  1. We have yet to establish an offensive identity. This hurts recruiting. We have hown the inability on oth sides of the ball to develop depth and talent ie burn a RS for. Few carries, play last year and don't see the fold this e Osborn Recruiting is a factor, BUT TO owned the 80's and 90's with marginal recruits. He nd the staff were able to develop players and have them recruited for a specific type of scheme that NU ran and that the coaches know. Does anyone really even know what Beck's expertise even is? Zone, spread, option etc. Is he like Wats trying to run a system he can't teach or has on,y read about? Find an identity, find the victories.
  2. Something about team chemistry builds wins. These coaches seem to have forgotten this. Or the we will go with the hot hand/guy who gives us the best chance to win etc... It was game 6 or 7 before we even had the same secondary in. 3 games left and this staff is still trying to "find what works". I really thought that was what spring and fall was for. I understand that the guy who practices the best plays, BUT your leading WR has been absent 2 games. A dynamic game changer on the side lines. REALLY. If this holds true, then wht not use a healthy threat in Green, A or Herd over an obviously injured/worn out Rex. After his first carry he was limping. If I could see that from the confines of my living room, surely a coach saw it in practice or on the sidelines. I have finally come to the conclusion that this staff has a lot of learning to do before we reach that place where we all want to be ie playing for the B1G, BCS Bowls, MNC, stomping upstart teams like NW into the ground, establishing at least one friggin season where we go undefeated at home. I no longer think that this staff, in its curent configuration can get us there. Year 4 and the same glaring issues ie lose to lesser teams, poor discipline with penalties, blown assignments, lack of depth, lack of playing time for back ups, stubborn streak etc etc etc Last week I was singing their praises, but this weekend, reality sunk in. We can't judge success on one game ie UDub part 1, UT in 2009, Mizzou in the rain or even yesterdays loss, but in the totality, we are lacking in some fundemental areas if we really hope to get "there". Perhaps my "there" is more lofty than most, but we fired a 10-3 coach..................
  3. Good post. I think Raymond ruined more than Evans. Even the other guys who played last year look worse ie Green, Cassidy and Osborn. The triplets need more touches or sure. Beck's play calling is Jeckyl and Hyde. One week great, plays setting up other plays and then this.
  4. Seeing that he has/had the talent to surpass that of McNeil, the current staff moved him into the "adjuster" position like McNeil and have adjusted him from getting any playing time.
  5. Sadly the same reason last season that a one legged Martinez started over a healthy Green and Lee. For some odd reason, this staff appears to be of the mindset that the starter does not come out. Even injured, the "starter" has to be better than the back up. IMHO, a smart staff would have limited his carries last week and even today. Give the triplets a chance to shine. They burned their red shirts for like 25 carries between the 3 of them. At a minimum it would have given us a change of pace back, a new wrinkle for the DC's to worry about, experience to help us down the road and possibly different play calling. The staff baffles me with their whole methodology. One week the greatest play calling and decision making and then look like some grade school kids on the play ground. Boggles the mind.
  6. IMHO, Martinez played the best game of his career. He actually ran with authority, made good decisions and actually saw him do a shoulder pump to freeze a DB. He is really progressing in the game manager and leadership role. Besides a few drops, the receivers were catching the balls and laying the wood on blocks. We scored 25 points in spite of one of the worst offensive game plans I have witnessed under Bo. Maher punted well That s about all I can recall for now. Enough posts about the bad so I won't hijack the thread.
  7. If we stick with the Peso (and I think we should until we develop LB's) have SJB play there. Big, athletic and can move.
  8. Colorado. The world saw we had lost the ability to own the trenches. When we decided that the option was dead and you couldn't win with it. When we decided to go WCO and then decided to be a spread and then a zone read and then an option and then power and then a multiple O and then run some pocket WCO mixed in with the pistol and shotgun. We haven't had an identity in at least 8-9 yrs. How can you recruit a road grader O lineman and he sees us throwing the ball from the pocket, or a pass blocking behemoth who sees us running the option or the 5* WR who sees us run the ball 50 times in a game. Until we decide what we want to be, accept that losses will come until to get that identity and that changing from game to game or personnel to personnel will not get us where we want to be (continually playing for the B1G and MNC) or the players that we need.
  9. The bottom line is Bo gets a pass. New OC, position coaches, offensive schemes etc......I am not calling for heads, BUT it is ironic that it took game 6 to get a secondary that was the same as the week before, that Evans, Green and Osborne played last year, have been in the system and still struggle, that a converted WR gets the start at CB after only 3 weeks, that Carl talks about the lack of physicality from our DB's that Dennard talks about changing the way Sanders had them playing (same comments from Evans) and that Raymond says you can't play like "that" in the B1G because of penalties. Sanders was a huge loss, perhaps the biggest under Bo's watch. Raymond coached CB's at Utah State, IIRC, they were 110th in pass defense efficiency last year and Raymond was the best Bo could get. The best to come to a team that sent Gomes, Prince and Haag to the league. Not to mention Assante, O'Hanlon and the Bullocks to the NFL. Our secondary used to be the strength of the team. You can talk about loss of players, experience etc..., but the inability to have consistent starters after a spring and fall camp, with two guys returning with significant/moderate experience at CB and several guys with experience at safety leads me to wonder WTH? Where is Osborn, PJ, Josh Mitchell etc.....Coaching IMO, or lack there of. Sometimes technique doesn't fit scheme ie Wats and his WCO and Cotton's O line. I really thought the DB's turned the corner last week, but today WOW. Out of position, slow, poor coverage, not playing the ball, not playing physical at the LOS. Crazy.
  10. Hard time staying knowing that you are not playing. Can't understand why the past few games the triplets haven't seen playing time even as a "change of pace back". IMHO, it also hurts recruiting. Come to NU and ride the pine until the guy graduates.........Need to show recruits that they can come and actually get meaningful playing time. Again to JT, really, the leading receiver doesn't play for 2 games.
  11. Think about this. After last year, we had no returning RB's, but Rex with experience. The others transferred, were switched positions or did not pan out. Same with WR and same with QB. Year 4, under Bo and Co, we have shown a complete inability to develop quality depth and talent. From not playing backups in blow outs or playing injured starters over healthy backups.
  12. Wondered why yoou weren't posting in the game thread.
  13. Butter soft when it counts. Owned in short yardage situations. Always blown off the ball. Absolutely. Since the loss of Suh, our inability to stop the run has been obvious to everyone, but the staff.
  14. Let's see a quick TD, onside kick and a TD we win. Simple. PSU. Michicken and Iowa look a whole lot tougher now.
  15. Most on field leadership I have seen from him to date.
  16. I'm beginning to think you have no idea what you're talking about. You are the smartest guy on the board. Until the replay was unaware the ball was not past the LOS. It was pretty obvious in real time. Blue line.... I wil refrain from my commnets as I do not want to get banned
