  1. Not sure I follow? Archy made a valid point. This was a horrible mistake by a member of law enforcement. This had absolutely nothing to do with "gun reform" for the average gun owner, who cannot/do not own tasers and are not trying to apprehend criminals.
  2. Not sure. The thread I saw indicated he should not have had it since it was private vehicle, but not sure
  3. I saw other reports that he was hiding a loaded weapon next to his leg...?
  4. I am guessing there are a lot of folks that are thrilled that Gaetz has taken the heat off of Cuomo. Maybe they can have the trials at the same time, one broadcast on Fox and one on CNN. Ratings bonanza I tell ya.
  5. Unless regulations and licensing constitutes the large portion of the control legislation, I don't know that it will actually work as intended. A "ban" of this model, or a "confiscation" of that model is not very likely to work. @teachercd actually probably has the best example for something that would actually work. Not necessarily single shot, but manual action reloads (think pump shotguns or bolt action rifles) might be the key.
  6. This is a slight, 3-4% increase over last year, much like other budgets. I am not sure at what level of reduction it becomes untenable. There would have to be a lot of policy considerations before we ever see that budget reduced.
  7. https://thehill.com/policy/defense/547340-biden-requests-753b-defense-budget © Getty Images President Biden is requesting a $753 billion defense budget for next fiscal year, with $715 billion of that going to the Pentagon.
  8. This is a puff opinion piece. It is an advertisement to pass HR1. The terms"may, could, might" supposition doesn't make it so. Not saying both parties won't try to get away with as much as possible however.
  9. I assume you mean voluntary/unwanted vs resulting from sex assault?
  10. ...the tables?... Just kidding. I doubt that would ever happen given the sheer numbers alone. Around 43% of all US households own at least one firearm. How do you see that playing out? Not arguing just curious
  11. I always thought this was ridiculous as well. No smoking at all in NE restaurants now. Still have this in KS?
  12. There are, however, a (alleged) record high of 20,000+ unaccompanied minors now in custody. Does that number jibe with previous years in the data you were looking at?
  13. That is unusual in my experience, but good for your provider. My wife works in one of the busiest clinics in the area, and it was never practiced pre-covid. So, good on your medical circle I guess.
  14. Not doubting you at all. But I would wager that your experience is in the minority.
  15. Before I comment on this, I will say that I am definitely for common sense reform with the regards to guns and gun safety. But, as to your comment about perceived hypocrisy of those two outlooks. It might have something to do with the fact that in 2018 (latest year I could find stats for both) there were 619,591 abortions in the US, and 39,740 deaths from firearms...of which 61% (24,242) were self inflicted. So, of the 15,498 deaths caused by others, of those 13,958 were considered homicide. Roughly 3,400 were children ages 4-18. All numbers could and should be less, and common sense reform would help mitigate some of those stats.
