Then, you say you like all the "OR"s on the list implying that those players are equal right now and battling for positions. With the word "OR" by all the TEs, I'm not sure Cotton's name being last means anything.

Also, does being towards the top in yards before contact mean Ameer Abdullah was extremely elusive, or that our offensive line was good? I watched the games, I can tell you which of those two I would say...... I don't have a link. I remember it being mentioned in games later in the season. I personally think it's a lot of both. AA was really good. No question about that. However, our O line wasn't bad at run blocking. They had their issues with pass pro at times and the entire cluster f*** that was most of the MSU game. But, at run blocking they were pretty good. Sorry, you don't rack up the stats like we did last year even if AA is as good as he was without a decent run blocking O line.

I can understand all of that. And, I think his prediction of 9-3 for this year is not out of line. However, the feelings that we would be 6-6 if we played in the Pac12 is ridiculous. We all of a sudden would have 3 more losses if we played in a different conference?

Hey....talk about another team. The Cubs are having a good year and their's lots to talk about. There are other teams that are having a good year...bring up the subject.

People with the same feelings as Sam point to AA, Bell and Gregory as losses that just won't be replaced. Yes, they are big losses but, it's not like we have recruited horribly the last few years. We have talent on this team.

Being the first game of the year could mean an upset can happen. I would be more sure of a Minny loss if it were later in the year. My Big Ten rose colored glasses are on for this one. I'm taking Minny 27-20.

It somewhat depends on what you mean by 80s form. Can we get to the point we are top ten consistently and eon conference championships? Absolutely no reason not to. However, I have been in conversations with fans they think we should be so good that we never should have to worry about teams like Minnesota or Iowa. That just isn't the case. I agree with Darlington on the recruiting factor that the Oklahoma game gave us over other teams that never were on tv. Now, everyone has that exposure. Those teams have more talent now than they used to. We can get back to top ten and conference championships but it's going to look different.

Yep, we've gotten a lot more out of Iowa than they have gotten out of Nebraska.

That's a point I'm actually very surprised at. Here, unless there is total failure, Riley is pretty much guaranteed to be his coach his entire career. At Iowa, unless there is a huge turnaround, I don't think Ferentz will be there two years from now. That means totally different staff and position coach. Possibly totally different scheme and view of what type of talent matches that scheme. PLUS...having to go through all the drama of a coaching change.

Just an interesting tidbit. Iowa has another 3* TE in this class also. So, if anyone is thinking he didn't want to come here because we already had a TE in the class, that obviously isn't it.

Starting to get a little concerned about my Cubs. They have the bats to go against almost anyone in the major leagues and score runs. However, the last two games they have disappeared when going against two really good pitchers. This makes me wonder if our young players aren't seasoned enough to go against the truly elite pitchers in the league. That is going to spell trouble when trying to beat St. Louis.

That's incredible. First it's off the foot which was total luck but makes the play fun. But, the play from the first baseman was amazing because his back was to the infield. He flipped a perfect no look threw to first base knowing his pitcher would be there. If the pitcher isn't there, it ends up being the worst play of the game. He was...and it's awesome.

I think we are fine at TE for which Fant wants to play. What I find interesting is that the staff seems to have liked Stoll better than Fant. I know in the grand scheme of things this is only one site's opinion but on 247, Stoll is graded at .8525 and Fant was graded at .8563. Now, I'm only pointing this out to show that they probably are very similar in talent and ability. So, why do you think the staff likes Stoll over Fant at TE? OR, is it a matter of Stoll committed first so the spot was taken up? It would be interesting to know of our staff cooled on Fant around the same time Stoll committed. To me, if there are two players of pretty equal ability, I would prefer to have the local kid. But, sometimes other things play into it that we don't know. I'm not saying it's something like character because i don't know either kid and everything I have seen about Fant is he is actually a pretty smart and mature kid.
