  2. A booster is a booster whether you go to one game your entire life or give two million a year. The letter is very broad and makes it sound like you can't talk to a recruit at all. They're just being safe I think and making sure we arent giving them any bling or cash. At least that's what I am thinking I could be wrong.
  3. Our strength and conditioning is perfectly fine we do everything they do in this article
  4. I seem to remember a semi-pro league ran by the WWE that went bust. However, I must admit that it certainly was entertaining to watch. They had cheerleaders in hot tubs in the stands, the dance routines at half-time were almost x-rated, there were no kick-offs, instead it was something like a scramble for the football. Totally unconventional, but pure entertainment for the enjoyment of the fans. That was the XFL. And we don't have to go that route. But I'm thinking we let them coordinate the gameday experience. As I'm envisioning it, that would involve the best sound system money can buy, cool music that appeals to young people, pyrotechnics, all kinds of visual effects, etc. Update the band as well. The "Pride of All Nebraska" needs a refresh. Like the rest of the gameday experience, the band routines seem tired, worn-out and more appropriate for 1983 than 2013. So let's look at and emulate what schools like Ohio State are doing with their bands. Then integrate that into the game day presentation. But the point is that our target market is 17 year old predominately black kids that we're trying to recruit. It's not 60 year old white guys that think the "Tunnel Walk" is still the epitome of cool and that "The Wave" is the highlight of game time experiences. I don't go to games any more. My family has good tickets and I get an invite once or twice a year to go. I simply have no desire to. The stadium sucks, the seating sucks, the gameday experience blows and it's not worth spending an entire day getting down there attending the game and then getting home. I'd rather watch the games from the comfort of my recliner than smashed into a tiny seat with some asshat with one of those seats with a back jammed into my kneecaps. And there are more and more like me who don't care about attending games. A big part of that is that the gameday experience just isn't that big of a deal. That needs to change. The stadium sucks????? I understand everything else you are saying but what do you mean the stadium sucks? Not saying my opinion is better but I've been to every stadium in the big12 big 10, sec except for Vanderbilt,Kentucky, auburn, and the only one I thought was even close to as neat is Florida
  5. A good analogy for the D is A pilot who goes to school to learn how to fly a plane goes to learn how to fly a plane not how to build a plane. The defense can be compared to a pilot who has learned so much on how to build a plane that they've forgotten how to fly it. This is an analogy that can be used for a lot of sports and I think right now the defense has Been taught so much that they all probably have tremendous knowledge and could probably become great coaches but they aren't coaches right now they're players. Pelinis defenses are such that te strong safety is educated not only on what he is supposed to be doing but what the d line linebackers etc are also doing. This has some positives but at the same time if your mind is constantly studying and learning it can forget the overall instincts of the game. I'm not saying to dumb it down but to learn and understand first what you're specific duty is on defense and perfect it. You could also think of it as an undergraduate student who hasn't declared a major. They know a little aboit a lot but haven't perfected anything. A phd student knows a lot about a little. The undergraduate student is like our defense they know know a little about a lot and its doing them no good because they are forgetting the main objective and that is to perfect their job at hand
  6. I've seen some decent arguments that it was a dumb article. Yours isn't one of them. If that's what you got out of the article, you need to work on reading comprehension. So if I'm reading this right you're telling me to read more and post less? Ok on a serious note I feel like we still have an edge. I don't live in the past but the past isn't forgotten. That can still be used as an edge. When a recruit or anyone really, walks through the north doors of south stadium past the weight room, locker room, out of the tunnel, into the academic center all the way to the training table you won't find anyone that doesn't say whoa. People will say "every school has these facilities nowaday" (they dont). With the exception of jays fans the entire state of nebraska plans their day around husker football which would both be an edge. We just need to win. I just got done visiting the facilities in Gainesville and am driving back to atlanta and I think as a program we still have an edge. I do agree as a football team on the actual field we need to get the blackshirts in order because that is an edge we can have in a state like nebraska. Disciplined, hard nose physical defense and no doubt we can get that back. He made some great points I just felt like it was an unfair assessment of the program

  8. Great points lets just drop football. Dumb article
  9. I wouldn't put much thought into what he said. He respects the defense of Georgia I guarantee. I don't think he was talking trash
  10. I would say Alabamas run is a dynasty but not quite as good as Nebraskas run in the 90s. One of the most overlooked dynasties in college football in my opinion is Florida State in the 90s. I think people forgot how good they were for that 10 year stretch because they were in the shadows of Nebraska. I'm not exactly sure on this but I thought I remember reading that they never finished outside the AP top 3 from 1990 or 91 to 2000. Nebraska was the team of the 90s but I bet if you do some research that Florida State could possibly claim themselves as the team of the 90s as hard as that is to believe....atleast for arguments sake they could
  11. It was legal and a bad call there is really nothing else to it. When ur teammate has the ball you try to block for him... If that was on the other side of the field yes probably unsportsmanlike and should've tried to just disrupt him
  12. This won't be nebraskas year against creighton.
  13. That's what they used to say about the sec too. Who's to say that the defenses aren't just that good We went through this all year. When we beat NW, it was "meh, wait till we play Michigan". We won. "meh,Wait till a play Michigan St on the road". We won. "meh, wait till we have to play Penn st" we won. "meh, we'll choke against Minnesota" we won. "me, we're definitely due for a letdown at iowa" we won. Exactly, maybe we're just a good team. Now there is a thought that has been missing on here. Finally! Great post
  14. 7-1 Michigan State 4 Wisconsin 11 Michigan 12 Minnesota 29 Penn State 32 Ohio State 34 Iowa 45 Northwestern 50
  15. As long as u wernt Being the guy that obnoxiously makes a point to stand up when everyone is sitting down and he is doing it in spite of everyone then I'm sorry to hear that that really kind of does suck
  16. So you wouldn't care about winning the game? You go in with no game plan, and not caring, your going to get blown out by Penn State, and be a laughing stock of the conference. They beat PSU, and come out strong, that will give them the momentum for us. Wisconsin will probably do what they have been doing all year long, make big plays on Special Teams, and run that ball down the opponents throat. Get Ball that TD to own the his record, and focus on NU starting Sunday. There will be film to watch, but they have played us already. That gives them and us the advantage. That is correct, I wouldn't care about winning a meaningless conference game. I'd take it if it fell in my lap of course. 100% of my game plan would be toward winning a meaningful conference championship. If you're not playing to win a championship this year, next year, some other year, what the hell are you doing in athletics? The reason they are in athletics and have gotten this far is because their attitude towards competition is exactly opposite of your idea above
  17. As the breeze has already hinted at: Wisconsin has already punched their ticket to the BIG title game. Their game against Pedophile State matters only if "pride" is factored into the conference standings. In other words Wisconsin could lose this game 782-0 and they'd still be headed to Indianapolis. Edit: If I was Brett Bielma I'd rest all my #1's and let the #2's and lower play because win or lose the Badgers are still headed to the BIG title game. Sports is about momentum, confidence and belief. Why in the world would take a team like wisconsin who is playing the best football they have all year even with a third sting qb and surrender a game to rest and come up with trick plays? You won't. A lot of these players and coaches got this far bc they are competitive and I guarantee you thy will be doing everything to win. A convincing win over penn state is just as important as keeping everyone healthy. There confidence is really all they have going for them. There is no such thing as playing vanilla at this point. This isn't a video game where u have unstoppable trick plays that u haven't shown. At some point u just have to line up and beat the other team and usually December is that time where there is no faking it
  18. No possible way bo would want to leave the huskers at this point. Do u realize we don't leave Lincoln next year til like October 12 or something? (Not counting arrowhead) Our road games: at Purdue at Ann Arbor, at Minnesota, at penn state A fifth year qb A new stadium that will soon be called the THUNDER doom with 90,000 plus going absolutely nuts!! U coach to build up opportunities like this
  19. here's an excerpt from a poster that was nails (he sent this to the ESPN B1G writer) and a funny response: " I'm wondering why Bo Pelini isn't getting heavy consideration for Big Ten COY. Nebraska currently sits at 9-2 (6-1), having faced the #3-rated schedule in America. They have a top-20 offense and defense nationally. NU's two losses are road losses to Pac-12 South champ UCLA (9-2) and undefeated Ohio St (11-0). NU has stayed the course after a humbling defeat in Columbus and instead of folding, has won 5 straight against some tough opponents. Their defense is a top-20 unit despite not really having any stars. Their offense is a top-20 unit despite starting most of the year with three walkons on their OL, and their best player/team leader sidelined (Burkhead) for most of the season. They have a first-time OC in his second year (Beck), first-time DC in his first year (Papuchis), and were predicted no higher than third in their own division before the season. It would seem to be a great coaching job thus far by Pelini and his young staff. Thoughts? " response: " His response, "Pelini has no control over his team. They are undisciplined and when he yells at them he makes sure to make it personal. That is nothing a COY would ever do........I want to have sex with Urban Meyer, or at least s#&k @#$ $%). " I read this on another board and wanted to show everyone here may not have read this.... Urban Meyer I'm sure will win it but I actually agree that pelini has a case.... Another thing to add is he may not have one first team all conference player and they may win the conference! edited by mod: rawhide
  20. I agree where as viewers we have no idea what te context is and on a positive note I feel it may be kind of a sign that the players are comfortable enough around bo to yell their opinion back at him. However sometimes I feel bo yells so much at them it just turns into noise
  21. I know what your saying but it's notre dame man. I don't really like them either but if you get a recruit and his parents on a visit there I guarantee they push the academics big time so by the end up te trip the parents push the kids hard to go there. They are in the north and a crap of a town you are right but notre dame is different I think
  22. Most message boards the respective fans usually always predict their team to ATLEAST win, especially at home or will predict a close loss that's a heart breaker no matter what game. Not here though. Most fans are homers when it comes to their team or you could say optimistically delusional. On this board a lot of us seem almost negatively delusional and feel as if we have no shot and are about to get dumped trucked on our home turf by the 22 team in the country. I predict that Saturday is our night. We make turnovers but For once not every one of them turn into a touchdown so we get lucky and capitalize on Michigan NOT capitalizing. Nebraska 34 Michigan 24
