  1. I understand looking out for the best interests of a recruit, but you have to balance that with the best interest of the school you coach for (even if you likely will lose your job soon). Riley certainly should have said something positive about Nebraska, like if a coaching change occurs, give the new coach a chance.
  2. No, we will only win 2/5 in volleyball. Let’s be realistic here.
  3. We win 3 of the next 4 national championships. You said bold.
  4. This one was hard for me as the kool aid is flowing very strong. But my biggest fear, I guess, is Frost’s scheme not matching up well with Wisconsin. We need to be able to consistently beat them to achieve our goals.
  5. I don’t like it when a coach poaches players from where he previously coached. However, I later discovered that the action was not initiated by NU.
  6. I guess I should clarify. If he was planning to transfer already, and later decided on NU, after considering other schools, that’s not to bad. They were going to lose him anyway. However, if he left with the sole intention to go to NU, I don’t like it. I don’t think, except under very limited circumstances, that a coach should be able to pull players he used to coach. I think there should be rules on it.
  7. I have mixed feelings on this one. On one hand, it’s a huge pick up in a position of need. On the other, we are taking him from UCF. If UCF wasn’t happy about it (and I have no knowledge either way), then it seems off.
  8. I have a feeling I’m really going to like this guy.
  9. As long as you stop saying “in regular forums.” Agreed?
  10. Um, no. They were clarifying because people like you need apparently that clarification. Indeed, as they went on to say others associated with the university made statements in support of the measure, and they to were expressing their opinion. its real easy to make up “facts” to support your position, but it would save us a lot of time if you just stick to what actually happened .
  11. Do you even read (and watch) the stuff you post. The university explicitly stated that he did not speak for the university.
  12. He can give whatever address he wants. Considering that’s were you’ll find him (as he explained), I think that’s appropriate. Do that mean I’m a bigot, too? He apologized because of people like you - who can’t take things a face value. On your second point, of course (he wasn’t supporting what you characterize as “diversity”). That’s the point. Where you agree with him or not, he is entitle to his own opinion. Oh, and let me add, if you really think he was representing the university in that clip, you need to watch it again.
  13. Well, considering he never uttered the words “Husker,” “football,” and or anything like that (and gave nothing more than the address of place were he works), IMO you are reading into it - a lot. People are allowed their own opinion. It’s funny how some people support diversity, but refuse to allow diversity of thought when it’s not something they support. (Not saying you’re one of those people, I don’t know you well enough). And before you say he’s a representative of the university and shouldn’t be allowed such speech, he is — it’s guaranteed by the first amendment.
  14. At this point, I’m not sure if Farmer would lose a weight lifting competition against the hulk.
  15. Gebbia is a gamer. Never discount a gamer. I remember Major Applewhite, and despite being small in stature, and limited mobility, he was a gamer. Im not saying that Martinez isn’t a gamer. I just don’t know enough to say (he looks like it though). But from what I’ve seen and heard about Gebbia (which is a lot more then Martinez), I’m very glad Gebbia’s here. He studies the offense and is able to quickly figure out defenses. That alone makes him quicker in all aspects of the position. And don’t discount the passing part of Frost’s offense. The run is important, but for all those skill players to excel, a qb must be able to read the defense, and put the ball were it needs to be. Its a good problem to to have these options.
  16. Hope he does well on the ACT, and gets here soon. I heard he’s been studying a lot for the ACT (for quite awhile).
  17. My vote: The Magic man. Now you see me; now you don’t. (Either that or mike honcho).
  18. The offer list this guy has is insane. It has almost every top school in the country (including Alabama, USC, LSU, Tennessee, Florida State, Florida, etc.)
  19. This opens a Pandora’s box. There will no doubt be recruiting current players now, and the 85 person limit will become very fluid. (players coming and going). It seems to be very ill conceived (based upon my limited understanding). The one caveat is the conferences can make additional rules and mitigate this problem significantly. As I’m sure almost every major conference will, the effect will be largely limited. But irrespective, it’s a pretty bad change.
  20. I like this rule a lot. It’s good for the players and coach.
  21. Very happy about this. Even if he only gets 10 carries a game (so that he can stay healthy), it will make a big difference. Not only is he very good, his skill set fits the offense perfectly.
  22. Watch his tape. He is unmovable. A huge offensive lineman will have him tied up, and as soon as the guy with the ball comes by, he breaks free and gets the tackle. Yes, it’s a highlight reel. But it’s long and he does the same thing, over and over again. And it’s obvious with the offers he has, that that’s not the exception but the norm. He also plays his position well. He doesn’t overcommit and does what the coach wants him to do. He also has a burst when he needs too. Great pick up. (Indeed, it appears as if he is an ideal player to face Wisconsin’s offense).
