  1. Barring injury, I dont see Cross getting more than 15 percent of carries next year. Yes he cut and he gained speed, but lets not assume he can run like Helu just yet. He is still a big boy. With that said....we all crab about recruiting, but we stole this guy from tennessee a few days before signing day. Bigtime get. We didn't steal him they cut him loose. They are most likely regretting that now
  2. If a QB wants the job handed to him he should go to a mid major or cellar dweller program. The best players want to compete and earn the spot.
  3. Well, since I don't lift weights, I'll throw mine out there that drives me crazy. I seriously can't stand the person who gets on the treadmill walking pretty much as slow as possible and reads a magazine while "working out" and then takes up the time on the machine for friggen ever. Hey...you aren't getting any workout and you're preventing anyone else from using the machine. It would still be a workout....maybe they have a bad knee or hip...maybe they are easing into working out...at the very least they are taking the initiative to be active. Walking and reading a magazine burns more calories than sitting on the couch and reading it
  4. On paper, this is our most experience OL yet, and should be our best. I watched some a couple of old games from 2008, 2009, and we're so much better now, outside of some pass protection (I'm looking at your ARod). They aren't getting to face a solid DL in practice so it will be very hard to tell until we get into the meat of the schedule.
  5. Impressive I see a lot of people doing that exercise. I'm not sure what it's for but it's become epidemic. They look almost as ridiculous as the gif. I wish they would just go away so they don't interrupt the few exercises I use the pulleys for. Well from the looks of it it appears to be a way to throw out your back with terrible form and also do about half a tricep extension...obviously using far too much weight...pretty sure this would set off the "lunk alarm" at planet fitness haha
  6. ^This to a T. Maybe start Serge over Pitchford if he plays soft similar to what KU did this year with Kevin Young and Perry Ellis. We will actually have some depth next year which will be nice and help us so much in big 10 play. I wouldn't be surprised if one of our Freshman wasn't on the team next season. I mean we had no depth and Vucetic still didn't play...obviously shields isn't going anywhere but Parker or Vucetic will probably be gone next season. Gotta have multiple schollies for next season.
  7. Very true! For an example take insanity. Those people didn't have that muscle mass when they started. They also had a much lower BF% at the end. Let me restate it then. It's impossible for someone who has been lifting for a while and is trying to cut the last few % of their BF not to lose muscle while cutting. For example, professional body builders as they are building in the offseason eat lots of healthy fats and load up on as much carbs, healthy fats, and protein as they can. When they cut fat to prepare for competition, it's a given that they will lose a sizable amount of muscle. Obviously a person like the people on the Biggest Loser who haven't done a physical activity in their lives, yes they will gain some muscle. Anyone who hasn't been on a physical training program will gain muscle after starting to work out. So you're right, my blanket statement was not correct. I was speaking more along the lines of people who have been lifting for a while. http://www.bodybuild.../fun/kelly3.htm Did you post that to prove my point or what? Did you read it?
  8. Sr Yr HS/Current Ht. 6'2/6'2 Wt. 225/250 Vert. 27"/24" 225 reps 15/20 40yd 4.85/most recent being 1 yr ago 5.01 however I bulked up to 270 to get to playing weight. I would still venture close to that most likely slower as I have not trained for the 40 for a year plus now. So 5.2ish
  9. He should be, I also expect QE to jump up the draft board after an awesome combine showing

  11. He gets people over confident in certain stocks and just before everyone gets ready to sell he poops his pants and the value drops and people lose everything.
  12. I do it in 2-3 week cycles so that I don't lose as much muscle when I'm cutting fat. It's going to take a while longer to get to the BF% that I'm striving for (10-12% ideally) but I will feel stronger and bigger once I do. Do you still lift during your cutting periods? Usually during cutting periods, a person will adjust his diet but maintain his lifting schedule. If yours is working great for you, keep on doing it. It's impossible to cut fat and gain muscle at the same time. When I'm on cutting cycles, I switch from separate muscle group days to full-body maintenance lifts and mix in more cardio. It's not the only way to do it, but it does work for me. No. It's not. I've done it and I do it. Maybe if you're close to your maximum potential this is the case. But you made a blanket statement which is false. Very true! For an example take insanity. Those people didn't have that muscle mass when they started. They also had a much lower BF% at the end.
  13. Did you go to a lot of practices? If so, what's Tim Miles like in practice? I think I would like to see that guy in action on a daily basis. I hope you're right about the boys coming back taking it to our starters from this year! Miles and his staff are just what you would expect. Upbeat and all about making guys confident. My biggest issue with Doc was how his teams seemed timid and afraid to mess up. Miles is all about giving it all you got and not worrying about missing the previous shot etc. His goofy quirky personality is genuine and the kind of guy he is. I guarantee you that Miles will take NU to its first ever NCAA Tourney win. How many times have you heard him complain about location? How many times has he said things in regards to us not being a basketball school etc? He doesn't at all. He does what a winner does and gets to work busting his backside on the recruiting trail. He is definitely a coach that "gets it". I hope he is a career guy at NU and I hope he realizes he could have buildings with his name on them and bronze statues of himself at NU.

Increase cardio a little cut out the carbs and lift like you always do IMHO
  15. I agree next year could be rough depending on how ready our freshmen are to contribute. Our transfers including Biggs put a hurting to our starters this season in scrimmages. I'm talking not even close.
  16. Enough time for Bubba Starling to fizzle out of baseball and finally get to Lincoln to suit up, eh? he'll be out of eligibility by then. clock starts ticking after high school now. I think if you actually show up and are enrolled then yes, but if you don't I didn't think your clock starts. However it is moot regarding Bubba as he did show up and started Spring Ball at NU before he signed with the Royals, so yes his 5 year clock is currently running. Not true, he was not enrolled as a full time student and is therefore not using his eligibility. That was my understanding of it anyways
  17. Supplements help you much at jazzercise? And this has what to do with this thread? You are posting in a thread that was created for talking about fitness, lifting, supplements etc. No reason to post that garbage here as you are obviously fishing. There is a thread in the shed specifically for this.
  18. That letter is pathetic. The kids probably laughed when they read it "I love the way you ball" I' wanted to "drop a line" Sounds like a coach who isn't hip or cool trying to be hip or cool. He might as well of told him that he has the skills to make dat guap at da next level
  19. strongsupplements.com is the place to go for supps. I used to go exclusively with supplement warehouse but got tired of them getting rid of many of the brands I prefer to use. Strong supps has insane fast delivery and dang good prices too. Finally decided to give Jack3d Micro a try and have been pleasantly surprised. Considering I don't drink soda etc caffeine really gets me going for the gym. I was a long time member of Anytime Fitness but recently have given Planet Fitness a try....I must say it is nice not having the dbags that stare at themselves in the mirror more than they lift in the way.
  20. You thinking Webster at PG then? I personally do not want Gallegos anywhere but SG. Ray seems like the perfect 6th man.
  21. Who does everyone feel will be starting next season? We will most likely add perhaps Atewe or a JUCO big. Size will still be a little bit of an issue My crack at the starting 5 F- Pitchford F- Pettaway F/G Shields SG- Webster PG Biggs
  22. My dream scenario is a W tonight and then a W against Iowa to once again ruin their tourney dreams. While ending up in the conference championship game.
  23. The expression on his face screams "I'm in over my head" As a coach I don't see how you cannot consider him a bum. Did you see the roster we were stuck with this season? Zero depth....how many years was he here? In basketball I might argue the most important aspect of being competitive is roster management. Especially when trying to build a program. We can both agree that Miles runs circles around Sadler in terms of recruiting and coaching right? What about Collier? I would also say that Barry was a better recruiter than Sadler. In terms of coaching I would call it a wash. When using the word bum I wasn't calling him a hobo or a terrible person. I was pointing to his time as the coach at NU. As was mentioned before he was incompetent. Lacked the ability to recruit solid contributors across the board. Did not bring in any of the local talent that is now starting for teams in the tourney or on the bubble. I agreed with you that he is a great person. Doesn't mean he can't be criticized for his failures in his coaching stint at NU.
  24. With our roster this is extremely impressive Cant you just be happy for the team. Always gotta throw that little extra in there. Not sure if serious? Did you expect this from our team? I find it to be very impressive with our 6-7 man rotation that we were able to get as many W's as we did. It is very impressive
  25. Tim Miles can flat out coach him some basketball. We had no business being a 10 seed even. He has got every ounce out of these kids and it is great to see. The future looks bright! Hope you are reading this Atewe!
