  1. Last week I was watching the game with some guys I hadn't watched a game with in some time. They constantly were calling for a new QB. And, that's when we were winning and the offense was doing well. Martinez will go down as one of the most unappreciated QBs in Nebraska history.
  2. If he follows his current career per game average(222.88) for another 20 games(considering best case scenarios of 6 more this season and 14 next year with B1G Championship appearances) he should end up with over 12,000 career yards. This year he is averaging 280 per game. I don't see any reason that is going to go down over the next 20 games. That would put him over 13,000 yards. Very impressive.
  3. I said defense shutting them down. The offense has proven to me that they can and will score pretty much on anyone. I would be absolutely shocked if we don't score more than 25-30 points on Sparty. That is even if they cough up the ball a couple times. However, the two games we have lost this year the defense completely fell apart. I am very optimistic about what I have seen since the OSU game on offense. I think the coaches have made some very good adjustments and the players are playing hard. I believe our D will shut down MSU like we did Michigan. We win.
  4. The fact is, there are a gazzillion reasons why certain people are gay. There isn't just one reason. God loves everyone but he doesn't love everything we do. We as humans are not the judges of what or who God "hates". In fact, I'm pretty sure if God were here, he would not ever use the word hate.
  5. I loved that game. We had just moved to Iowa and watched it along in our apartment. I loved the fumblerooski but this trick play has always stuck out to me as the coolest and it is still legal to my knowledge.
  6. I have no problem with Nebraska going up against anyone. Are we going to lose some? Yes. But, I would rather our team go out and play the best team available than go play some middle of the road team.
  7. Agree!!!! If we are just looking at running ability, I'll have to take Miller even though Martinez is good. But, if you somehow have the ability to contain both of them, I will take Martinez as the more complete QB that can beat you with the pass if the running gets shut down. Both of them are better than Robinson.
  8. Lol, you got tickets for HER bday? Is that like getting HER that new chainsaw for Xmas? I'm hoping she likes the golf clubs as well So, is she still a girl friend?
  9. We are no different in the backup QB position than 90% of the teams out there. About the only ones who have seen the second string QB significantly are teams that have struggled to find a reliable starter. We haven't had that problem.
  10. I always kind of liked aTm and now I'm liking them even more.
  11. Has he given the same amount of tax returns that Obama has?
  12. Still waiting for the Fast and Furious documents....ho hum....There's a shock.
  13. why would he not? Once again, this was a break down of the local and state governments. President Bush was heavily criticized for not sending in the military to help out the survivors or to help evacuation. The fact is, IT IS ILLEGAL for the President to send the military into a state without approval of the local and state government. The administration asked several times during the tragedy if they needed help and only after it was painfully clear that they did, did the Governor ask and approve of federal help. On another flip side of all of this. I find it rather amusing that Obama is being praised for helping with relief efforts. Isn't this pretty much done by people several pay levels below him? Meanwhile, when an American dignitary asks for protection over seas by our military and his government fails to provide it, he washes his hands of it by claiming thats all done several levels below him. That all is kind of odd to me. first, obama has no control over who or why people praise him. second, your memory of katrina confuses me. third, if you honestly believe the federal gov't should receive no blame for the failures of katrina, that explains a lot. fourth, so it was jindal's fault? Where did I say the federal government had no blame? I am confused on something. Is the President responsible for what happens several levels below him or not?
  14. i am not talking about the response as much as the failures that allowed the flooding. if it was prevented like it could have been and should have been, this would all be moot. I'll have to look more later. I remember reading articles about how much money had been sent to New Orleans in the decades before Katrina to maintain existing and build new levees. The money was sent and the work was never done. My brother lives in Baton Rouge. The corruption in that state and specifically in New Orleans government is amazing.
  15. because, he was not the governor. should have been. should have seen this coming, get elected, and prevented it. Nice save.
  16. Google is our friend. http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/HurricaneKatrina/blame-delayed-response-katrina/story?id=1102467#.UJAil2K2ZA4 As for corruption: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/01/national/nationalspecial/01corrupt.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 Louisiana is well known as the most corrupt state: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-corruption-louisiana_wittmar27,0,2957672.story I did find it funny that this comes from a Chicago paper. Most corrupt state: Louisiana ranked higher than Illinois Wait a minute....who is from Chicago again?

  18. let us be clear, the tragedy of new orleans was man made. there is no doubt about that. the damage was not caused directly by the hurricane, but by every protection failing during the subsequent flooding. there is plenty of blame to go around, but that most certainly was a political issue. the criminal negligence and gross misallocation of funds is most certainly political. Oh...exactly so. Now, this discussion is about the President's involvement after a tragedy. The mis-allocation of funds prior to Katrina was caused by local political corruption. I would absolutely love to know how the Presidential administration at the time of Katrina mis-allocated those funds so that the flooding safety mechanisms didn't work.
