  1. Let's hope for an injury-free game and a good contest.
  2. If the NCAA was serious about parity, there would be a coaches salary cap. But of course they're not.
  3. Remember, Wisconsin is full of witches and communists,....if you have any talismans that can block the bad juju they'll be sending, you need to get them up before game time.
  4. I'm calling it Camp Randy. It won't be 20 below. We like night games. I think you can psych yourself out and buy into the hype. Let's just get the ball to our money guys, play solid D, and not beat ourself. Tommy needs to fool them more than he fools us. We need to make sure their brilliant defense isn't due to holding our receivers... Right off the bat. I don't have any predictions.
  5. I'd say the BIG is as strong or stronger overall than any conference, but I discount them because I don't know much about the individual teams. Every team we've played has been better than I thought they would be before the game.
  6. This is certainly a non-event brought about by a mistake.
  7. My strong opinion is that the people in charge of this should decide what is appropriate and I should not worry about it too much.
  8. That explanation makes zero sense to me....a lead blocker would far outweigh another guy in the box at some random location. We would still gain us an advantage at the point of attack and have a blocker to pick off a defender who shot a gap. It's not like you'd have to have him in all the time. It also allows you to keep the d line honest by having a potential run up the middle while still taking the play outside. I have doubts about the effectiveness of the jet against Wisconsin and O State. our jet sweep will be much more effective with Westy and Carter back. Both great blockers. Have Westy, Stan and Carter to one side and have Moore taking the sweep to that side good luck stopping that if we can prevent interior penetration from blowing it up The interior blowing up is what I'm worried about and to answer Colorado, I think a blocker in front of him to take out the first guy who busts through would give us a much better chance to find daylight somewhere. At some point though ,you just have to accept that you're not good enough and no tricks will do much.

  10. I'm not calling us anything....we'll know where we stand when the games are over. I swear some fans think football is a fortune telling contest.
  11. Kansas State has fielded decades of undefeated pretenders.....we're not even close to that. They did it by scheduling the worst OOC games every year...then got stomped the first time they played a legit team. The 4-team playoff alleviates some of that kind of scheduling. We just happened to get a sucky Oregon team for our big game, it wasn't by design.
  12. Probably any of the current top 4 remaining undefeated would keep them ahead of us. We'd jump them if they lose.considering a team ahead of us in the top 4 would have to lose for us to go undefeated through the big 10 title game, I would say this is a possibility. Look if Bama loses to LSU and Michigan wins out, Michigan is #1 headed into the big 10 title game. We would likely be top 4 as well being undefeated and all. If we beat #1 Michiganto finish undefeated I highly doubt any team is put ahead of us. I get what you all are saying but to me, an undefeated Big 10 Champ, regardless of if it's us or Michigan, is no lower than 3 but would more likely be 2-1 depending on Alabama. My gut feeling is that Louisville is #1 because that Heisman QB they have is ridiculous. You're right though if it shakes out that way.
  13. Good question. Have any of our 4,392 sports reporters asked about this?
  14. What's the matter with this thread? I think any of these amateur teams can be beat, but this probably makes it harder for us because you know those guys have to be pissed.
  15. Yeah, but he did a lot of dancing and hesitating before this season......he brought in on himself. From what he's shown this year I'd say it's possible he could make a pro team as an all-purpose back. He's really stepped it up. Meh. Newby looks great when he's running through holes a small truck could drive through. He averaged 3.7 per carry against Purdue. He's running Barry Sanders style now, quick, cuts in heavy traffic, his big runs are more the result of his cuts in the first five yards than the blocking.

  17. I've been learning this throughout the season......A lot of people are waiting for the game where we "put it all together". I don't think that game will ever come. What we do have is a quarterback and team who expect things to go wrong once in a while and instead of getting shook up and losing their composure like a screaming guy they once knew, they go back out there and try harder the next time. Slowly and surely we seem to be seeing a team full of gamers.....guys like Crouch who think if there's 2 minutes on the clock ,we still have time to score a couple more times.
  18. There's another way to look at it. A team plays like crap for half of every game but still manages to win by 15.Maybe they're actually better than what they've shown? Maybe the top teams, like Ohio State for instance, are way overhyped? Maybe Purdue ,who everyone thought was a doormat, is not nearly as bad as people said? This is why we go ahead and play the game.

  20. We should have pulled some red shirts a couple games ago. The young guys need experience before facing Wisconsin, and the starters needed the rest. I have to believe healthy red shirts are as good as injured starters. You know, that is very interesting. By not pulling some of the redshirts is there a chance that Riley might have hurt the Huskers chance to win the West this year? The Oline looks so bad right now. I wonder that as well. I don't know what they look like in practice but the walking wounded and walk-on back ups are getting man handled out there. They are getting manhandled ......and then miraculously they look unstoppable. I don't get it. I'm sure the play calling has something to do with it....once the jet sweep was successful everything else opened up. It's as much a matter of using our talent properly as anything.....and then the players have to execute when they're called on, which doesn't always happen.
  21. Personally I'd want the Possum Lodge crew to call the games, but it never works out that way.
  22. That's a good question for our ten thousand sports reporters to ask. You'd think a local walkon would have a huge investment in the game. One problem we'll face now is the number of players who will be able to travel.
  23. I think a lifetime Lincoln guy like Els definitely had some good advice on how to play us. Not sure how much it mattered though, because it's not that hard to figure out what we do and not that hard to adjust to what they do once we know what they're up to. People were calling Beck Ohio State's problem last year. I don't think his opinion is any better than any coaches concerning this staff and what we do now.
  24. Can somebody explain what's going on with Banderas? He's like a crazy dog going after a tire the last two games. Is it just him , did we change something , or both?
  25. I didn't learn anything new, but I don't think we should call the next games a loss until we play them. Chances are we'll play up to them the same way we play down to other teams. My biggest concern is that three of the games are away....probably the three toughest where they'll need fan support the most. I still believe we're not utilizing Morgan Jr and Pierson-El enough. And who was that guy with the big kickoff return?
