  1. If everything goes as expected, especially due to the hot weather and humidity, I expect to see TM until halfway through the 3rd quarter, then Kellogg III finishing up with Armstrong. TM could go longer I suppose being the 1st game and wanting to get the timing down, but I wouldn't want to stress anyone in this muggy weather.
  2. I haven't been paying much attention and don't see any threads on this;.....anyone know how our O-Line is shaping up? In my opinion, the left tackle is the most important guy on the line because a right-handed QB can't settle in if he feels like his head is gonna be taken off every time he goes back to pass and that also affects his comfort level in every other aspect of the game. How are we doing in that area?
  3. Nothing says 'Dumb hicks' like cash only and a communal piss trough. It's like the Schrute family set the place up. Hopefully the new facility won't price everyone out of consideration like the Ford Center in OKC....an expensive facility combined with a mediocre team is a bad combo. The biggest plus is the Haymarket location will offer plenty of opportunities to have a beer... whether it's to celebrate or drown your sorrow.
  4. I wouldn't say they're not fan friendly...I'd say they're confused. They bend over backwards to develop gimmicks and games to get people to come ,but overlook the most obvious and annoying little things that make people madder than hell. Charging for the same crappy parking was a slap in the face. What jmfb said about credit cards is right on and so easy to fix. And how about some privacy in the restroom...let's do away with the communal piss trough. You would think the move to Haymarket will be a big upgrade...the jury's still out.
  5. I learned that was a fun game to watch for the most part....Beck does know how to utilize his available players.....we had too many weaknesses to overcome against top teams this year, but some talented players in a few spots; OLB, CB, and obviously the o-line pass protection could make a huge difference.
  6. I think it should be. I think across the board they have better talent than us this year and it'll take something out of the ordinary from our coaches to give us an edge. Our o-line has been getting beat like a drum by good teams when it comes to pass blocking and just generally deciding who's blocking who. It'll be tough for TM if he has to dodge 3 guys before every play gets going. Their QB is solid as well and their O is balanced; it would be better for our D if they were only good at one thing. There again I think the D coaches will have to bring something out of the ordinary to make up for our deficiencies. Of course if our D forces a bunch of turnovers......but then that's stating the obvious.
  7. He's just saying they have about the same style defense that we've seen and we'll have to play our game. Really it's just the usual jock-speak and not much to think about. Taylor doesn't get too worked up about anything.
  8. I would just call for the linemen to pass-block for more than half a second......no sarcasm intended.
  9. That's a good Nebraska name....we call a creek a crick around here.
  10. Whether he stays or goes I don't think Bo is the kind of guy who will sabotage the future of his team. Two of the coaching staff he came with to "turn this around" ,his brother and Marvin Sanders, were supposedly fired for girl chasing. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Bo was offered by some other program and took it. I'm sure his wife's opinion factors into it heavily as well.....maybe someone should ask her?
  11. Tim Beck has put 90% of the decision-making in the quarterback's hands. Sometimes that just-in-time split-second method works and sometimes it's a disaster. Having three injured RB's hasn't helped, but seeing how Wisconsin effectively used their runners to spread the field while we did nothing with our offensive talent doesn't give me a lot of confidence in Beck's ability to run anything but a quick-scoring hit-or-miss Pac Ten offense. I expect to see Taylor back in the pocket again, lousy pass-blocking from the left side, bailing too early, throwing into triple coverage, etc... We have a hell of a lot of talent on offense....but you wouldn't know it.
  12. I'm not surprised that I disagree completely with Dirk. He starts out by stating that we had high expectations for this team that everyone knew had major deficiencies on defense and says we got sucker-punched. Huh??? Did he just stop by to check out Nebraska on his way to New York or California? If anything, the team overachieved in many areas. We started the year a defensive mess, getting trounced by UCLA, making adjustments and finally putting together an unexpected winning streak at the end. Did anyone have higher expectations coming into the year than what the team actually achieved? How about the loss of Burkhead for most of the season....did anyone see that as a good thing? I have issues with many things that are going on, but I'd say Dirk just likes to take generalized shots at Bo and doesn't appear to be much of a sports reporter. Maybe he'd be better in the civil rights section?
  13. Looks like Ray Gallegos finally got back that touch he had when he first got here. I wonder what happened and why he was missing....maybe just the speed of the Big 12 or rushing his shot?
  14. That sucks....Abdullah is also our top kick returner and hurts us bigtime in that area. Let's hope it's not serious.
  15. We're away....the game is on ABC...we haven't had a meltdown for a couple games.....,if it's close I think we lose.
  16. If our outside linebackers show up and make big plays against the run, then I like our chances. I guess the other thing to watch for is Martinez' form...if he regresses to that infantile state at the first sign of pressure, throws floundering ducks off his back foot, flings it away at the first chance,or thinks a triple covered receiver is the one to hit, ....
  17. It's amazing to me that NW completes a basic 7 yard pass for a 1st down and the announcers come out of their chairs. Maybe our D can actually force a turnover?
  18. Where do we get these stickers? I hate this offense....what happened to Abdullah and Heard in at the same time running misdirection? So far this game blows.
  19. I was surprised when they moved Turner to receiver after he'd broken half the Texas highschool records. I'm not trying to start a QB controversy, it just made me wonder what they're thinking down there as far as utilization of talent. Don't tell me ,...no, don't even try to tell me the other potential QB's are not as smart as Taylor. Every fan of another team that I talk to says we have an athlete at QB. Now we have Armstrong in the mix......will they decide to move him to receiver? Someone tell me their reasoning.
  20. The screwups of his brother and Sanders hurt recruiting and continuity....that's all the excuses I got. I think there's been improvement in the D since the UCLA game but not enough to make up for B. Miller's speed and smarts. Urban Meyer is known to be a pretty good coach as well. I think you have to consider that players can lose it if they think they're playing for a bunch of ingrates...which takes about one bad play these days.
  21. Luke Fickell was Ohio State's coach in 2011. I believe Urban Meyer brought his entire own staff. You're not exactly making a good case here You're right...my case sucks. I don't keep up on the BIG obviously. I actually made the case for firing Bo and hiring Meyer.
  22. It doesnt matter who there QB is... with this defense, coaching staff and O-line... We will never sniff the top 10. That's true...it didn't help to spot them 14 points with dumb passes but the D had no answer for B. Miller.
  23. It could be that the offense is very hard to learn and the backups are just not picking it up. It could be that Taylor isn't picking up the passing aspects either judging by the way he throws right into coverage. It probably takes a special kind of vision and timing to hit receivers in tight coverage the way the pros do and it's possible most college QB's will never "get it" just like everyone doesn't get calculus.
  24. Taylor reminds me of Bobby Newcombe and the reason Crouch became the QB. Newcombe did some great things, then out of nowhere would run backwards and drop the ball. Now Martinez has done it over and over and over and over to the point where most of us expect we'll just have to overcome that because he's the best QB available. I think Newcombe would win the job if he was playing now. With Martinez you have to take the good with the bad or put in someone better.
