  1. Was there subtext to this tweet that I'm missing? I don't recall other folks in the program tweeting directly at a recruit like this.
  2. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the TE's they pulled in with this class. We've been missing a giant TE that can go up and get balls in the red zone and on 3rd down. Hopefully we have a qb that can make those throws.
  3. Yeah, USC has a history of doing less with more. Their 10-3 record this year wasn't too much more impressive than our own 9-4 record. Except USC's blowout loss (Bama, 52-6) came in the first game, and nobody remembered it by the end of the season. Our two blowouts came late in the season, and nobody forgot it. Wouldn't surprise me to see crosstown rival UCLA knock off the Trojans and dash their playoff hopes on the rocks. I don't agree at all with the bolded. USC was a late bloomer. They lost three of their first four games. Then, they went undefeated the rest of the way beating both teams that played in the Pac 12 Championship game. They finished off their season beating the B1G Champion in the bowl game. Their losses and our losses may be similar. However, they beat much better teams than we did. They finished in the top 5 in the final rankings. We finished unranked. They were much more impressive. Agreed. 4 games in I figured Helton would be sent packin' come season's end, maybe sooner. But then blamo, they got that Trojan thing up and runnin' and went on a 9 W tear, including impressive wins over CO, WA, UCLA, ND, and PSU. No reason to think they won't be the fav to win the PAC next year. USC is back. USC finished #3 and NU finished trending way down and unranked. USC #3 going into nxt year, NU unranked. Apples and oranges. Dude, just stop watching Nebraska football. I can't believe how you can enjoy anything about NU Football with this kind of attitude.
  4. I'm interested to hear some of the DC candidates. On another note, with the departure of Stewart, does this open up a position for Tavita Thompson to be promoted to a full time assistant? Also, I think the savage in Mike Riley has been awakened. His golly gee shucks persona and pocket full of Werther's originals is just hiding a monster that's been lying dormant for the last 20 years.
  5. This. Unfortunately, when this kid or his little sister grow up and this trauma causes severe emotional problems and creates a variety of issues, no one will be there to understand the circumstances that led to their behavior. If, for example, someone with this kind of trauma in their life becomes a life long criminal, our society and judicial system will say something to the effect of "it's too bad you went through that as a child, but you're an adult but you shouldn't act like that so here's your prison sentence because we don't know anything better to do with you." Seeing and hearing things like this happening to children is about the only thing that I am passionate about. It hurts to hear peoples lives end up like this. If only they could have trusted an adult to help them seek help.
  6. Re Frost - when has Benning ever been right about anything?
  7. Last year after the season is over, Riley speaks to Read... Riley: 'what is your value to this team' Read: 'Two words: swinging gate.' Riley 'oh yeah?' Read 'oh yeah! Now they'll have to spend 3 minutes at practice defending it.' Riley 'you're a god damn genius, Bruce.'
  8. I made the same comment about next years offense during the game. The only difference between the Maryland game and what we'll have next year is the ability to consistently throw the ball down the field. Fyfe made some really nice reads and throws, especially that first 3rd down completion to Westerkamp, but overall they were hesitant to throw the deep ball. Some of that might have been because of pressure, but I didn't see much of an attempt. I'm really looking forward to that element next year. Having an accurate pocket passer, with a dangerous running back (Tre Bryant), and improved o-line will make for a pretty dynamic offense. And for those that will say I'm giving up on this season already - stop it. Like many others, I saw a glimpse of our offense next year and I like it.
  9. I hope it's an afternoon game. I have to watch it with Iowa fans who are also Trump supporters, so basically the worst people in the world. If it's an afternoon game, they won't get too drunk and be more obnoxious than they usually are.
  10. Is it just me or was Dylan Utter in the movie Idle Hands?
  11. Are we not ranked in the top 10? Tom Dienhart / the BTN guys aren't responsible for that ranking. Those are the guys he's talking about - the guys who keep picking against Nebraska. This. Keep up.
  12. This stuff drives me nuts. Everyone picks against Nebraska, we win, and next week everyone is saying "who have they beaten?" Isn't there some stock to the fact that this team is 6-0, playing gutsy football, and did I mention they're 6-0? Logically they're giving us credibility by picking against us, and then taking it away when we win. Stupidshits.
  13. I think you just wanted to post "Seamen" I did...but I also knew him! I'm sure you know lots of Seamen yep. he introduced them to your mom last night.
  14. The reason anyone makes ridiculous amounts of money on collegiate sports is because they don't have to pay their talent. I don't know how the mechanism would work, but jesus 490,000 to run the cottonbowl? And I disagree with the assertion that the NCAA doesn't profit off the bowls. While the basketball tournament is their money maker, advertisers still have to pay the ncaa to the the "officially licensed ..." for the bowl games. Limiting the number of games decreases the amount of advertising spots which artificially limits the supply and increases the demand - am I the only one that sees this?
  15. I agree with whoever said that this was designed to help the NCAA monetairly. Limiting the bowls increases the size of the piece of pie each team gets for each bowl. More bowls does not make the pie bigger. It's a supply and demand thing - if they can limit the number of new bowls for 3 years, they can drive up the price per bowl. Whether or not that benefits the team or the NCAA more, I'm not sure. My guess is that it benefits the NCAA but I don't know.
  16. What part of the training regimen is missing that makes the players so susceptible to groin pulls? Epply has been asked to step in and help figure that out. Does anyone here know why this is a common theme in camp?
  17. Also some extremely interesting comments from Epley regarding athleticism on the football team that I hadn't seen before. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/boyd-epley-s-role-with-husker-football-team-expanding/article_83e84c98-f798-11e5-971d-b3ff55375e27.html?mode=jqm Comments had come up before. I'm not overly surprised that some players would be off in their testing a week after the regular season, especially among the linemen. I was surprised at the time that epley called them out publicly. Felt a bit agenda driven at the time, and still does. Oooh that sneaky Boyd Eppley....he's always got that hidden agenda to transform athletes into top tier physical specimens...that bastard. One of the comments that really stuck out to me was that the volleyball team was more athletic than the football team. That comment makes sense considering that they won the national championship last year. Seriously, as someone else said, loosen up your tin foil hat.
  18. No need to prove I'm a dick, I'll admit it. How about a little preface you jerk face!! Actually the first time I clicked on it I didn't see the tab and thought the only thing on it was stock images. You're not a dick Redux, you're just trying so hard to be.
  19. The crucial error being that he didn't get the 2 weeks of training to prepare for the draft? This stuff is garbage. Please mods, keep sh#t like this in the rumors forum.
  20. Could we come up with a more flattering nickname/acronym than POB?
