  1. Redshirts wont mean jack if we lose the next two games.
  2. Thats what happens when 2 of the top 3 teams are banned from the post season. The third lost badly to AL and lost to ND. Maybe Mich deserves a 20-25, but in all seriousness, everyone in this league except OSU sucks right now. The BCS isnt wrong, its pretty accurate on how teams are playing. Talk all you want about talent, as we all know talent doesnt win football games (see the last 6 losses).
  3. Why did no other media outlet write about this? Why just one story when 25+ writers were there? Look. im not on the Bo bandwagon. Ive stated for years he is too young/new of a head coach and it will take time. I still do, but patience are wearing very thin. But, this is the first ive seen Pelini truely appreciate what he has here. Ive read plenty of how fans are too up and down, too quiet at the Kansas game, too hard on his players..... you know the attitude - "us against the world". Once he embraces husker nation for all its glory.... and its faults - he will be a better coach. Maybe we are finally seeing some humility, maybe its appreciation, maybe he is afraid for his job..... either way, its a change that is needed and I hope it rings true.
  4. not saying that at all, just pointing out he doesnt have to sit out 2 years.....
  5. KRC, he is talking about what OUSIDERS view him as. I like his fire, but ESPN makes it look like he is a lunatic. So, some players only see the ESPN side of it, which may hurt recruiting.
  6. he can transfer to d2, play next year, then transfer to OSU and play immediatly. (ie cam newton)
  7. i think we have the talent, they are just not on the field or in the wrong position. Baker should have never been a DT, our freshman LBs should be seeing more playing time, Martin should have started last year at DE, etc. I think we have the talent to win the B1G, we just dont have the coaches to utilize them and coach them up. THere are a ton of teams with equal or less talent than us, that perform MUCH better. Michigan last year, Okie Lite, Stanford, WVU, KSU etc. They arent stocked with 5 star talent, yet still find ways to win. I dont have to mention what TO and staf was able to do with 2-3 stars, let alone walkons that played for years in the NFL. Talent is a good start, but coaching players wins games. Do we have talent to take on Alabama? No, but geting to a BCS game and winning will start bringing in that talent. Look at Michigans recruiting class this year, its unreal. All from one good season and winning a BCS game. Speaking of Michigan, look at what a coaching change did for them. Under RR, they sucked. Change coaches with the same players and they go to a BCS game.
  8. Skers, this is the same team we beat last year (they actually have less talent than last year). WHats the difference? COACHING. THey got good coaches and look at the difference. There is a talent gap, but its the COACHING talent that is lacking, not the players. We got outcoached at UCLA, and horibbly outcoached last night. You can say the same about most of our losses last year, as well.
  9. I agree with you Nickle (and most of your post in the last 24 hours). just laying it out for him. I would like add - Id rather have a good coach who can IMPROVE players week to week. Paterson and petterson are prime examples of getting the most out of three star talents ..... ahem, much like TO and staff did!
  10. Jskers95 Several reasons.... location, weather, and a head coach that looks like a lunatic on ESPN (warranted or not, perception is reality) The whole SEC pays players is just an excuse. If someone could find dirt on LSU, Florida, or Alabama, it would be out. People are digging for dirt on them and come up with nothing. SImply, they have a better location, better weather, better conference, hotter women, and better coaches. Want to be on LSU or Alabama or even USC level? Win a few NC's and they will be begging to join. Winning cures all!
  11. We folded against Wiscy last year, Michigan, and in the bowl game. We folded last night on D. While we havent folded for the season, like they did under cally, we are still getting embarrased at times and not being competitive in certain games.
  12. how dare you demand excellence! How dare you demand nothing but the best! Sorry, i am not willing to just be happy with a winning season. I dont need NC's, but i expect to be competitive in the league and play in the CCG every year or two. I dont mind losing games, as long as we are competitive. We weren't last year, in 3-4 games, and we certainly were not last night. We got embarrased, plain and simple.
  13. I support Taylor Martinez, I just dont support his head coach and the decisions he makes. One of those decisions was recruiting an excellent Saftey to be a QB. He has skills, no doubt - but i question his decision making skills when the presure is on. Sometimes he does well, others times he seems to implode. I would take a less athletic QB that consistanly makes good decisions. Just my 2 cents, which isnt worth much.
  14. its not whether we win or lose, its how we play the game! We got embarased last night, much like Mich, Wiscy and in the bowl game last year. I remember when tom canned Cally, he said the same thing. Its not about winning every game, its about being competitive in games and not imploding.
  15. we dont lack speed on D, they just werent on the field. Seems like Bo puts in guys who work the hardest, instead of the best athlete at the position. This may be the reason we saw two O linemen leave this year.... tired of being better and not starting. Cant say i blame them.......
  16. suprised you didnt choke on all that koolaid at once
  17. OSU fans seem much more down to earth than michigan fans. Michigan fans just sem snotty, uptight and narcisisstic..... even when they arent very good. OSU fans seem cool, altho a bit arrogant at times - but so can some husker fans. I would like to see a respect-respect rivalry with them, much like OU was for us in the later years. We already have our hate-hate rivalry with Iowa (altho this is more like CU vs NU rivalry.... where they only win once every 10 years, lol )
  18. keep in mind, the ND and Michigan series is relatively new in history terms (about 20 years). The only way to create a rivalry, is to play every year. I dont care if people thinks its dead, fine so be it. Start it back up and within 4-5 years the rivalry will be back. P.S. Seriously? you are the first person to make my ignore list. Every single post you made here has made people dumber from reading it. Congrats on being the first!
  19. id like to see them move him to TE next year. WIth cotton and reed leaving, we could use the help. Not sure about his height, but if he can block and catch the ball he would be tough to cover with a safety or outside linebacker. He have any speed?
  20. Sounds like if we use play action with Reed and Cotton over the middle or fades might cause some issues, since their safties may need to be in a two deep to help the corners againt our good WR corp. I think this game comes down to TMart. if he can get time to get the ball downfield, it will open up our running game. should be a good game, wish i could have made it to Cbus this year
  21. anyone know what type of gap assignment their dline uses? I havent been able to watch one of thier games yet. 2 gap? 1gap? hybrid? do they stunt much with their dline? i am guessing they run a 4-3?
  22. Dont forget how much Rex has taught these guys. Work ethic and all that. AMeer is a different back than he was just a year ago.... I attribute that to Rex. I hope whenever Rex hangs up his cleats, he will come back to NU as a RB coach. Martinez may be the QB, but this offensive leader is Rex, even when he isnt on the field. Rex is a shinning example of a great football player and an even better person. If i ever have a son, i would be proud if was half the man that Rex is.
