Trust me when I say it's not over yet. There's more smoke to this fire I'm going out on a limb and say it won't happen. I will go out on a limb also and suggest that there are a 100 posters on here that expected a comment like that from you.

In regards to the first bolded part, wasn't Green given the starting job vs. Oklahoma in '09 and was then yanked? IIRC Zac Lee came in when Amukamara had an interception and got them down inside the two-yard line. Lee came in and threw a touchdown. To the second bolded portion, I think that's an interesting debate. The situations are certainly different between the two, however, I personally feel like there may be more pressure on POB than there was on Green. Green was hyped and viewed as player that could come in and make a difference, but he was also coming in after a 9-win season. POB has been recruited following a 6-win season, is being tabbed as "the" guy to lead a Mike Riley system, and he's vying against a divisive quarterback who doesn't take care of the ball very well. I may be a bit of a victim of saying all this in the moment, but I think people are expecting more of POB than they did of Green. People have gone so far to say that Riley's job hinges on POB's development - I don't remember people saying that about Pelini/Green. My fear is that POB is named the starter, the Huskers win 5 to 7 games, and the excuse is we have a freshman QB. Why don't you hope that NU will start the best QB and we will win 10 or more games. Sounds like something a NU fan could enjoy? I am hoping for a MNC. Both lines worry me. IMO the most important thing to winning football games is dominating the trenches. We lost two NFL D lineman and most of our O line. If the O line is worse than last year, no QB will be very successful. If the loss of VV and MC allow teams to run on us it could be a long season. Agree with MNC and the lines are the key to making everybody behind them (QB & DBS) look better. Not sure why we are so concerned about the Oline. We lose a guy (lewis) that had talent, however the high rate of penalties out weighted his talent. The rest of the line was ok. We get one starter back and several guys that seemed to be almost as good. All these guys will be a year older and a year stronger. I will gladly take 5 lineman that you never hear their names - which means they weren't called for a penalty and they didn't let the defender get by them for a sack or TFL. The D tackle position will not be as good, however the top 3 are pretty good (no injuries will be the key) D end will be much improved this year. We have talent on both lines - by Big Ten play the experience factor will be a non factor.

To answer your question: if you are saying the team will be better - that depends on who they loss as seniors if you are saying will the freshman get better - then YES However, Do all teams in the Big Ten have as many freshman in key spots as NU. Freshman or not, the point is other teams will get "better" as well. So, you have to ask yourself this... Do you think our freshman will improve that much that they can overcome other teams players growth? Also, is our coaches good enough to develop our players enough to matter? I say, no, Tim is not good enough to do just that. The freshman have gotten better this year, true, but it has been fairly normal improvement. What I mean is the improvement is normal for freshman that are playing as much as they are. Not always true - some teams will get worse because the talent leaving (seniors) outweighs the one year growth of the remaining players and incoming freshman ability. Obviously some teams will stay the same because the two halves of the equation are equal. How is it that Tim Miles in NOT GOOD ENOUGH, however you go on to say the growth of our freshman "has been fairly normal improvement". That would make me think that Tim Miles must be "fairly normal" when it comes to improving talent. Not sure what you expect for a team that has no history of being elite. I will gladly take a coach that has recruited better then any husker coach in history and is fairly normal in player development. Add some good assistants and the facility that the admin has given the program and we have a chance to crack the top 20 and reach the top third in the big ten. Again not happening today, however there are signs that we are heading in the correct direction.

Considering that I'm that concussion +20 years. I had 4 between the ages of 8-14, and I can tell you now that I"m 20 years later from my last I am encountering all sorts of problems. Depression, anxiety, I have a hard time focusing on things that I use to just dive into and enjoy. I can't watch movies without getting frustrated by sitting still. I can't enjoy video games any more except a few. I have a hard time with jobs that require a lot of concentration, I'm argumentative about everything, I have a hard time hanging on to relationships, and that is just 20 years. TBI is a huge problem, and your response is a slap in the face to someone who is dealing with it on a daily basis. No it isnt because im not talking about anyone eles concussion problems. Im talking about zd's. im going to assume that hes had the proper care and has made an educated decision to keep playing.You're expecting a 20 year old who is a competitor and grew up dreaming to play football and got offers from big Div I schools to make an educated decision about this. Is Darlington an expert on brain science and we just don't know about it? Things like this should not be up to the kids.At some point in time people have to be responsible for the decisions and life they choose to lead. If we can send 17 year old kids into battle, which is far more dangerous than football, then we can let others make their own life decisions. The reason I don't like that comparison is because on one hand you're risking your life to protect your country and on the other you're risking your life to play a sport. Also, in the past I've seen lots of coaches let the players decide and it didn't end well. Burkhead came back too early because he was a fighter and hurt himself worse. It's happened other times but that's the first that comes to mind. I thought Martinez was the super obvious one. Agree with Martinez - However whoever decided that we didn't need a backup qb made Martinez choice to be patient very difficult.

We will be a better team next year. Shields is a loss no matter how you look at it - Benny not so much. The young guys will all be a year older and year deeper into the system. Gill will be a factor and we will have a possible wildcard at center. We finish 3 games or more above this season in conference.

Statistical was meant more for overall record. And the conference records are similar between all of them. If we lose that last two games he won't be "1st" for conference percentage. And is winning less than 40% of conference games what we should expect or put as a benchmark. I wasn't throwing out the 25%, I just didn't want to say it was a fluke. I think we played great basketball at the end and got hott, but his overall record is worse regardless. That's fair. I guess it's not fair to judge him on 3 out of his 4 years. There's also the law of averages - I have confidence that if Miles is given 6 years, his records will be better than Doc/Collier. Thanks for taking the time to put this out. For a guy that missed the games this is a nice quick way to see how the game flow went without just seeing the final score on the husker website. I know the record doesn't look good, however we are playing teams that have better winter weather and i'm willing to wait until big ten ball before I make any judgments on this program.

Very serious question - do we throw games to try and get ourselves into #11 or 12? One more game to play, but I think it sets the bracket much more favorably with teams we've either beaten or played close and should have beaten. I guess there's also a strong chance Purdue jumps higher than 8th and this isn't an issue, butttttt... don't want to be near the #1 seed. We struggle with Indiana, and it looks like they'll retain that seed. No we don't, however the path from the 12th seed looks nice. We have owned MSU and Ohio St is beatable. Not so excited about the 11th seed.

Not so sure Miles got out-coached. Swap the team lineups and Huskers win fairly handily. As for the T's, he must be getting a rep because many of them seem rather innocuous compared to what the "veteran" coaches get away with. Puzzling they have singled him out. And, as bad as they shot the ball, the effort on the offensive boards was as good as I've ever seen a Miles team preform. They had a lot of brainfarts but the absolute worst was when Watson had the ball coming up court with a tie game and 9 seconds left. Instead of inexplicably stopping at the time line and getting corralled, if he just forces a drive to the bucket, they have to foul him or let him go. That was the game right there. Once you go to overtime, the more talented team is usually going to win. Tough, tough loss and probably ended any shot at post season in any format. ^ +1,000 Glen Watson has come along ways and will leave NU with some great numbers. However it's too bad he didn't keep going full speed - he would have made a layup or gotten fouled or given the ball to Jacobsen for a dunk - however, we had 20+ shots that hit the rim and rattled out....

Meh. A&M has issues no matter to us. Doubt we and OU covet the same coaches at this juncture. Big hire though, shouldn't have f'd it up the first time. you think maybe taking coach O when he had a chance is on MR s mind? Coach O won't ever be considered. He is not an ethical man. He has dirty recruiting baggage follow him at every university he goes to. The only thing he has going for him is that he can coach D-Line and get good players to campus, kids like him. But he is not a man of ethics or integrity... And Mike won't stand for that. At the end of the day... What really matters is integrity, ethics, and trust. it's seems like now you are saying they have 1 elite running back - that is not the same as a team that is elite at running. However you keep going - it's fun to see you continue to fire.

agree that it is easy to recruit that way, however it is hard to tell an opponent that you are going to run thru a certain gap and do it unless you are far superior in talent then them. I think sometimes guys on here think it should be like the old days playing KU that we would joke with the dline by telling them what we were going to do and then turn around and do it.

Based on? 1) Improved recruiting class last year 2) early signs that this class could be special 3) head coach that acts more like a CEO 4) assistants across the board that have experience at a high level and or success GBR!!!

Let's get over the Bo talk and move on, however to say that a player that was taught by Bo and his staff for 3 years and MR for 1 year doesn't have ANY influence from the past staff is SILLY.
