  1. You see that is the problem. Most still look at NW as some doormat team that is not good. That just isn't the case anymore. Most BCS conference teams are respectable enough that if you don't come to play they are going to give you a go. NW is not just respectable they are a decent team that can play with most good teams. NW to most Husker fan is like Iowa St. a team that we should just walk through. Except ISU is a decent team that you better bring your A game or you are in for a dog fight. It's not 1985 anymore. Lots of solid team out there.
  2. What I don't get is that we just won a game that basically half of everyone that gave a crap was saying we were going to lose, but now everyone is mad because they didn't win it with enough style. A win is a win. Take it and move on. Sure there is a lot of things to work on, but the game is over and they won. Let it go. They may win 5 move ugly games like this. You got to give NW some credit. They were 6-1 going into the game. They should win a couple more games. They are a decent team.
  3. Everyone knows that. He would have caught the rabbit.
  4. Really, can't some of you just be happy with the win. The team overcame a lot of their own mistakes to win today. I was very impressed that they didn't roll over and lose. They were down' 11 with 8 minutes left and won. The defense did what they needed to do. The offense scored and the defense got a 3 and out. Half of everyone said they would lose this game on this board and they won, but now it wasn't the way they wanted them to win. NW is a pretty good team. Most likely end up 8-4 maybe 9-3 with a little luck. That was truely the best game I have ever seen TM play. He showed grit and lead his team to a comeback win. He played great down the stretch. Just injoy the win. Jees................
  5. He is coaching at Utah St. He hitched his train to the wrong guy when he came to NU from Utah. He could have been with Urban Meyer at Florida.
  6. That's becuase BP doesn't blitz that much. Yes you can do both. What I think they are going to do is commit more bodies to the containment than they have in the past.
  7. I agree. I don't even watch the press conferences. Maybe that's why I don't get too riled up.
  8. T_O_B you make way to much sense. Braxton Miller is a really big reason for the loss, but it probably is a combination of things. I don't think most people understand or remember when they played football how emotional the game can be. They don't realize how momentum changes and just like Shane Falco says "Quicksand" can take over. I mean look at last weekend. TT beats WVU 49-14 and OU over Texas 63-7. They play 5 more tiems those scores never happen again. The real concern here is that Nebraska right now seems to have too much quicksand in their game. That's what needs to change. It happens too often. When the momentum goes south for NU they don't have whatever to get the bleeding stopped. That and cut out the turnovers. The other thing is that BP if he is going to stop a mobile QB needs to commit to stopping him. In BP's defense he wants to limit big passing plays. Because of that he doesn't commit to stopping that running qb. He wants to contain the QB with his front 4, and in theory it works when Suh or Dorsey is sitting in the middle colapsing the center and 1 of the guards back into the QB's face. We don't have the stud in the middle to do that right now. Which means he needs to commit more bodies to the run. We have good enough db's that they can play a little man. They may give up a big play or 2, but that is what needs to happen IMO to stop a mobile QB.
  9. It was a mutual deal, because Bo is the one who helped land Watson the job at Louisville. Watson is an offense guru, like accountability said, his style didn't match the players we had, and Bo thought the system was too complicated. Bo wanted to lean towards what we use to be, with some new. What you see today is what Bo had pictured, minus the fumbles As for the OP's Frank Solich comment, he is winning with WAY less talent and big name players. A coach who can do what he has done, with what most would say "3* at best and below athletes", is quite impressive. With what he is doing at Ohio, you will see him get a gig to a bigger school. Possibly UT, because I don't see Brown holding onto that job much longer, or CU. Those are just examples, not saying he would take a job at either, but those schools would most likely be interested in him. Sorry I don't see Frankie getting a job anywhere else like Texas or Colorado. He is almost 70 years old. If he was 10 years younger yeah maybe.
  10. Norvell left Nebraska to take the OC job at UCLA. It was under the HC before Skippy. I think it was Carl Dorell. He was fired from that job when the HC was fired. Norvell is an old Iowa guy so his has known Stoops for a long time. Isn't Ted Gilmore the recievers coach at USC now? Most coaches when they get to this level know what they are doing. It is just a matter of meshing together with the HC and players.
  11. I'm sure Bo is real worried about losing your support
  12. I agree they need to make a commitment to shutting down the running game and running QBs. Again it goes against BP's philosophy. Its not that he is against stopping the run, its just that it is not #1 priority. Limiting big plays is his priority, in particular big pass plays. They still have given up a few though. Personally I am still a Run the Ball, Stop the Run person myself. BP is definitely a run the ball guy but stopping the run is not #1 to him.
  13. The slow playing is in part due to trying to be perfect or thinking too much. Offenses can only line up in so many different formations they need to be able to get a presnap read faster and get lined up. After the play starts it should all be reacting. But I think he has them thinking too much after the play starts.
  14. I would agree with this statement all the way. That is part of BP's problem. He is preaching perfection in pracitice. When bad things happen they start pressing and it can snowball. Perfection is what should be strived for but players don't play fast and loose when they are worried about being perfect.
  15. A lot of good info being thrown around on this subject. It is correct that NU and everyone in the country pretty much has trouble stopping the running QB. I think most of the problem is not that our defense is that slow or unathletic, but that it just goes against what BP wants to do philisophically on defense. He doesn't really want to commit to stopping the mobile QB, bucause in his defensive mind it makes his defense too weak in other areas. He has seen his defense work against mobile QB's and he thinks he can make it work. He just can't admit to himself that he doesne't hav Suh or even Crick clogging up the middle and putting pressure on the QB from the middle. I do think part of the problem is that he looks at defense from a d-back perspective. He needs to check his ego and change a few things to try and slow down these guys better.
  16. Pissing match? I am just stating facts on things you are stating. Didn't know that was a pissing match. Your stating MSU is better than PSU, I disagreed and gave my reasons. MSU is 0-2 in Big 10 play, while PSU is 2-0. MSU lost to a decent OSU and a talentless Iowa (besides Weisman) team. PSU beat a worn down, weak Illinois team and a good Northwestern team. The record speaks for itself. Nick I think you better go back and read my post never said MSU was betterthan PSU. Never said it. All I said was that I can see them losing to MSU, I stated my reasoning. I don't care if you think PSU is better than Michigan St., I don't care that you think Matt McGloin is the best Qb in the big 10, because frankly I think Nebraska is better than both of those teams. That doesn't mean they will beat either team though. I think NU is better than NW, but it doesn't mean they will win. The only facts that have been stated so far are that Dennard Robinson doesn't play as well on the road as he does at home. The statistics do bare this out. The other facts are that MSU is 0-2 and PSU is 2-0 in conference play. Other than that everything has been opinion. I could see us losing @ East Lansing. Especially if we win the next two. That sets up for a classic Pelini letdown week. I moreso see that happening against Penn St. however. Account that is the only point I have been trying to make. I guess I like our chances against PSU better because it is at home.

  18. I never, NEVER, go into a game thinking we will lose. If you think that way you are not welcome at my tailgate. Stay home and stew in your loser broth. T_O_B Amen brother. Not even in the darkest days of 2007 did I think we had no chance at winning a game. If we lose we lose, but is no fun to sit and stew about it as you put it.
  19. Really shows how turnovers are killing Nebraska this year and in the past. This one really stood out. "Pelini is 42-18 at Nebraska since taking over in 2008. The Huskers are 23-1 in games where they have a positive turnover margin, 8-1 where it’s even, and 11-16 with a negative margin. Of those 11 negative turnover margin wins, only two of them have come in true road games. When Nebraska loses the turnover battle by two or more, they’re 2-13." Everyone knows turnovers are a huge problem. If they can just go even on turnovers they have a great chance of winning the games. http://hailvarsity.com/2012/10/nebraskas-5-year-turnover-problem/
  20. Your stating a loss, there is no difference. I also asked if you watched a single MSU snap, not ours. Comparing PSU and MSU as equal? Seriously? Like Seriously? The only thing you can say is equal of the two, is defense. You obviously don't watch the games. MSU has NO OFFENSE. Matt McGloin is probably the BEST QB in B1G play right now. He makes great decisions, might not be the "best" runner, but he knows when to run and protect. He has the best accuracy and a hell of an arm. I am completely baffled you would even state their defense isn't anything special. As for saying Dennard is whatever you tried to say, he is a play maker, simple as that. I never stated we would lose, but them and PSU are our two big games left this year. I am not exactly sure why you are getting so bent out of shape. I said I could see them losing to MSU for no other reason than if they win the 2 games before they might not be ready to play. I wasn't trying to say anything about Robinson what I said is a complete fact that he is a streaky player and he doesn't play as well on the road. His 2 worst games this yeart were on the road, and they lost both games. He threw how many interceptions against ND? I think it was 5. Last year Michigan lost 2 games both on the road and DR played terrible. I am not making this up or anything. Those things are facts. Yes he is playmaker, but he has also played really bad in some games in his life. I am entitled to think that they can lose to MSU for no other reason than they play poorly. Just as you are entitled to your own opinion. I have watched MSU play a lot this year and I have watched Penn St. play. They are playing better and McGloin is playing pretty well, but I think Braxton Miller might have something to say about the best QB in the conference. I guess I don't understand why you are turning this into some sort of a pissing match.
  21. As would I. MSU and Iowa play right into this defenses strengths, pro style offenses with less than mobile QBs. Actually MSU is the game I can see us dropping. I really can see us winning against NW and Meechicken. Then being on somewhat if a high and losing at East Lansing. For no other reason than we shouldn't lose to them. Hahah you see us beating NW and Michigan, but losing to a MSU? Have you watched a single snap? Maxwell is a decent QB, but he has NO receivers, except for a freshman, but you also forgot, we have a very good secondary. Bell is our only threat. There is a difference between a QB threat and a RB threat. Michigan and Penn State are our two biggest threats on our schedule left, and I am more weary of Penn State than anyone else. Yeah, actually I have watch all of our games. Every snap. I said for no other reason than we shouldn't lose to them. I didn't say we would lose I said I could see us losing. Big Difference We lost to NW last year by 3 and played absolutely terrible. If we play that terrible again we may lose, but I really don't think that is going to happen. It sounds like you and quite a few other people think Denard Robinson is a combination of Boo Radly, Chuck Norris, and Bill Bransky all rolled into won. He is a great player but is also very streaky. If you haven't noticed he doesn't usually have his best games on the road. Why Penn St. more than MSU? They are playing pretty good offense but there defense isn't anything special. You saying that Penn St. is a threat is no more compelling than me saying MSU. At least Sparty is on the road.
  23. They may well turn out to be.................BUT, before that game there were multiple posters stating we were equal talent wise........... I think talent wise we are pretty equal with OSU, with one glaring exception, Braxton Miller. I thought he was a game changer before the game and I still think so. He is a special player. I mean Cam Newton special. After watching OSU play quit a bit this year, I think they tend to play down to their compition. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they rolled Wisky and Michigan, yet struggled agianst some lesser opponents.
  24. So even if we win out we have to do with style? We don't even belong in a bowl game? You must have pretty high standards if OSU is average at best. The voters from around the country disagree with you. What is OSU 6 or 7 in the AP poll. If all you judge a teams worth by is Alabama than you are going to be really disappointed most of the time. Are you won of those guys that was 13 years old in 1994 and your whole memory of NU football is of killing everyone? Does it have to be NU is a dominating team or they suck? Do they have to be undefeated and beat everyone with style or they suck. Can't Nebraska just be a good team? Nebraska can win out and can play in the Rose Bowl and maybe they won't make themselves a laughing stock in the process.
  25. Why not? The game is at home. Michigan does not always play that great on the road. NU should be able to score some points. Denard Robinson runs hot and cold, he may just run cold that night. Oh, that's right it is a night game. NU hasn't lost a home night game in how long.
