being taught in the Madrasa's around the ME and else where. Good read to see how much they actually appreciate, respect and support the good ole US of A.
  3. Here is a good article, in my conservative opinion, about the bias of the media. Now I am sure that those on the other side will call BS, but hard to not see his points. Also like the point that the GOP has completely blown this election and given it to Obama uncontested. The comments pointed out are spot on IMO. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/09/29/mainstream-media-threatening-our-country-future/
  4. UCLA is not a bad team by any means.... I am sure we will see more base defense, but I would expect to see more of Ciante Evans, and Corey Cooper more then the coachers have let on.... UCLA is not bad in an Indiana type way, but they surrendered 650 yards to Rice ans lost to Oregon State. UCLA will not finish in the top 20. NU should routinely slaughter teams the caliber of UCLA. My opinion is that Wisconsin is better than UCLA. I am hoping the base defense was coach speak. I cannot imagine returning to a slow defense that is weak against the run and allows tight ends and RBs to run free with LBs chasing a yard behind. Mentioned the same thought in another thread ref the return to the 4-3 as our base with Whaley, Compton and Fish. David proved you can be smaller and faster and win the battles. Baron Miles and Terrell Farley back in the day (165 and 205 respectively). Mitchell today at 155 and Super D in 2003 at 215lbs. SPEED KILLS plain and simple. The "smaller" guys might get beat up more, but let's try to force teams to adjust to our speed instead of year 5 of seeing too slow players chasing after plays. Bring back the damn peso as our base and get the speed and athletes on the field.
  5. IMO, it all comes down to Beck and his play calling. Initially against UCLA, I was posting what a great game he was calling and then UCLA adjusted and Beck went all Tom Brady back there with Martinez.
  6. Had to check it out myself. Appears to have lit up the practice squad last year and is expected to contribute this year.
  7. Beck needs to show he can game plan for four quarters, won't change until actually stopped, won't try and force the square peg into the round hole and can adapt, change and improvise if and when needed. Until that happens, we will see the likes of UCLA this year, Wisky last year etc...... O also needs to play solid. Receivers who are catching have helped tremendously so far and I expect this to continue. First time since Swift and Todd P we have guys who can routinely catch.
  8. I hope we really lay the wood and send a message. This game has the feel of one that will make or break the season. After last years humiliation, Gilbert Grape running his pie hole, IMO we need this win. Although this is not Wisky of last year, they are still the team that is the poster child of the Big, Bad, Bruising 3 yrds and a cloud of dust BS. We need to send them back to the list of also rans...........
  9. Kind of hoping we would see more of the speed on D than Fish, Compton and Whaley. Hoped Bo would develop a hybrid like Haag or Super D in 2003. Oregon did ok last year with their smaller, but much faster D 45-38. TCU 21-19. TO won 3 MNC's with smaller quicker guys. Do not know why he is insistent that to beat Wisky and the other B1G teams we need some slow a$$ LB's who can't run in space. Boggles the mind. We have shown an inability to win with the "True LB's". How about play the speed until we lose with them. David was a freak, but proved you can be smaller and still succeed. Look at his tenure at NU and now at Tampa. Mitchell seems to be doing well at 155 (lightest guy on team). Not to mention Baron Miles didn't do to bad either (5'8, 165 lbs). I want NU to force a change in the opponents like the Florida schools did to us. A little excerpt about another ok NU LB, Terrell Farley Farley was exactly what the Huskers were looking for in a speed linebacker. Former NU Defensive Coordinator Charlie McBride said he fit their linebacker mold. “We were not afraid to recruit him, even though he was a little undersized for most linebackers," said McBride. "But our philosophy was speed and quickness, and he fit that perfectly for our WILL linebacker position. When we changed our defense, we went to the speed backer. We didn’t worry about if they were 230 or 240 pounds. Some linebackers are blue-collar, ground-level grunts, but to me, Terrell was a high-wire flyer.” “Coach McBride told me that he wanted me to hit somebody first before I would get to play. I was making plays, but he wanted to see me get that pop in on somebody. Instead of making full contact, I would run around and make the play. I didn’t really like making contact at first, especially against certain bigger players,” Farley said. Farley got an A+ for what he did his first season at NU. To come in your first year from junior college and immediately impact a defense and a team that just won the national championship the year before means that you are a special player. He led the team in 1995 in tackles (62), interceptions (three) and blocked kicks (two), and was second in sacks (5), setting the tone for a hard-hitting, playmaking style of Black Shirt defense that ran over every opponent in its path en route for a second straight national championship. (all 205 lbs of him)
  10. As much as I love that this Wisconsin player is playing very cavalierly with PR properness, I have to say, he does make a good point here. Taylor has always to date, struggled when rattled, and by struggled I mean had his game fall off a cliff. The smart defensive gameplan is to keep pressuring him, hitting him, confusing him, keeping him on his toes and feeling uncomfortable. Taylor I hope, will be able to respond to this. If he can't, we will be in for a long night vs. any talented, athletic defense that manages to accomplish this and catch a few breaks their way. It's also true that our team seems to have been more stable on the road, than at home, in recent years under Bo's tenure. Sort of an us-against-the-world mentality that keeps the team extra together on road trips, while allowing the occasional struggle at home when the chips aren't down. All that said, Wisky as a team just seems to be reeling right now. I don't think they have the horses to beat us. Maybe not even to come close. ^ This is the issue to date with Martinez. We have seen time and time again him become error prone when rattled. ie Big XII aagainst OU, Wisky even UCLA two weeks ago. The key is and will always be O line play. Give him time and he will do well. He is not a sit in the pocket, progress through multiple reads, watch out for disguised coverage, stand in the pocket under pressure and throw well QB. If Wisky stacks the box, and I am sure they will, Beck needs to assist all he can by play calling to exploit the blitz and pressure. If not, IMO, we could be in for a long night. We need to really go up tempo as well and not let their D get set. Read an article that Bo talked about showing a lot that hasn't been seen yet and the ability to do a lot more from our base set. Something that hasn't been seen, but was practiced extensively all year.
  11. perhaps we did it to embarrass wiscy. convinced them we were wearing alt. unis. so they would, then when they get here, we will come out out in our traditional garb and they will be stuck with their stupid alt. unis. [*finger pyramid of evil contemplation*] I like our helmets and the jersey, but the red on red not so much. It still looks better than Wisky's though!
  12. I have said numerous times, Martinez in the passing game is only as good as the plays we call. Against an aggressive blitz, to ask him to stay in the pocket and read disguised coverage is a recipe for disaster. I still remember Wisky saying it was the easiest game they planned for all last season. That has got to change! The WR screens or short RB screens in the flats will eat the blitz alive. Haven't seen it from Beck yet, but hope we will on Sat. I hate to say it, but a lot like Cally used Lucky out of the backfield.
  13. I understand that kind of feeling. If Wisconsin hadn't completely fallen off the radar this year, this game would be "the game" this Saturday. Wisconsin is having a down year. I fully expect Nebraska to take this opportunity to embarrass them the way they embarrassed us last year. I hope we really shove it down their throats. If we can't manage to do that to a "down" Wisconsin team, then we can still consider this program as an outsider as far as elite status goes. These ABC night game conference openers are when the big dogs either "attack" or get put on a leash. I hope we attack the sh#t out of them. Damn I'm pumped for this game. I agree. Time to shine against a quality opponent for 4 quarters on the big stage in all aspects of the game, special teams, offense, defense and especially COACHING. no doubt on O we have more weapons than I can remember in many years. I just hope that Beck doesn't Jessie Spano (Saved by the Bell cross thread points!) and start trying to "prove" Martinez can throw under duress from the pocket against an 8 man front. I also hope to see Beck bring in a play I haven't seen run since TO, the RB screen and draw plays to counter what I am sure will be an relenting rush much like UCLA or even Seattle on Mon night. Beck needs to bring heavy, heavy power up the gut and then hit the quick flats and screens to get the ball to our play makers in space. Imagine a WR screen to JT when all he has to do is actually run straight. 6 Points guaranteed! Also, Please Beck, if a play/scheme is working, force Wisky to stop us. Don't get cute. DO NOT ADJUST UNTIL WE HAVE TO. ie do not go into passing shell like UCLA when the sweeps and power had them reeling. Bo, pressure, pressure, pressure. Speed off the edge. Force Wisky to beat us on the arm of the QB. 8 in the box, head hunters on the Island and bring the heat each and every play. Hit (when legal) the QB on EVERY PLAY. Make him gun shy to even stay in the pocket. Welcome their RS RB to the B1G. When they are down, place foot on neck and press. No more playing to not lose, let's play to win. Force them to stop us. If they can't, run it up.
  14. Last year, until Beck went all Air Raid, we were winning. 3 Picks on the next 3 series resulted in 21 points before we even knew what hit us. Team folded. Same thing at UCLA. (team didn't appear to quit, but seemed dazed and confused) IMO, we are MUCH improved offensively. Wisky is down with the loss of Wilson, OC, other staff and their O line. If Beck calls plays to the strength of this team, we will win. Our D line is no better or worse than last year (perhaps slightly better with youth and E Martin). LB, obvious downgrade without David. DB's, pipe hittin MFers in the back that will lay the wood ie Cooper, Osbourne, Evans, Smith, Mo, Stafford etc.... BIG improvement over last year. We have RB's who can pound the rock, receivers who can catch and Martinez rocking 70.7% completion rate. Suck it B1G., NU is back. (pass the kool aid). Just have to find a way to stop the run game! Beilema doesn't appear to be a genius. That guy is gone. Bo might not be the master of Chess either, but appears to be learning.
  15. To paraphrase McBride.... We recruited speed, tackling ability and then size. Worked out great for NU. Just get our best athletes on the field. Screw this "a guy has to look a certain way" BS. Look at David. He did ok. Get our speed on the field. Make the O adjust to stop us. Quit putting sub par athletes on the field. The new Wisky QB is no Wilson. Blitz his a$$ into the stone age. Every play, and I mean every play put a hat on him. Make him QUIT.
  16. I agree. But it also goes back to last season when Michigan State blitzed and pressured Robinson to the tune of 3 INTs and a FF or something very similar. And did Bo look at that tape and say we should probably try something similar? Nope. Our DL played "contain" while the back seven was in a soft zone most of the time and we got absolutely torched. For a defensive genius, sometimes Bo isn't very bright. No doubt. Now, I do not realistically think we have the talent of Bama, but I do think we stack up well with the likes of MSU, Notre Dame, Iowa etc as teams that have gotten after Robinson. IMO, we have the DB's to go on an island as long as the front 7 smack the mobile QB's around. IIRC DR threw 4 int's yesterday. Hopefully Bo reads the board and puts some of our plans to work. It worked after UCLA!
  17. This would be good for NU if he's not playing, but he's been a non-issue this season so far. Not nearly as explosive or threatening as last year This would probably be true if they didn't have white as their backup. The kid only was a 1000 yard rusher two years ago and just got lost in bell's monster year last fall. Either way both are missing what lined up in front them last year New O line and no Wilson equals issue. Wisky, contrary to opinion, is not like the Huskers of the 90's where we never lost a thing with graduation.
  18. Yes!!! Bielma is a slime ball and we need to cook up a major blitz package this week, if we are prepared we have the ability to blow them out The "experts" still think Wisky and Michigan St are better than us and I'm tired of listening to it. Both offenses are having problems, granted our defense has it's problems as well, but we rolled a better Michigan St team last year and have a MUCH better offense this year. All Wisky has is a running game that seems to be non-existent right now based on offensive line play......................I'm not holding my breath, but there should be NO reason we lose to these teams. The games I have circled as worry games....................Ohio State, Michigan, and Northwestern.....................what's the commonality here? Mobile QB's........... Offensively, If Beck doesn't go full stupid, we are one of the most potent teams out there. I worry that when we get behind, even by 3, Beck freaks out and goes all WCO with Martinez dropping back in the pocket ie Wisky and UCLA. If he sticks to the bread and butter of NU ie POWER, we can win more than we will lose. I watched Notre Dame and Bama vs Michiken and they were on Dennard like a cheap suit. We need to play the mobile teams like everyone has played us. 8 in the box and dare the QB to win on his arm. Every play hit the QB. Pass, run or scramble, the QB needs to feel contact and get "gun shy" back there. Wisky, without Wilson, (and last years O line) looks pathetic. I hope that for once, Bo and Co tap into emotion and don't treat this like "another game". I would have the guys playing mean, angry and looking for payback. Stomp a mudhole in their a$$ and walk it dry. MOve on down the line and start making the B1G, wish we had stayed in the Big XII. NU 2012....the revenge tour.
  19. Wondered about Cooper as well during the blocked punt. For some reason, I thought the announcers said Cooper and Mo were back in. Unsure though.
  20. Now we have one and folks wonder if we should Rshirt him. Nope. Good call to burn it.
  21. Surprised to see him. Pleased actually. Doesn't do a bad job so far. Of course, I am biased!
