  1. I think if Gregory's work ethic was that big of a question mark then Clowney wouldn't have been drafted 1st overall last year and they would have simply said he has work ethic issues instead of saying a 'myriad of issues.'
  2. I would agree if it was a position where he would be unlikely to see the field (like TE since we never used them), but at QB you always have to have a backup plan. TA was always one play from a season ending injury. Lets say Fyfe doesn't recieve that scholarship and transfers and then during the season TA goes down with a season ending injury. You're left with two true freshman QBs (one who coming into the season had major health issues and was an unknown if he would even be able to continue to pursue a collegiate football career), a RSF who had his senior year ended early to a torn ACL and has looked rather shaky at the position in college. I think your 2nd string QB should have a scholarship regardless if he's a walk-on.

  4. The conferences pulled their licences. So no actual venue, or color scheme could have been used. It would not be worth the dev cost at that point. I read it was EA not wanting to renew the NCAA licence. They were actually going to make a college football game without licenses similar to the way FIFA games have teams/leagues that aren't licensed, but then stopped once they realised fans probably wouldn't want to play a college football game where they can't actually 'play as their favorite team.' Nope. The Conferences started yanking the rights as soon as this hit the media and the piling on over 'likeness' started to mount. EA killed it after the names were gone. There is much more fault with the NCAA than EA also, as EA had broached escrowing some money as a delayed payment to players after they graduated, and the NCAA declined. It had been a while so some of the details in my head were off but this is where I got my info. http://www.theverge.com/2013/7/17/4532452/ncaa-wont-renew-licensing-agreement-with--arts

  6. Did you read what I wrote? Did you see the other schools that have offered him? It's not like we're up against Rutgers here, oh wait.... But seriously, I consider Nebraska to be a big time name, our HC got canned, very VERY publicly, yet this kid didn't even know it. Do you really think he is considering us? The last time we won a conference championship this kid had to be like 2 years old.
  7. Just watched his film. It would be quicker to list the positions he didn't play than it would the positions he did. He's one hell of an athlete.
  8. I understand your point. But based on what we have done and what we know we're capable of there's just no excuse for anything less than a 9-3 regular season. I know it's a new staff and all, but it's not really about what could happen. I'm basing it on what will probably happen, or should happen. We could go 2-10 too, but it's not gonna happen. It just aint. But what have "we" done? We as in the Bo Pelini directed defense with Randy Gregory, and the 4th year Tim Beck offense led by Ameer Abdullah and provided its lone vertical threat by Kenny Bell? That team lost to Michigan State, got stomped by Wisconsin, lost to Minnesota, and nearly lost to Iowa. Without Ameer, an early season letdown against McNeese St. wasn't even out of the question. That could be 4 conference losses right there. Based on what we have done, and what we know we're capable of -- some good games, some absurd slip ups. I think they're capable of 10 wins next year, for sure, but would 6 or 7 be so stunning? Looking at the conference, wisky loses basically entire offense in Gordon leaving, MSU loses their top rb, top wr, and like 85% of their defense from two years ago is gone. Minnesota loses their best rb in a decade and a game changing TE. All of those games were winnable. Our problems over the Pelini era were an offense with no identity, and a defense that looked lost. Those led to our mental mistakes that had some fans watching their cholesterol levels sky rocket. Riley just seems like the kinda guy that always has an answer. Really excited for this season.
  9. Is it bad when a lineman benches as much as your safety? Or is it a "long arms" excuse for Cotton? Or when your RB did 4 more reps at the combine? Yeesh.
  10. Someone said on here right after the season ended that he worked with Roach's uncle and the uncle told him Roach was ready to move on with his life and wouldn't be applying for another year. Ya that was me who said that. I see they have Rose listed as a Jr. but won't he get a medical redshirt for missing all of last year? I'm pretty sure you cant apply for a medical redshirt until your eligibility is used up. So after his 'senior' year he would be able to apply if he wants to.
  11. It sounds like Nebraska counter offered, but if he covets the co-DC title, than there not much Riley could do short of giving him that title. This is a real loss. Hopefully, Riley replaces Warren with a teaching coach with similar recruiting abilities. That's what I don't get though. I felt like him coming to Nebraska after being the DC/Secondary/RC/Associate HC and whatever else either meant he wanted to coach at a higher prestige program or wanted higher pay. Really hope Riley can replace his recruiting impact somehow.
  12. I don't get why you would leave a lesser school as the DC to take a job at a higher prestige school to be a position coach with a pay raise to then a year later go to yet another lesser school with less pay just to get Co-DC on your title.
  13. Amendola and Welker were undrafted You sure are right.. I forget that. I doubt that matters to a recruit. Amendola and Welker are household names. Riley does have two previous Biletnikoff winners (Hass '05, Cooks '13), and Leach only has one (Crabtree '07, Crabtree '08) although he won it twice.
  14. I think a lot of player rankings have to do with how 'college ready' a kid is. I'd bet many of these NFL guys that got overlooked by colleges was due to size. A lot of these kids aren't done growing when they're seniors in high school.
  15. I don't think you can call a coach 'good' based on three total seasons of 9 or more wins at three different schools. You can however call him smart for cashing in on those seasons.
  16. Eerily similar to our position with Bo don't you think? Their best defenses were both early in their respective careers at their last jobs, using the last coaches players. Does this mean Riley is doomed to fail before we play a game?
  17. The only thing I can think of was Stanton played a televised game against them his Senior year. Maybe that's it?
  18. I was thinking we liked Hall and Barry more than Garbutt otherwise he would've already committed.
