I was "meh" with the Riley hire. As I sat in the stands and saw NU throw a pass with SIX SECONDS in FG range, it confirmed to me that MR has to go. What in the holy crap was the thought process there? Then watching the players not fill gaps and play soft on defense was the nail in the coffin. I just hope that when they make the change that people understand: 1. The new coach will take over the existing talent. 2. It will take time to get his guys in to run his system. Recruit his players. Establish his culture. 3. There will be growing pains. Old habits will die hard. The team will have to learn to win again. 4. The new coach could be worse. He may the next hall of famer. He will not be perfect. 5. It would be nice to see Husker fans support the new coach. It may not be your first or hundredth choice. If it applies, get over the past. Your favorite former NU coach is not here. He has been fired. Embrace the future and don't be an anchor. I think we all want to see NU win again.

Wearing.black should be worn at funerals. Of course it does feel like the death of a once great program.

I'm not sold on the Badgers offense. NW held up pretty well against their run game. Their defense looked stellar though.

I'm watching NW-Wisky and haven't been too impressed with the Badgers offense. If NU brings pressure, Hornybrook does not throw accurately. Their running back has not had large holes open up. I think the Blackshirts hold their own. Langsdorf better work on a plan that gets the ball out of Lee's hand quick and not kill us with dumb picks. Slow developing routes will get the statue killed. Their defense goes 100 miles an hour and once they get ahead, they are like sharks smelling blood.

I learned my butt puckers when I see NU rush 3 in the prevent defense. Think BYU.

I think you are using sarcasm but in case you are not: I'm glad you aren't the coach or AD. I'm an old fan who thinks once NU gets a quality coach and starts winning the West that better recruits will come. The sell will be easier. Then its on to challenging for a B10 title. NU offers a student athlete a lot. I see other schools make gradual improvements and see no reason why NU cant do the same. Just look at Clemson. They were an annual 6-5 to 8-4 type team until Dabo took over. He made them a 10 win contender for the NC. With the right guy and scheme, NU can do that too imo. FWIW: at the gator bowl, I heard Clemson fans saying they were hoping that Clemson would fire him. Bet they aren't singing that tune now. Crossing fingers that NU gets a winner if MR cant cut it.

Just make sure if Diaco stays, he understands there is no way he will be promoted to HC. I think Parella is getting a lot out of the Dline. Hate to see him and Bray go.

Dumb penalties are a staple of NU. My blood pressure goes up when Lee throws. It is the same feeling I used to have when Mike Grant use to throw...only worse.

I sure don't miss those frozen aluminum (?) benches at Lawrence after an ice storm and Colorado ..cant get much pass the sensor...(pretty much still hate CU). If the Big 10 took Mizzou instead of NU, we would be screwed like a whore on a sailor's payday. NU was never going to the SEC and not sure the Pac 10 wanted NU at all. Pearlman and Osborne played it right. . The Big 10 network is great. The money is good now. NU has a voice. The rivalries will come once NU starts beating ranked teams. I'm thankful NU is where it is, in a stable conference that listens to the schools. NU doesn't have to worry about Michigan or Ohio State leaving like they would if Texas started to tinker with the idea of bolting.

I' couldn't take another jet sweep against his defense. Bo didn't want to be here and I am glad he's gone. MR, although a better cultural fit and personality, can't seem to coach his way out of a wet paper bag.

If 80k fans give $31,50, its paid off. I am sure the fans that went to the game today would have no problem giving to clean up that mess.

The pro system doesn't fly for NU because they simply can't get the right players for it. I hope the next coach and OC understands college football and is not a NFL mindset guy. Lets go back to the basics and fundamentals. NU has been depleted of that for a long time.

I thought the plan with bringing Diaco in was going to be bring linebackers from every angle through the course of the game to pressure the QB into mistakes. I'm not sure what Diaco is doing on defense. Is the cupboard that bare? I would like NU to hit the QB to the point where he doesn't want to get up. I would like to give their offense the appearance that a 4th or 5th guy is coming from somewhere. I want NU to have that passion to destroy people. Get that swagger back. I'd like to see the defensive players play for that "N" on their helmets. Play as a team. Gang tackle. Strip the ball. Make them earn EVERY yard. I want to hear the stadium echo "OOOOOOH" because NU's hits were just plain vicious and brutal. I want effort. Balls to the wall. Running 100 miles an hour. Playing with reckless abandon. I want NIU's helmets popping off because of tackles and WRS getting alligator arms going over the middle. Play like a Blackshirt. My guess that this week will sadly be more prevent defense and no rush. Lot of points scored against NU. I really want the coaching staff to have future success but it sure is hard to see right now.
